    This research aimed at investigating The contribution of the basic schools principals in identifying and caring for the gifted students in Mukalla city. The researcher used the quantitative and qualitative approach to achieve the aims of the research, and used two tools; the first tool is the questionnaire which was prepared by the researcher, The second one is the open ended interview. The researcher took all the members of the research community who are the principals of the basic schools in Mukalla city. In the open ended interview, the researcher selected two schools, one is governmental and the second is private. The open ended interviews were conducted with group of teachers, students, and two principals, the results are as follows: The knowledge of the characteristics of gifted students and The knowledge of methods of identifying and caring for the gifted students by the principals of basic schools in Mukalla city was high. The contribution of the basic schools principals in Mukalla city in identifying and in caring for the gifted students was average. The administrative and financial obstacles which face the principals of basic schools in Mukalla city in identifying and caring for the gifted students were high. The results of quantitative research part showed that there were no differences in the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) in the responses of a search community whether the school is ( governmental , private ) in identifying and caring for the gifted students. While the results of qualitative research showed that there are differences in favor of the private school

    Quality assurance in higher education in the Maldives: past, present, and future

    Quality assurance in higher education is a hot topic with the increased number of students graduating from postgraduate programmes offered by the higher education institutions. This qualitative study aimed to look at the history and the current status of the quality assurance mechanisms in the Maldives; identify its strengths and weaknesses; and make informed recommendations. Critical event narrative inquiry was used and data were collected through interviews and analysis of documents. Content analysis of data collected revealed that Maldives was one of the very first countries in the region to establish such a mechanism and it was very similar to that of Australia. The most significant finding was that the body mandated to assure higher education quality and did not have any power or regulatory authority. Therefore, it is important that the authority be an independent body established by an act of parliament with the regulatory power

    The Effect of STEM Curriculum Based on Islamic Perspective on 9th Grade Talented Female Students' Critical Thinking in Gaza

    The study aimed to uncover the effect of using a Developed Science Curriculum Based on STEM approach with Islamic Perspective on Improving Critical Thinking Skills among 9th Grade Talented female students in Gaza. To achieve the study objectives, the two researchers analyzed the content "Human body organs" in science course to the ninth grade in the light of critical thinking skills, as its shown that critical thinking skills which are available in the unit are conclusion, deduction, interpretation, Arguments evaluation, and hypotheses. The researchers used the quasi-experimental approach. The study used critical thinking skills test as tool. The study was conducted on 21 female 9th grade talented students in west Gaza Directorate. Results of the study showed statistically significant differences at significance level (α = 0.01) between the average scores of the critical thinking skills of the experimental group in the pre/post application of critical thinking skills test. In addition, the results showed differences in the post application in all critical thinking skills, and that thea Developed Science Curriculum Based on STEM approach with Islamic Perspective has a significant impact (ƞ² = 0.61)

    الحاجات الإرشادية لطلبة مدارس الموهوبين بولاية الخرطوم Students’ Counseling Needs at Gifted Schools in Khartoum State

    The study aimed at investigating the students’ counselling needs at gifted schools in Khartoum. The sample of the study consisted of 172 out of 258 students. 86 were male students and 86 were female students from three education districts namely Khartoum, Umdarman and Bahri. A questionnaire of 72 items was developed, standardized and distributed. Then, data was collected and analysed using SPSS package. The results showed that the counselling needs for the gifted sample vary. Health Counselling needs were high and the family counselling needs were second in ranking whereas the results of the rest dimensions namely school, social and professional counselling needs were low. The study concluded with a set of recommendations particularly in the area of health counselling needs as well as strengthening the cooperation between schools’ counsellors and parents

    تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى البحث عن مفهوم الحكمة، ومكوناتها، والطرق والأدوات المستعملة لقياسها، وذلك من خلال اتباع منهجية التحليل والمراجعة المنتظمة للبحوث العلمية المحكمة في قواعد البيانات والمجلات العلمية المحكمة. وبناء على المعايير التي تم تبنيها فقد تم الإطلاع على 206 بحثا ومقاله علمية و تم التوصل إلى اختيار 30 بحثام منها والتي تم تلبيتها لمعايير التحليل. وأظهرت النتائج، وبالرغم من التباين في التعريفات والمكونات، وجود تطابق إلى حد كبير في التعريفات والمكونات عبر البحوث الـ 30 التي تمت مراجعتها. أما فيما يتعلق بأدوات القياس للحكمة فقد تباينت إلا أنه يمكن القول أن أسلوبي التقرير الذاتي وقياس الأداء هما الشائعان واللذان يمكن الاعتماد عليهما. أوصت الدراسة إلى المزيد من التوضيح و البحث عن الحكمة عبر عينات متنوعة بالإضافة إلى تطوير أدوات تقييم متعددة الوسائط صالحة نظريًا ونفسيًا لتعزيز الدراسة العلمية الدقيقة لهذا البناء المعقد ****************************************************************************************** This paper reports on a systematic review of the empirical research related to the concept of wisdom, its components, and measurement tools. The review encompassed a total of thirty (N = 30) research papers published in refereed databases and journals. Based on the inclusion criteria, some 206 papers were identified and from this list, 30 research papers that met the criteria were accepted for the analysis. The results showed that despite the variations existing in the conceptualizations of wisdom, a great similarity was found in its definitions and components across the 30 studies that were reviewed. Across studies, it was discovered that self-reports and benchmarking are the most common and reliablemeasurement tools of wisdom. The study recommended further clarification and search for wisdom across diverse samples as well as the development of multi-modal assessment tools that are theoretically and psychologically valid to enhance the rigorous scientific study of this complex construct of wisdo

