This study was conducted to examine different factors influencing socio-economic background and the academic performance of undergraduate students enrolled at International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) with a view to assessing their individual performances and improvements. The assessment covers comparative achievements of different faculties of IIUC-Shariah & Islamic Studies, Business Administration, Science & Engineering, Arts &Humanities and Laws. The data were collected from 200 undergraduate students from different faculties of International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) through separate structured questionnaire using the simple random sampling technique. For analysis, simple percentage and linear regression model were run to evaluate comparative importance of the factors. The result shows that over all CGPA of IIUC student is 3.25 (Out of 4.00). Regression results of academic performance of students have varied from faculty to faculty. The result also reveals that age, gender, past academic track, medium of education and absence in the classes have also influenced the academic performances of a student. The study has covered the period of academic year Autumn-2013 to Spring-2014. Keywords: Socio-economic Background, Regression, Faculties, IIUC, Bangladesh

Assessing the Gap between Theory and Practice in Implementing CLT at Secondary Level in Bangladesh: A Case Study

    Get PDF
The Ministry of Education (MOE) of Bangladesh introduced Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) at the Primary and Secondary levels in 1990s in a hope to bring a qualitative change in the field of language teaching. But the outcome has not been up to the mark. There is a gap between theory of CLT and its implementation in our language teaching scheme. Some mismatches are reported in CLT implementation process in Bangladesh. This study aims at identifying the mismatches –factors- that hinder the implementation of CLT at the Secondary level of Bangladesh with a view to drawing the attention of the education administrators to bring necessary changes towards making language teaching more effectiv

Study Attitude And Academic Achievement At Secondary Level In Pakistan

    Get PDF
The author compared study attitudes of low and high achievers by using a self-developed study attitude scale (SAS) consisting of 36 items. Academic performance was measured through marks obtained by the students in the 9th grade examination conducted by the external body.  The analysis revealed that the study attitude of secondary school students was related with their academic achievement.  A t-test for independent samples showed that there was a significant difference between the study attitude of male, female, rural and urban students

Adoption and Implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): An Empirical Study

    Get PDF
The study is an attempt to unearth the current state of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) adoption and implementation in both manufacturing and service firms. Drawing on the conceptualization of multiple theories based in technology acceptance and innovation diffusion model, this study examines the above objectives with a particular reference to the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). Following the deductive reasoning approach, we applied a self-administered questionnaire survey and used 235 replies from 255 collected responses, leaving the data affected with missing and un-matched responses. The result is applied using the structural equation modeling via SmartPLS 2, a second generation regression model, for testing hypothesized relationships. Findings reveal that all the hypothesized influences are found significantly linked through the explanatory variables with the endogenous variables at different levels of significance, except the impact of effort efficiency and resistance to change. Policy implications are also proposed for the full adoption and utilization of ERP to achieve sustainable development goals. Furthermore, we recommend future researchers to focus on action research or experimental data for preventing the generalizability of the observed results

Factors affecting tourists’ satisfaction: An empirical study on Rangamati as a tourism destination

    Get PDF
This study aims to unearth the determining factors of tourist satisfaction in the Rangamati District and explores the degree of interdependence. Data were collected from 140 tourists who visited Rangamati from 2019 to onward were selected based on convenience using a survey questionnaire. The findings of the study revealed that two factors among five such as natural factors, cultural factors were found to have a positive influence in determining tourists’ satisfaction however the other three such as tourism product, destination support services, and financial factors do not influence tourists satisfaction. SPSS-2020 was used for analysis where descriptive statistics were used to express the demographic profile of the respondent and to rank the individual factors to find out which factors are most important for determining the dependent variable. Then, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis has been used to judge the degree of relationship among independent and dependent variables. A set of recommendations was provided which will help to improve the performance of the agencies as well as tourist services and it will gradually bring satisfaction to the local and international tourists

A Huge Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor of Maxilla

    Get PDF
The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a benign, nonneoplastic (hamartomatous) lesion with a slow progressing growth. It occurs in both intraosseous and peripheral forms. This paper reports the case of a female aged 16 years who presented with a swelling in anterior maxilla; canine was missing, and a supernumerary tooth was present in the mid line. Radiology revealed a well-defined radiolucent area associated with impacted canine and root resorption of adjacent teeth, which was diagnosed histopathologically as AOT. The patient was treated surgically and later rehabilitated with fixed prosthesis

Transition to periodic behaviour of flow past a circular cylinder under the action of fluidic actuation in the transitional regime

    Get PDF
This study focuses on the numerical investigation of the underlying mechanism of transition from chaotic to periodic dynamics of circular cylinder wake under the action of time-dependent fluidic actuation at the Reynolds number = 2000. The forcing is realized by blowing and suction from the slits located at ±90° on the top and bottom surfaces of the cylinder. The inverse period-doubling cascade is the underlying physical mechanism underpinning the wake transition from mild chaos to perfectly periodic dynamics in the spanwise-independent, time-dependent forcing at twice the natural vortex-shedding frequency. This work has been financed by the Spanish and Catalan Governments under grants FIS2016-77849-R and 2017-SGR-00785, respectively. Study of QCD dynamics using small systems

The multiplicity, finite system size and collision energy dependencies of heat capacity (CVC_V), conformal symmetry breaking measure (CSBM) and speed of sound (csc_s) have been investigated using ALICE data for p+pp+p collisions at s\sqrt{s} = 7 TeV. The aim of this study is to ascertain the possibility of formation of a thermalized medium in such collisions. We find that there is a threshold in charged particle multiplicity beyond which CVC_V, CSBM and csc_s attain plateau. The presence of such threshold in multiplicity is further reflected in the variation of these quantities with center-of-mass energy (sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}}). In order to have a grasp on experimentally obtained results, variation of pT\langle p_T \rangle with multiplicity has also been studied. The experimental results have been contrasted with PYTHIA8 and it is found that PYTHIA8 is inadequate to explain the features reflected in these quantities, thereby indicating the possibility of thermalization in such small system. It is also observed that the finite size effects alone cannot explain the non-extensive nature of particle spectra in p+pp+p collisions.Comment: Improved versio
