    A comparative study of dexmedetomidine versus clonidine in epidural anaesthesia to assess the level of sedation in patients undergoing lower abdominal and lower limb surgery

    Background: To compare study of dexmedetomidine versus clonidine in epidural anesthesia to assess the level of sedation in patients undergoing lower abdominal and lower limb surgery.Methods: This was a comparative study conducted on admitted ASA grade I and II patients undergoing lower abdominal and lower limb surgeries. The patients were divided into three groups of 30 patients each, according to the epidural medication they received:-Group A-received 15ml of bupivacaine (0.5%) and dexmedetomidine (1.0µg/kg body weight) in 1ml of normal saline; Group B-received 15ml of bupivacaine (0.5%) and clonidine (2.0µg/kg body weight) in 1ml of normal saline; Group C-received 15ml of bupivacaine (0.5%) with 1ml of normal saline. The heart rate, blood pressure, sensory dermatome level, Motor blocked level, pain and VAS were recorded at different time intervals. The side effects were also noted.Results: The baseline parameters were comparable among the groups. All the hemodynamic parameters and other study parameters were similar at Min. 0. All the hemodynamic parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure and SpO2 were variable at different time intervals. Motor block level   was significantly (p<0.05) lower in Group C than Group A and Group B from Min 50 to Min 90. The sedation score was observed to be nil in Group C. The post-op pain score became higher in Group C than Group A and Group B at subsequent time intervals. A 3 (10%) of the rescue agents was observed in Group C. Atropine (30%) and mephenteramine (10%) were common rescue agents in Group B. The bradycardia was observed in 30% patients of Group B and in 40% of Group A.Conclusions: On addition of dexmedetomidine as adjuvant to bupivacaine in epidural anesthesia provides better anesthesia and sedation than clonidine as adjuvant to bupivacaine or bupivacaine alone with mild hemodynamic changes which are easily manageable

    Virtualizing Violence: Playing with Power in Multiplayer Online Games (MOGs)

    Gamer-play culture demands the attention of sociocultural anthropologists. Over the course of 2020, I conducted a virtual ethnography of Rust, a multiplayer online survival game developed by Facepunch Studios, to explore how online gamers play with ideologies and infrastructures of race, gender, and empire. Chapter One introduces readers to Rust as a sophisticated virtual world ripe for anthropological investigation. Chapter Two explores how Rust’s hostile economic ecosystem incentivizes positive and negative behaviors like cooperation and compulsion. Chapter Three problematizes in-game violence’s origins from institutionalized, interlocking forms of oppression – particularly the legacy of anti-Black chattel slavery. Chapter Four concludes this thesis and poses new avenues of study. Ultimately, I argue to conceptualize of virtualized violence as an incredibly real, meaningful, and patterned social system that privileges some gamers and marginalizes others

    An experiment was conducted with wheat genotypes NWL-14, K-9162, NWL-1014, NWL-12-2, NWL-12-4, NWL-10-4, K-910-30, NWL-4035, DBW-16, DBW-187, NWL-12 (3) T, Halna, HD-2967 to evaluate heat tolerant in wheat at instructional farm and in the laboratory of Crop Physiology &amp; Plant Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya, India, during rabi season of 2021-2022. Heat stress was induced by delayed sowing 45 days from normal date of sowing (02 December 2022)-(17 January 2023) so that delay sown wheat genotypes could experience heat stress at reproductive stage. Heat tolerant wheat genotypes screened on the basis of Relative Water Content, Catalase activity, plant height, tiller number, number of grains per spike, test weight and grain yield per plant over control under heat stress condition. Heat stress reduces the the growth and yield irrespective of wheat genotypes but heat tolerant genotypes Halna, NWL-1293)T, NWL 10-2 and NWL-12-4 showed less reduction over susceptible ones. Relative water content, proline and catalase activity can be used as a physiological screening indices for heat tolerant genotypes
