    A review on the most important medicinal herbs native to Iran with anti-acetaminophen toxicity

    Acetaminophen is an analgesic and anti- fever drug, which can be toxic in high doses and leads to hepatic and renal injury. Acetaminophen poisoning can cause many complications and injuries in the body including vomiting, diarrhea, malaise, shock, jaundice, and liver failure and in some cases will lead to myocardial and kidney damage. Against all toxic and destructive effects of drugs like acetaminophen, some compounds are found that can partially restrain poisoning of abuse such compounds. In this review article, medicinal plants native to Iran have been reported, which are used to protect acetaminophen toxicity. In this review study, searching the articles with key words such as acetaminophen, hepatotoxicity, herbs, extracts, and essential oils were used. Searching the articles was conducted through databases of income in Iran like Google Scholar, ISI January, MegaIran, and a number of other databases. Medicinal plants including green tea, turmeric, cress, dandelion, and capers are the most important medicinal plants against the toxicity of acetaminophen. It seems that pharmacological bioactive and antioxidants substances obtaining from plant and biological materials are anti- acetaminophen poisoning. © 2009-2016, JGPT

    Comparison of Methods to Reduce Grid Orientation Effect in Miscible Flood Simulation

    Numerical dispersion is an artefact of current numerical analysis techniques that can cause severe distortions in simulations of processes in which relatively rapid saturation changes occur. Grid Orientation Effect (GOE) is a phenomenon in simulation caused by numerical dispersion, in which calculated performance is influenced by the orientation of the grid relative to the locations of injection and production wells. Pressures as well as saturations are distorted by grid orientation. This effect can cause serious problems in simulation of steam flooding or miscible-gas displacements. Therefore it is the objectives of this project to investigate the seriousness of this problem and the means in reducing the effect, using a numerical simulation. Carbon dioxide (CO2) miscible flooding process is being simulated on a homogeneous conceptual model, utilizing both parallel and diagonal grid configurations. Three methods of reducing GOE were studies; namely the two point upstream weightage method, nine-point scheme and increment of grid block (refining grid). Results were analysed and compared to evaluate the effectiveness of each method used. Results showed that the nine-point scheme gives the highest incremental recovery. However, in overall, combination of the three methods in parallel orientation yields the highest increment (9.15%). The average result for comparing the highest in parallel orientation and the lowest in diagonal orientation is 6.906%. Since the result is around 7%, it can be concluded that the results are converging

    Abstract: Medical errors are known as the most important challenges that healthcare systems in all countries are encountered to them. To provide security and safety for patient is one of the major items in the health care systems. Confessing medical errors imposed on patient and education system is found to be an important aspect of medical ethics and care in turn lowers incidence of errors. Given the importance of identifying and reporting occurred medical errors, the present research aimed to assess medical errors in hospital wards of Shohadaye Ashayer Hospital Khorramabad so that findings of this research can inspire us to incorporate medical errors as a very important subject in the curriculum of medical students and finally physicians can do best examination and treatment with minimal or no errors and inaccuracies. The present research is descriptive in nature which lasted from April to March 2015. Statistical population (subjects) included employees and supervisors, nurses, staffs, lab safety facilitator, pharmacy safety facilitator, surgery room personnel, equipment and personnel in the hospital wards, including the emergency department, men surgery, women surgery, operating room, orthopedics, internal medicine ward, neurology, laboratory room, surgery, infectious, ophthalmic, reception, pharmacy and CCU hospital in Shohadaye Ashayer Hospital- Khorramabad. © 2009-2016, JGPT

    Improved conversion efficiency of Ag2S quantum dot-sensitized solar cells based on TiO2 nanotubes with a ZnO recombination barrier layer

    We improve the conversion efficiency of Ag2S quantum dot (QD)-sensitized TiO2 nanotube-array electrodes by chemically depositing ZnO recombination barrier layer on plain TiO2 nanotube-array electrodes. The optical properties, structural properties, compositional analysis, and photoelectrochemistry properties of prepared electrodes have been investigated. It is found that for the prepared electrodes, with increasing the cycles of Ag2S deposition, the photocurrent density and the conversion efficiency increase. In addition, as compared to the Ag2S QD-sensitized TiO2 nanotube-array electrode without the ZnO layers, the conversion efficiency of the electrode with the ZnO layers increases significantly due to the formation of efficient recombination layer between the TiO2 nanotube array and electrolyte

    Fabrication of complete titania nanoporous structures via electrochemical anodization of Ti

