This study analyzes the impact of different types of dividend declaration, namely stock and cash dividends. Using event study method, MAAR and CAAR, this study found no evidence of abnormal returns on the declaration day for either of the types of dividends. However, significant negative returns are reported on days prior to the declaration day for stock dividend, indicating speculative nature of the investors. Recruitment and Selection is a foundation of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices and its integration to business is critical to achieve organisational strategic goals. Better recruitment and selection strategies result in improved organizational outcomes. The basic objective of this research is to explore the recruitment and selection procedures of NGOs based on BRAC; with analyzing these some recommendations are made to improve recruitment and selection practices. Here both primary and secondary sources are used for data collection and a structured questionnaire/ check lists was used to keep the research. The findings suggest that the largest NGOs emphasize professionalism and career orientations and implement long-term, forward looking approaches in their selection, recruitment, and remuneration. The small and mid-size NGOs, however, do not possess HR/ personnel management practices of their own; rather they follow and imitate larger members. The implications for HRM practitioners and scope for further research are discussed here

    Get PDF
Turkish Grameen Micro-credit Project (TGMP) follows Grameen Generalized System (GGS) which is designed to create new possibilities for a Grameen Bank Bangladesh(GBB) replication program by offering a simple and beneficial micro credit for improving poverty status of women in Turkey. Although GBB is known worldwide for its success in providing tiny credit without collateral to the poor women specially, still there have some controversy and questions about the methods and applications of the replication programs implemented in different parts of the world. The main objective of this study is to find the success of TGMP by evaluating some important factors related to the success of GBB replication program. By evaluating the program success of TGMP in eradicating extreme poverty, and improving the status of members' socio-economic life, this study concludes that it is quite successful till recent year as the GBB replication program specially in yearly performance, financial viability status, and loan performances of the members. Although TGMP has been proved successful in Turkey since 2003, it is recommended that necessary steps should be taken for its long-run success as a replication program of GBB with special concerns about financial sustainability, increase of growth oriented activities instead of home based loan activities and lending rate enhancement

This paper tries to address various dimensions of the firm relationship that are competing in the same industry. Competitive strategies play important role for a firm's survival and to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. However, firms can also decide to cooperate with each other through mobilization of resources to ensure mutual benefit and thus promote healthy competition. A strategic dilemma may occur for competing firms to cooperate with other who traditionally believe in competition, profit orientation, and self-interest. This paper tries to address firm level responses and interactions amongst each other in various consequences by relying on exploratory method of research. Firms competing in the same industry may opt for four different strategic options named as , competition, cooperation, coexistence and coopetition. Through the literature review, different forms of firm level relationships are explained under these four strategic options. This paper argues that cooperation is beneficial and may complement healthy competition amongst competing firms

    Get PDF
Export revenue is an important issue for Bangladesh. So analysis the relationship between export revenue and gross domestic product (GDP) is very crucial for the policy makers to develop our domestic economy as well as to create a good economic relationship with the global economy. The main object of this article is to investigate the relationship between export revenue and GDP in Bangladesh. To test stationary correlogram test is used. In this study, I used Granger causality and co-integration test to test the long-run relationship between GDP and export revenue in Bangladesh from 1981-2015. I found the maximum lag length for the model by using vector autoregressive (VAR) lag order selection criteria. In the model GDP was dependent variable and three variables (Remittance, Foreign direct investment, Export revenue) were the independent variables. In correlogram test, I have seen all of my variables were non-stationary at level, but after taking first difference, they became stationary. According to Granger causality test, there was bidirectional causality from export revenue to GDP in Bangladesh. Johansen cointegration test investigated that there was a long-run equilibrium relationship between export revenue and GDP but by using vector error correction model (VECM) I have seen there is no statistically significant long-run relationship between export revenue and GDP. Wald test indicated a statistically significant short-run relationship between the two variables

    Get PDF
Self-monitoring as a personality attribute is given particular attention by researchers in order to understand employee performance and productivity in the organizational context. Numerous studies focused on the impact of self-monitoring from individual employee perspective with limited focus on the impact of the organization’s performance. However, to what extent employees with high versus low self- monitors contribute to the organization’s performance needs to be theoretically augmented. Therefore, relying on exploratory method of research, the paper tries to address the impact of high and low self-monitors on organization’s performance. In this perspective, how self-monitoring helps employees to structure a social network within organizational setting and eventually contribute to it’s success is discussed in this paper. The paper addresses the literature review of self-monitoring principles with special interest in its contribution towards organizational performance through previous research compilation within the field of sociology and organization psychology
