    The Impact of Online Reviews on Brand Equity

    The goal of this research is to see how online consumer reviews affect brand equity. Customers of Jordanian online clothing stores make up the study population. Due to the difficulty of reaching all members of the population, an appropriate sampling approach was used, which is often used in research conditions. Appropriate sampling is a non-random sampling method that uses people who are easily accessible. A structured online survey was used to gather primary data. This survey was conducted among Jordanian customers of online clothes retailers. Customers were thus encouraged to take part in the survey by text messages, official websites, and social media channels. The research hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling. The study results showed that the majority of online review dimensions had an impact on brand equity except for reviews time. However, social impact had the highest impact on brand equity. According to the study’s conclusions, marketers must connect with internet marketing methods, particularly social media, and include them into their marketing strategy

    Jamming Detection and Classification in OFDM-based UAVs via Feature- and Spectrogram-tailored Machine Learning

    In this paper, a machine learning (ML) approach is proposed to detect and classify jamming attacks against orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) receivers with applications to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Using software-defined radio (SDR), four types of jamming attacks; namely, barrage, protocol-aware, single-tone, and successive-pulse are launched and investigated. Each type is qualitatively evaluated considering jamming range, launch complexity, and attack severity. Then, a systematic testing procedure is established by placing an SDR in the vicinity of a UAV (i.e., drone) to extract radiometric features before and after a jamming attack is launched. Numeric features that include signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), energy threshold, and key OFDM parameters are used to develop a feature-based classification model via conventional ML algorithms. Furthermore, spectrogram images collected following the same testing procedure are exploited to build a spectrogram-based classification model via state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms (i.e., convolutional neural networks). The performance of both types of algorithms is analyzed quantitatively with metrics including detection and false alarm rates. Results show that the spectrogram-based model classifies jamming with an accuracy of 99.79% and a false-alarm of 0.03%, in comparison to 92.20% and 1.35%, respectively, with the feature-based counterpart

    Wideband impedance-varying n-way wilkinson power divider/combiner for rf power amplifiers

    We propose a compact wideband multi-way power divider/combiner with planar structure for applications to RF power amplifiers (PAs). Uniform transmission lines in the conventional divider are replaced with non-uniform transmission lines (NTLs), which are governed by a truncated Fourier series. An optimization-driven framework is employed in even-mode analysis to obtain the coefficients of the NTLs considering predefined operating bands, whereas three isolation resistors are optimized in the odd-mode analysis to achieve optimal isolation and output port matching over the design bandwidth. For verification purposes, a 4–10 GHz 3-way divider is simulated, and measured. Simulations and measurements are in close proximity and show input/output ports matching of better than –10 dB and transmission of –4.9 ±1 dB across the design bandwidth

    Deposition of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides in the brain is a central event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), which makes Aβ peptides a crucial target for therapeutic intervention. Significant efforts have been made towards the development of ligands that bind to Aβ peptides with a goal of early detection of amyloid aggregation and the neutralization of Aβ toxicity. Short single-stranded oligonucleotide aptamers bind with high affinity and specificity to their targets. Aptamers that specifically bind to Aβ monomers, specifically the 40 and 42 amino acid species (Aβ1-40 and Aβ1- 42), fibrils and plaques have a great potential for diagnostic applications and the treatment of AD.     Aptamer-mediated survivin RNAi enables 5-fluorouracil to eliminate colorectal cancer stem cells

    The development of chemoresistance and inability in elimination of cancer stem cells are among the key limitations of cancer chemotherapy. Novel molecular therapeutic strategies able to overcome such limitations are urgently needed for future effective management of cancer. In this report, we show that EpCAM-aptamer-guided survivin RNAi effectively downregulated survivin both in colorectal cancer cells in vitro and in a mouse xenograft model for colorectal cancer. When combined with the conventional chemotherapeutic agents, the aptamer-guided survivin RNAi was able to enhance the sensitivity towards 5-FU or oxaliplatin in colorectal cancer stem cells, increase apoptosis, inhibit tumour growth and improve the overall survival of mice bearing xenograft colorectal cancer. Our results indicate that survivin is one of the key players responsible for the innate chemoresistance of colorectal cancer stem cells. Thus, aptamer-mediated targeting of survivin in cancer stem cells in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs constitutes a new avenue to improve treatment outcome in oncologic clinics

    Cloaca is a rare, complex malformation encompassing the genitourinary and anorectal tract of the female in which these tracts fail to separate in utero, resulting in a single perineal orifice. Prenatal sonography detects a few cases with findings such as renal and urinary tract malformations, intraluminal calcifications, dilated bowel, ambiguous genitalia, a cystic pelvic mass, or identification of other associated anomalies prompting further imaging. Multi-disciplinary collaboration between neonatology, pediatric surgery, urology, and gynecology is paramount to achieving safe outcomes. Perinatal evaluation and management may include treatment of cardiopulmonary and renal anomalies, administration of prophylactic antibiotics, ensuring egress of urine and evaluation of hydronephrosis, drainage of a hydrocolpos, and creation of a colostomy for stool diversion. Additional imaging of the spinal cord and sacrum are obtained to plan possible neurosurgical intervention as well as prognostication of future bladder and bowel control. Endoscopic evaluation and cloacagram, followed by primary reconstruction, are performed by a multidisciplinary team outside of the neonatal period. Long-term multidisciplinary follow-up is essential given the increased rates of renal disease, neuropathic bladder, tethered cord syndrome, and stooling issues. Patients and families will also require support through the functional and psychosocial changes in puberty, adolescence, and young adulthood