    We present a novel method to fabricate complete and highly oriented anodic titanium oxide (ATO) nano-porous structures with uniform and parallel nanochannels. ATO nano-porous structures are fabricated by anodizing a Ti-foil in two different organic viscous electrolytes at room temperature using a two-step anodizing method. TiO2 nanotubes covered with a few nanometer thin nano-porous layer is produced when the first and the second anodization are carried out in the same electrolyte. However, a complete titania nano-porous (TNP) structures are obtained when the second anodization is conducted in a viscous electrolyte when compared to the first one. TNP structure was attributed to the suppression of F-rich layer dissolution between the cell boundaries in the viscous electrolyte. The structural morphologies were examined by field emission scanning electron microscope. The average pore diameter is approximately 70 nm, while the average inter-pore distance is approximately 130 nm. These TNP structures are useful to fabricate other nanostructure materials and nanodevices

    Cadastral Survey in Peninsular Malaysia has entered the digital era since 1985 by the implementation of Computer Assisted Land Survey System (CALS) in Johor. Since then the automation process has been evolving and reached fully digital era by the implementation of eKadaster in 2010. Nowadays, Malaysia is moving towards to become a developed country. One of the factors that need to be seen is the quality of information delivery services and the information itself. JUPEM has implemented the SmartCadastre project as to assist in delivering information efficiently and not only limited to land records, but also contain other types of information. After 2 years of using the application, a study needs to be conducted to see the effectiveness of the existence of the application on the user to see its effectiveness especially in the delivery of information. The study was conducted using the questionnaire method for consumers. A total of 300 out of 330 respondents have answered the survey questionnaire. Based on the survey’s result, it was found that applications developed through the SmartCadastre project received a positive feedback from users with 92% respondents give mark in between 8 to 10 out of 10. However, there are a number of suggestions and constructive comments from users and one of it is the information presented is not up to date. In conclusion, users are satisfied with the outcome of the SmartCadastre project. Through the results of the study, several methods have been proposed for updating purpose to ensure the quality of the information presented to the user

    Improvement in the photoelectrochemical responses of PCBM/TiO2 electrode by electron irradiation

    The photoelectrochemical (PEC) responses of electron-irradiated [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM)/TiO2 electrodes were evaluated in a PEC cell. By coating PCBM on TiO2 nanoparticle film, the light absorption of PCBM/TiO2 electrode has expanded to the visible light region and improved the PEC responses compared to bare TiO2 electrode. The PEC responses were further improved by irradiating an electron beam on PCBM/TiO2 electrodes. Compared to non-irradiated PCBM/TiO2 electrodes, electron irradiation increased the photocurrent density and the open-circuit potential of PEC cells by approximately 90% and approximately 36%, respectively at an optimum electron irradiation condition. The PEC responses are carefully evaluated correlating with the optical and electronic properties of electron-irradiated PCBM/TiO2 electrodes

    The Salient Motives for Malaysia Aviation Industry Sustainability: An Explorative Study on Business, Management and Technology Components in Aviation Management Program in Malaysia

    The purpose of this research is to develop a comprehensive evaluation framework of three important elements, namely business, management, and technology embedded in the newly developed Master of Science program in aviation management. A Focus group interview has been adopted in this study with the involvement of aviation management faculty members and also panel members from the Board of Studies (BOS). Two prominent aviation practitioners and two leading academicians with aviation background were called for a focus group discussion and the meeting held for six (6) hours. Alignments of the course offered need to be formed to link with the aviation industry 4.0 and aviation industry 5.0. This study reveals the critical needs and issues at the industry perspective and drives new areas for an academician to focus on the syllabus and research. This study bridges the gap between industry and academicians by keeping scholars and practitioners abreast of the timeliest industry-academician framework. It elevated the current thinking necessary for better performance of the industry, as well as the quality of the new proposed master program. This study clearly shows both academic and industry players related needs to establish a new program by consolidating both theoretical development and industry career. Recommendation to all academicians, practitioners, and policymaker are also highlighted in this study

    Bending Performance of Timber Beam Strengthened with Passive Prestressing

     Prestressing technology and its application is common in concrete design and construction particularly in Malaysia and most parts of the world. However, prestress strengthening in timber is rare and not widely applied especially in Malaysia. Application of prestressing in timber has the potential to allow the use of longer span with reduced cross-sectional size and simultaneously exhibiting some level of ductility through the prestressing rod since timber material is susceptible to brittle tensile failure. This paper highlights exploratory research into the extent of bending performance enhancement in Malaysian Kempas species timber beam strengthened by way of passive prestressing. The research was conducted to investigate the change in bending strength and moment capacity of timber beam with passive prestressing rods installed at different lever arm positions, and the enhancement of moment capacity of timber beam with and without passive prestressing.  Five Kempas timber specimen configurations with size of 40 mm (b) × 90 mm (d) × 900 mm (l) were prepared for four-point bending tests, and their bending behaviours were evaluated. The timber beam with passive prestressing steel rods applied at tension side bottom fibre of timber beam exhibited the greatest enhancement in bending performance and stiffness. The improvement of bending performance ranges from 1.1 to 1.5 times greater compared to the timber beam without prestressing steel rods. The improvement of stiffness in prestressed timber beam is up to 11% at service limit state and a reduced rate of stiffness degradation is prominent
