ABOUT KINDNESS AS A CHARACTER TRAIT. AN EXPLORATORY STUDY

    Get PDF
Kindness is a subject of study that is equally concerned with psychology, religion, philosophy, or pedagogy. Seen through the prism of the significantly different explanations and meanings associated with these sciences, the debate over its innate or acquired character and the research conducted on the benefits of practicing kindness, represent as many points of departure for our scientific approach, which seeks to identify the defining components of kindness, such as are they currently felt by young people in Romania. To achieve this objective, following an exploratory study, there were identified a series of attributes/behaviors of a good person, and organized in the form of a list of qualities, as they were detected after interviewing several 545 young people, students at several faculties of the University of Craiova. The conclusions regarding the possibility of acquiring these qualities through training, our vision regarding the referred subject as well as the openings to future interesting areas of exploration regarding kindness as a character trait, conclude this non-exhaustive material, which, however, aimed to reflect a current reality regarding the researched subject

One of the main objectives of the teaching is to reach those psycho-emotional springs of those who participate in the teaching act able to turn the participants into captives of the discourse, ideas, and relationship that is built in the created teaching context. Fascination is the way, and the professor is in the hypothesis to realize this act. This article presents the results of a study on the qualities that a professor should possess to be fascinating, as it was identified and described following the exploratory approach focused on questionnaire-based research applied to a number of 130 students in the first year from different faculties of the University of Craiova. The final results, obtained through the expert consultation technique, corroborated with the Critical Incident Technique and the Assessment Scale with Behavioral Anchors, were organized in the form of a hierarchical list of qualities of the fascinating professor, a list that allowed to draw current conclusions regarding directions likely to develop professor teaching approaches

Virtual reality has recently become a trend that each and everyone appreciates, which everybody wants – and constantly tries – to understand, is a topic that is stirring interest at all times. Using virtual reality, along with several other fields related to it, may seem unstable at first, but once the necessary information is assimilated, their utility starts to sound promising. Our study aims to bring together the benefits of virtual, augmented and mixed reality within a classroom, emphasizing their use in the formation of a teacher. Starting with an investigative approach based on J. C. Flanagan’s Critical Incident Technique, and combined with P.C. Smith and L.M. Kendall’s Development of Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scales (which is purposed to identify the main competencies a teacher that is correctly adapted to the Digital Natives era should possess), this study aims to emphasize the potential applicability of virtual reality in constructing certain competencies, such as communicative, informational, technological, instrumental, decisional, appreciative or competencies related to using new technologies. The conclusions reflect a series of advantages and disadvantages of the virtual environment and the applicative way in which these can be used to complete what we already possess or we aspire to obtain

Spectrum Sensing With Energy Detection in Multiple Alternating Time Slots

    Get PDF
Energy detection (ED) represents a low complexity approach used by secondary users (SU) to sense spectrum occupancy by primary users (PU) in cognitive radio (CR) systems. In this paper, we present a new algorithm that senses the spectrum occupancy by performing ED in K consecutive sensing time slots starting from the current slot and continuing by alternating before and after the current slot. We consider a PU traffic model specified in terms of an average duty cycle value, and derive analytical expressions for the false alarm probability (FAP) and correct detection probability (CDP) for any value of K . Our analysis is corroborated with numerical results in which Monte-Carlo simulations are used to determine FAP and CDP to confirm the validity of the analytical expressions obtained and to illustrate that good receiver operating characteristic (ROC) performance is reached for reasonably small values of K

    Get PDF
Communication competences are an important indicator of professional success in most areas of activity and a predictor of social success of modern man. This study is a theoretical approach aimed to substantiate a number of good practices based on role-play as an active-participatory communication competences training in general, and for managers in particular. Starting from the definition of „communication” and „competence”, it was decided to operationalize the concept of „communication competences” in order to identify pathways of the formative approach based on role-play, while emphasizing the importance of the context (actual or anticipated ) in which communication takes place. The results obtained show that ameliorating and improving communication skills can be achieved through learning, practicing and introspection, taking into consideration indicators such as: (1) the analysis of the context of communication, (2) the conduct of rendering each other sensitive, of strengthening and motivating each other, (3 ) the conduct of active listening, (4) the conduct of observation, (5) the conduct of oral communication, (6) formulating and asking questions, (7) providing feedback - empathic conduct, (8) psychomotric conduct and (9) nonverbal conduct. Competences are applicable contextually - updated differently in different situations, educating the reflective practice capacity of the profession becoming indispensable - which shows the importance of personal development in gaining professional success.communication, communication competence, role-play, communication context.

AbstractThe impact of new media on the organization of the companies has increased a lot in the recent years. This was achieved either through the implementation of new media tools for the business management, or by opening up to clients or other companies using social media. Attracting new customers and communicate with them by using social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter that have become a necessity. In this work we have done a case study applied to press trust in Romania. For a period of 2 years will be done a total of 5 marketing campaigns on the social network platform Facebook. In this paper we will present the results of the first three campaigns, the other two still being in progress. We will see the link between campaigns and various specific metrics, such as the number of users, the number of likes on the company's Facebook page or revenues from online advertising

TEMPERATURE INFLUENCE AND MULCHING EFFECT ON PARASITIC PLANTS AND GRAPEVINE

Temperature of soil is one of the most important factors that can affect the good development of the plant. The functional activity of the plant can be affected to the same extent at low and high temperatures of the soil. Mulch is a protective layer, placed on the surface of the soil, around the plant to prevent moisture evaporation. In general, mulch is often used to maintain optimum soil temperature because mulches modify hydrothermal regime, recycles plant nutrients, promote crop development and increase yields. The mulching materials are classified into several categories: organic materials which contain plant products and animal wastes, synthetic materials which are based on petroleum products and special materials based on polymer films. During the time, several research has been made to identify the impact of the mulch on soil and weeds, withal different types of mulch materials and their characteristics. The research has shown that the application of weed mulch at talessing, conserved more water, reduced soil temperature, increased volumetric heat capacity and thermal conductivity. It is concluded that mulch increased the heat conservation and keep the favorable temperature for vineyard soil

Cerebral aneurysms are pathologic focal dilatations of the cerebrovasculature that are prone to rupture. Frequentlly asymtomatic till the moment of eruption, they become symptomatologically polymorphe when complicated with hemorrhage. Aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage accounts for about 10% of stroke but due to the relatively young age of affected individuals and high morbidity and mortality, the earlier diagnosis and treatment strategy of cerebral aneurysms is an important medical, social and economic problem