    The current status of governance on Waqf sector in Indonesia

    Purpose In the past, waqf was able to significantly contribute towards the ummah welfare. While the potential remains in this contemporary era, a contrast situation on waqf can be observed in many Muslim countries, including Indonesia. In Indonesia, most of existing waqf assets are not productive. Yet the actual collection of cash waqf is reported to be less than 1% of its perceived potential. National Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) mentioned that this situation occurred due to lack of transparency and good governance on waqf sector in Indonesia. Whereas some studies have acknowledged importance of effective governance for waqf revival, a study that elaborates the current status of governance on this sector is hardly found. The current study aims to elaborate and analyze the reality of governance of waqf sector in Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach Qualitative approach with meta-synthesis of the literatures on governance and waqf in Indonesia is employed in this study. In addition, relevant laws, regulations, published reports, and online sources are also being included. Findings According to Waqf Act 41/2004, Indonesian Waqf Board (IWB) represents the governing body of waqf sector in Indonesia. Theoretically, this body is equipped with certain authorities and resources to conduct the governance mechanism. However, in practice, lack of governance mechanism and issue on governance structure are observed. In addition, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) is also playing a role as Waqf authority in the country. Lack of explicit work clarity and segregation of duties between those two authorities is considered to cause overlap and inefficiency in governance of waqf sector in Indonesia. Hence, clear governance system of waqf sector in term of functioning (mechanism), structure, infrastructure, and composition are in need of development and implementation.     هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى التعرف على مستوى التماثل التنظيمي لدى مديري مدارس التعليم الأساسي وما بعد الأساسي بمحافظة الظاهرة في سلطنة عمان، واستكشاف وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في استجابات أف ا رد عينة الد ا رسة عند مستوى α ≤ 0. 05 تعزى إلى المتغي ا رت النوع الاجتماعي، المؤهل العلمي، سنوات الخبرة، وتحقي قا لأهداف الد ا رسة استخدمت الباحث المنهج الوصفي، كما تم استخدام الاستبانة لغرض جمع البيانات والمعلومات عن طبيعة الد ا رسة، حيث طبقت على عينة مكونة من 74 مدير ومديرة مدرسة، وتوصلت النتائج إلى أن مستوى التماثل التنظيمي لدى مديري مدارس التعليم الأساسي وما بعد الأساسي بمحافظة الظاهرة في سلطنة عمان جاء في المستوى المتوسط بشكل عام، كما كشفت نتائج الد ا رسة عن وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في استجابات أف ا رد عينة الد ا رسة تعزى إلى متغير النوع الاجتماعي لصالح الإناث، وإلى متغير سنوات الخبرة لصالح من هم خبرتهم 10 سنوات فأكثر، بينما لا توجد فروق دالة إحصائية لمتغير المؤهل العلمي

    This study aims to identify the most prominent studnts' personal traits of at the University of Al-Muraqeb Libya. Furthermore, it will be attempted to investigate whether there are statistically significant differences in the personal traits of Al- Marqab students according to their gender and specialization. The study population consists of (11366) students and the sample was (374) students from different disciplines. A standardized tool of personal traits was adopted which included 29 items divided into 5 dimensions. Averages, standard deviations, T-test were calculated. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences for some personality traits based on genders and disciplines

    The study aims at investigating the extent to which life skills are included in grade five science textbook in Yemen. Based on the literature review a draft list of life skills in similar science textbooks for first grades in primary schools was prepared. A category system was developed for the purpose of content analysis. Validity and reliability were ensured for the content analysis tool. Then 12 units of the Yemeni science textbook were analyzed. The results showed that both hands on and preventive skills were included highly. Environmental skills were of medium inclusion where food and health skills were reported of low inclusion. At the end of the study, it was recommended that life skills have to be included in a balanced way. Food and health life skills have to be enhanced for its low inclusion and their significance in pupils’ lives
