Type 2 diabetes is the most common form and is characterized by the failure of cells to recognize and respond to insulin which is if not treated accurately, many complication almost always will occur (include cardiovascular, neurological and many others) .This study aims to determine the  hypoglycemic effect of cinnamon (a kind of spices used for food in eastern and middle-east countries)  in  patients  with  type II DM as adjuvant therapy. Forty male patient of age ranging from 35-61 years old with type  II  DM  (poorly  controlled  on oral anti-diabetic drugs) where clinical  assigned for  this study. The results reveled that cinnamon has a significant anti-diabetic effect in reduction of  FBS, RBS and HbA1c with less extent effect on body weight reduction at  p value <0.01. Keywords: Cinnamon, Type II DM, FBS, RBS , HbA1c

Background: Omega3 is a group of fatty acids which is essential and of great importance to the human body, they cannot be produced on their  own, so it must be obtained by following diets that include foods rich in them. Omega 3 is nowadays one of the most desirable components of oils because of its nutritional and functional properties. Through its various processes in cellular metabolism, its therapeutic actions in numerous chronic inflammatory and autoimmune disorders have been identified, gene expression, and signal transduction. Numerous studies have confirmed that acne, psoriasis, and inflammatory skin conditions including atopic dermatitis can all be managed with omega 3. Objective: The review's objective is to provide a brief scientific overview of this condition, which has recently become widespread used in the treatment of skin diseases. Conclusion: The effects of "3 PUFA" in skin illnesses are only seldom studied in research and clinical trials, but prior studies analyzing immune cells predict that these fatty acids will have a wide range of positive benefits. Additionally, there are few findings on keratinocytes, which are thought to make up a significant portion of the epidermis' cells. Future studies should clarify the complete role keratinocytes play in the skin. since the prevalence of inflammatory skin conditions and cancers is rising at the moment, clinical trials in the future on "3 PUFAs" in dermatological sectors are likely to provide us with useful knowledge for the routine clinical management of skin problems. Keywords: Polyunsaturated fatty acids, "PUFAs," omega-3, psoriasis, skin

Desertification Assessment for the Marshes Region Using Soil Quality Indicators, Southern Iraq

    Get PDF
The study aims to conduct an assessment of desertification in the marshlands of southern Iraq by using eight soil indicators. The study area is part of the governorates of Amarah, Basrah and Nasiriyah, with an area of about 27,989 km2. The Mediterranean model of desertification and land use model (MEDALUS) was adopted for the assessment of the soil quality indicators. Satellite image processing of Landsat images and ArcGIS v.10.7 programs were used to analyze different data and produce the soil quality index and maps for evaluating marshes area desertification. This study found that the marshes area is divided into two categories. The first category represented about 3.52%, covering a small area of 984 km2 and classified as non-sensitive to desertification. While the second category represents about 96.48%, covers most of the study area and involves 27.005 km2 and consider sensitive to desertification

An aquous hot , cold and hot ethanolic extracts fraction for Lycium species have been prepared. Qualitative tests have been carried out for detection of their general chemical composition ,and UV-Visible spectra were also obtained .The antibacterial activity of the extracts was tested by the well diffusion method .Human blood cells were used to determine cytotoxicity for the extracts in concentration 500 mg/ml . No cytotoxic effects were observed by this concentration, and this is considered the first step in the work positively and in the continuity of testing the extracts on human by pharmacy and medicine colleges

Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the oral health of osteopenia diabetes mellitus (DM) male, which includes condition of the teeth, the periodontal tissue, and the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Materials and Methods: The basis of the absolute value and t-score, only 42 diabetic osteopenia male patients were included in this study. The examination used only male patients with DM osteopenia, aged between 30 and 70 years; they were divided into two groups according to the type of DM. The following clinical parameters used in this study determined the conditions of periodontal tissues involved: Carious of the teeth, gingivitis, periodontitis bleeding on probing, mobility of the teeth, and number of the teeth and the TMJ included TMJ tenderness, TMJ clicking, limitation in opening, drifting to one side, and statement of teeth like the presence of attrition. Results: The results of this study for the osteopenia DM patients found that the carious teeth and gingivitis occurred in all ages in both groups of DM. TMJ tender, clicking, limiting of mouth opening percentage increased with increasing the age in both groups of DM, the older age more suspected to, periodontitis, bleeding on probing, number of the teeth, and mobility of the teeth also attrition increased with increasing the age in both groups of DM. Conclusion: The oral health for the diabetic osteopenia male patients more effected, the percentage of carious teeth, gingivitis, attrition mobility of the teeth, bleeding on probing periodontitis, and number of the teeth were increased with increasing the age in both the groups of DM

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the major causes of decreased fertility in young females. Multiple extra- and intra-ovarian factors which are worked together or separately are responsible for sub-fertility. However, still, ovulatory dysfunction is the cornerstone that occurs as a result of hormonal dysfunction and consequently affects oocytes' quality, embryonic development and finally, implantation failure with a significant number of females seek assisted reproduction for getting pregnancy
