The density of globalization processes led to an incredible increase in the use of external sources by organization. Thus cooperation in SMEs is an established option to improve their performance and house-based knowledge. On a survey of 172 managerial level employees, this paper explore the relationships between firm cooperation activities and perceived firm performance by incorporating the structure equation model (SEM). The study finds that there is a positive relationships among cooperation activities and firm perceived performance of SMEs. The results also confirms that cooperation activities with suppliers and customers shows the most significant effect on perceived performance of SMEs. This study emphasizes on adaptive selling behaviour of salespersons of life insurance sector of Pakistan. Adaptive selling is a technique used by a salesperson to provide customized solution to each customer according to his needs and wants which ultimately results in achieving all sales targets. According to trait theory sale success of a salesperson depends upon how much individual’s personality traits he/she possesses. So, 270 salespersons are chosen from life insurance companies of different cities of Pakistan on the basis of their expertise in the subject being investigated. The findings shows that individual traits like trait competitiveness, empathy proneness, psychological empowerment and expert power positively and significantly influence adaptive selling behaviour of a salespersons guiding sales mangers to sought out these traits while hiring and coaching salespersons to execute adaptive selling behaviour to ultimately increase the sales of their particular life insurance company which in return will boast up the life insurance sector of Pakistan. Lastly, this article concludes at direction for further work. Polymer Hydrogels for Wastewater Treatment

    Get PDF
The pollution of water resources turns into a worldwide problem because of the indiscriminate disposal of pollutants both organic and inorganic in nature. It stays hard to manner or control the purification of wastewater before it flows to water reservoirs. The growing interest in the improvement and application of novel hydrogels in wastewater remedy is due to its particular chemical characteristics along with hydrophilicity, sensitivity, and functionality. Hydrogels exhibit superior overall performance inside the adsorptive removal of a wide variety of aqueous pollutants along with heavy metals, nutrients, and toxic dyes. In this chapter, we are focusing on the behavior and importance of the hydrogels used so far for the removal of both organic and inorganic pollutants from wastewater. With this contribution, we will be able to elaborate the answer for why these hydrogels are superior than other materials used for the same purpose. More attention is given to the removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater using different hydrogel systems

Tension pneumocephalus after right dacryocystorhinostomy: A rare but potential serious complication

    Get PDF
Tension pneumocephalus is a phenomenon in which air enters through dural injury in the brain and then expands and causes a mass effect. The injury can be due to any neurosurgical procedure, trauma, infection and/or neoplasm. A 63-year-old female known case of diabetes and hypertension had an elective procedure of right dacryocystorhinostomy present to the emergency department the very next day with a loss of consciousness. Urgent CT of the head showed air in the cranium (pneumocephalus). A radiological sign named Mount Fuji is classical for tension pneumocephalus. She was closely monitored and shows good clinical improvement allowing the neurosurgery team to avoid any intervention. The rationale to present this case is that to our knowledge, this is the first case in which tension pneumocephalus had occurred post-dacryocystorhinostomy. Due to the delicate region operated during eye surgeries, one should be more careful and vigilant

    Insect sex chromosomes

The functional status of the X chromosome in Acheta domesticus has been analysed at the whole chromosome level on the basis of (1) 3H-thymidine autoradiography, (2) 5-BrdU/AO fluorescence microscopy, (3) in vivo 5-BrdU incorporation and (4) 3H-UdR induced aberrations. The rationale of these techniques in relation to the functional aspect of the X chromosome is that the inactive X chromosome would (1) show asynchrony in DNA synthesis, (2) show differential fluorescence, (3) respond differentially to in vivo 5-BrdU treatment and (4) the active X chromosome would show aberrations when treated with 3H-Uridine. From the results, it appears that the X chromosomes in both male (XO) and female (XX) somatic cells of Acheta are euchromatic (active). Further, the single X in the male is transcriptionally as active as the two X chromosomes in the female. In other words, the single X in the male is hyperactive when compared with the single X in the female. From this it is inferred that the male X chromosome is differentially regulated in order to bring about an equalization of it's gene product(S) to that produced by both Xs in the female. Drosophila melanogaster has a comparable system of dosage compensation. Thus, Acheta is yet another insect showing evidence for an X chromosome regulatory mechanism of dosage compensation. Additionally, it is surmised that sex determination in Acheta is based on an autosomes/X chromosome balance mechanism

CONCEPTUALISING THE ROLE OF INDIA IN NORTH KOREA`S DENUCLEARISATION

    Get PDF
The US and its allies perceive North Korea's acquisition of nuclear weapons as a significant strategic challenge in the region. Diplomatic efforts have been made to persuade the Kim regime to abandon its nuclear programme, but they have failed. The DPRK considers nuclear weapons capability vital for deterrence against external threats and strategically crucial for national defence. India, a key US ally in containing China, has taken a stiffer stance towards Pyongyang's nuclear programme while enhancing its role in contributing to North Korea's denuclearisation. It represents itself as a staunch opponent of nuclear proliferation and the development of sophisticated weapons. This paper explores India's role in North Korea's perceived denuclearisation. It highlights that India has adopted a dual-standard approach to nuclear proliferation and sophisticated weapons and is also trying to create a technological nexus between Pakistan and North Korea, allegedly to achieve strategic ambitions in South Asia and assert pressure on Pakistan with the help of the US and its Western allies.   Bibliography Entry Kakar, Sher Ali and Muhammad Adil Khan. 2023.
