Clinic panel information system: case study of international students in Universiti Utara Malaysia
Health service is one of the important services offered by universities to international students. It is considered a significant measure
that indicates the universitiesâ interest in the
welfare of this segment of students. However,
obstacles related to health service negatively
affect students, and one of these obstacles is the
requirement to present health insurance
documents.Generally, hospitals require students
to show proof of health insurance prior to
treatment. This requirement is a challenge for
students especially in emergency cases, and it
also delays the therapy or surgery. In response to
this issue, this paper aims to develop a prototype
of clinic panel information system that allows
online access to student information, including
their insurance details, and sends e-mail
notifications to students when their insurance is
about to expire.Rapid application development
methodology is used in research design, and
system usability scale was used to evaluate the
usability. The prototype was assessed through a
sample that consists of thirty-six respondents and
was found to produce positive results
Investigation of contamination rates of beef and chicken meats and their products with food-Borne Salmonella spp and antibiotic susceptibility of the bacteria at Kerbela Governorate
This study was conducted at kerbala governorate during the period from November 2021 to March 2022. A total of 310 samples were collected from local and imported chicken meat and beef . These samples were gathered from different locations in Kerbala province and cultured on appropriate media for Salmonella spp cultivation and identification . Then it followed by the initial bacterial isolationprocess on the special and distinctive culture media for Salmonella spp. Results showed that rate of contamination in all examined samples was 17.4 % (in Beef and Chicken meat). Concerning local meat, and out of 20 samples of meat,20 samples of minced meat ,20 samples of sausage and 20 samples of burger; Salmonella spp were isolated from 4(20%),9(45%),1(5%) and1(5%) samples respectively. Moreover, the contamination rate of minced meat with Salmonella spp (45%) was significantly high(p<0.05). However in imported beef samples, the contamination rates2(10%) , 6(30%) , 0(0%) and 0(0%)were reported in 20 samples of meat cut, 20 minced ,20 sausage and 20 burger samples. The rate of contamination in minced meat (30%) was also significantly (p<0.05) higher than others.
Tenecteplase in prosthetic mitral valve thrombosis
AbstractIn the few reported cases of prosthetic mitral valve thrombosis, where surgical intervention was considered as high risk, fibrinolytic therapy had proved life saving. The authors present clinical, laboratory, and imaging data from such a patient, with prosthetic mitral valve thrombosis and its successful management with tenecteplase. The use of tenecteplase as a viable fibrinolytic agent for the first time was justified, due to the lack of immunogenicity concerns compared to streptokinase

Surgical outcomes of gallbladder cancer: the OMEGA retrospective, multicentre, international cohort study
Background Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is rare but aggressive. The extent of surgical intervention for different GBC stages is non-uniform, ranging from cholecystectomy alone to extended resections including major hepatectomy, resection of adjacent organs and routine extrahepatic bile duct resection (EBDR). Robust evidence here is lacking, however, and survival benefit poorly defined. This study assesses factors associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS), overall survival (OS) and morbidity and mortality following GBC surgery in high income countries (HIC) and low and middle income countries (LMIC).Methods The multicentre, retrospective Operative Management of Gallbladder Cancer (OMEGA) cohort study included all patients who underwent GBC resection across 133 centres between 1st January 2010 and 31st December 2020. Regression analyses assessed factors associated with OS, RFS and morbidity.Findings On multivariable analysis of all 3676 patients, wedge resection and segment IVb/V resection failed to improve RFS (HR 1.04 [0.84-1.29], p = 0.711 and HR 1.18 [0.95-1.46], p = 0.13 respectively) or OS (HR 0.96 [0.79-1.17], p = 0.67 and HR 1.48 [1.16-1.88], p = 0.49 respectively), while major hepatectomy was associated with worse RFS (HR 1.33 [1.02-1.74], p = 0.037) and OS (HR 1.26 [1.03-1.53], p = 0.022). Furthermore, EBDR (OR 2.86 [2.3-3.52], p < 0.0010), resection of additional organs (OR 2.22 [1.62-3.02], p < 0.0010) and major hepatectomy (OR 3.81 [2.55-5.73], p < 0.0010) were all associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Compared to LMIC, patients in HIC were associated with poorer RFS (HR 1.18 [1.02-1.37], p = 0.031) but not OS (HR 1.05 [0.91-1.22], p = 0.48). Adjuvant and neoadjuvant treatments were infrequently used.Interpretation In this large, multicentre analysis of GBC surgical outcomes, liver resection was not conclusively associated with improved survival, and extended resections were associated with greater morbidity and mortality without oncological benefit. Aggressive upfront resections do not benefit higher stage GBC, and international col-laborations are needed to develop evidence-based neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatment strategies to minimise surgical morbidity and prioritise prognostic benefit.Funding Cambridge Hepatopancreatobiliary Department Research Fund.Copyright & COPY; 2023 The Author(s).
