    Inequality and the Dynamics of Poverty and Growth

    This paper models the dynamic interactions between growth and distribution in the analysis of the behavior of poverty over time. The model permits formal analysis of the factors that led to the growth collapse as well as the rise in poverty in Africa and other developing regions, except Asia, during 1975-96 period. Using indicators of average country performance during this period-- in terms of the rate of acceleration of growth, changes in poverty and extent of inequality—the model suggests tentative strategies for dealing with poverty. The main policy recommendation of this analysis is that, for the majority of countries—36 out of 47—any serious strategy for poverty reduction must include both policies for accelerating growth as well as measures for effecting more equitable income distribution. Moreover, the latter must be sufficiently deep either to shake-off the "transitional", though lingering, "low equilibrium trap" that characterizes some economies; or to more others from the "bad" equilibrium of stationary, but high, poverty.

    Developing a Web-bases System of Bengkulu Tourist

    One of the main programs of local government of Bengkulu city is tourism sector development. One of its main activities is to promote tourism objects. Internet technology is one of the ideal channel and a powerful tool to promote tourism with a very low cost. By this technology, it can provide information in a web form, so the users will easily find information such as several options of attractive tourist destination places and supporting the existing facilities at each tourist attraction. Results from testing respondents obtained 19% strongly agreed, 55% agreed, 16% neutral and 10% disagreed. With this result, we can conclude that the system can help the local government of Bengkulu city in promoting its tourism objects. In addition, this system can also be useful as informative inputs for investors who want to develop a specific tourist attraction. The expected impact of this system is the number of tourists visiting the city of Bengkulu significantly increased

    Seiring dengan perkembangan kemajuan teknologi yang semakin pesat, persaingan dalam hal informasi dan pemasaran suatu barang maupun jasa adalah merupakan hal yang paling penting. Meninjau dari hal tersebut pemesanan tiket dengan menggunakan jasa layanan internet adalah sangat perlu. Disamping kemudahan dalam proses informasi pemesanan tiket secara on-line. Sistem yang dikembangkan adalah sistem pemesanan tiket pesawat berbasis web, yaitu sistem yang mampu memberikan informasi tentang penerbangan dan pemesanan tiket kepada konsumen. Obyek yang digunakan dalam permasalahan ini adalah PT. Lion Air. Selain sarana informasi pemesanan, sistem tersebut juga merupakan salah satu media penyedia informasi global mengenai Perusahaan yang bersangkutan kepada khalayak ramai. Dalam pengimplementasian sistem, teknologi PHP (PHP Hypertext Pre Prosessor) yang merupakan teknologi server-side scripting, yaitu pemrosesan program yang dilakukan di server sebelum dikirimkan ke client. Sistem juga didukung dengan sebuah sistem database yang berfungsi untuk menampung data-data mengenai pesawat, airline, konsuman.berita dan konfirmasi

    A Study of the Morphological and Histological Structure of the Caudal Fin of the Female Swordtail Fish Xiphophorus helleri and the Effect of Hydrocortisone on it

    The caudal fin is one of the most important types of fins used in the movement of fish and is important in studying the effect of various factors on bone, especially medicines and drugs. The females of the Xiphophorus helleri were obtained from aquarium fish shops. The mature females were divided into two groups, each containing 14 fish, placed in 60 liter glass aquarium, the first group treated as control group, while the second group was treated with Hydrocortisone Sodium Succinate (Roxcortisone) with a concentration of 2.5 mg/1. After a month of experimentation, the samples were fixed by a Formalin 10% in order to prepare them for the whole-mount loading method and the normal tissue sections. The results of the phenotypic study of the caudal fins of female X. helleri showed that they consist of three types of fin rays, which are unsegmented and unbranched, segmented and unbranched,  and segmented and branched. These three types differ in terms of shape and structure , as histological structures showed that the first type rays, i.e.  unsegmented and unbranched, and the first ray of the second type, i.e. segmented and unbranched, have pear shaped. The cavity between the two halves of rays is filled with connective and neural tissue, while the other rays of second type have a heart shape and  filled with  muscle tissue. The shape of the  third type, i.e. segmented and branched, varies depending on their location in the fin. The results of the study of  morphological of the caudal fin of females treated with hydrocortisone showed that there was an irregularity in the fin rays in general, which led to a difference in the branching positions of the branched rays compared to the control group. It was also noticed that there was a fusion in the rays composing the fin and another fusion of internodes composing the one fin in comparison to control group.     Genotype by environment interaction and stability analyses of grain yield of selected maize (Zea mays L.) genotypes in eastern and central Sudan

    In this study, 22 open pollinated maize genotypes introduced from International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) plus two local checks (Var113, Hudieba-2) were evaluated over two seasons (2017 and 2018) and four locations, viz. New Halfa, Kassala, Gezira and Elsuki Research Station farms of the Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC) of the Sudan. The objectives of this study were to determine magnitude of G x E interaction and identify high yielding and stable genotypes under different environments. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replicates. Combined analysis of variance revealed highly significant (P<0.01) variation among environment, genotype, and genotype by environment interaction (GEI). This is an indication of inconsistency of genotypes in response to changing environment, the high influence of environment on yield performance among the maize genotypes and, also, the significant effect of environments indicated that the testing environments were significantly different from each other in yielding potential expression. AMMI analysis of variance for grain yield showed the environment contribution by (24.06%) of the total yield variation and genotypes explained only (9.84%) of the variation. Also, substantial percentage of G x E interaction sum of squares, explained by G x E (50.41%) followed by IPCAI (19.22%) and IPCA2 (15.52%) of the variation. Based on grain yield potential and statistical stability analyses, i.e. Eberhart and Russel model (1966) as well as the additive main effect and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) analysis, revealed that, the genotypes TZBR Eld-4-WC1, BR9922-DMRSR,TZBR Comp1-w, TZBR Comp1-Y and TZBR YPOP STRCY were  recommended for the high yielding favourable supplementary irrigation condition (over 3000 kg/ha) of New Halfa, Gezira and Elsuki while the genotypes TZBREld-3C5, TZBREld-4-WC1, HYDERAB, 97502 (RE) and ECA STRIGOFE-153 were recommended for the unfavourable low yielding (less than 1500 kg/ha) rainfed condition of Kassala
