This paper attempts light on the role of Waqf (=endowments) in reviving life in all its aspects in Jerusalem after its liberation from the Franks by Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi 583 AH / 1187 AD. The endowments made by the Ayyubids in Jerusalem played a major and prominent role in reviving life in the city from all sides which will be clarified by reviewing some of the endowment models in this paper. We will also review the attempts aimed at liberating the Holy City and its people from the hardship and difficult circumstances they went through during the Frankish occupation to turn into a city teeming with life again, where the endowments had a crucial role in the rise of the Holy City as a center of civilization radiation. It is recommended to preserve this holy city and take responsibility for our beloved Jerusalem

The purpose of this paper is to examine empirically the signalling theory for a sample of firms listed at Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) during the period 2001 to 2006. The sample consists of 215 observations. The Event Study Methodology (ESM) is employed to examine the market reaction to dividend change announcements. The naïve model is used to classify the sample under four sub samples; Dividend Increase, Dividend Decrease, Dividend No Change and No Dividend No Change. The market model, mean adjusted model, market adjusted model, market model adjusted with Scholes and Williams and market model adjusted with Fowler and Rorke models are used to generate the expected returns. Also, the t-test, ZD test and Corrado’s non-parametric test are used to examine the significance of the mean and cumulative abnormal returns. Overall, the results show that the market reacts positively to dividend increase, dividend decrease and dividend no change announcements. In addition, the results indicate that there is no significant market reaction to dividend no change sample with zero distributions. This result indicated that there is little value-relevance to dividend change announcements. The interpretation of the positive market reaction is related to dividend release announcements rather than dividend changes. Therefore, there is some support to the signalling hypothesis to dividend release. Furthermore, applying thin trading models and non-parametric tests leads to the same conclusion

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused immense suffering in several aspects of human life worldwide. The present study investigates the potential social and economic impacts of Covid-19 on Jordanian society during home quarantine. An online survey was distributed electronically to a sample of (1115) members of the Jordanian society. In the forty-questions, we attempted to examine the impact of the quarantine on the people on the socio-economic level using a 5- point Likert scale. The paper came out with the following findings. First, the members of the Jordanian society are affected more economically than socially; however, Jordanian women are found to be more affected on the social and economic levels. Second, people working in the private sector, daily workers, business owners, retirees and the unemployed are more adversely affected economically than those working in the governmental (public) sector. We offer a set of recommendations, foremost of which is to cease the closure of childcare centres (nurseries and kindergartens) to safeguard womens economic participation and augment its ratio and to safeguard the limited gains of women. In addition, to support the workers in the private sector and daily workers during the pandemic. It recommended conducting further similar studies related to the period of recovery from the spread of the virus to define the requirements for overcoming the repercussions of the pandemic
