Residual Axial Behavior of Restrained Reinforced Concrete Columns Damaged by a Standard Fire

    Get PDF
A simplified procedure to predict the residual axial capacity and stiffness of both rectangular and circular reinforced concrete (RC) columns after exposure to a standard fire provides the means to replace the current descriptive methods. The availability of such a procedure during the design phase provides engineers with the flexibility to come up with better designs that ensure safety. In this paper, finite difference heat transfer and sectional analysis models are combined to determine the axial behavior of RC columns with various end-restraint conditions at different standard fire durations. The influence of cooling phase on temperature distribution and residual mechanical properties is considered in the analysis. The ability of the model to predict the axial behavior of the damaged columns is validated in view of related experimental studies and shown to be in very good agreement. A parametric study is then conducted to assess the axial performance of fire-damaged RC columns. A procedure is proposed to determine the residual strength and stiffness of fire-damaged RC columns in typical frame structures

Kata kunci: efektivitas, kepemimpinan kharismatik, kinerja guru.THE EFFECTIVENESS OF KYAI KHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP IN IMPROVING TEACHER PERFORMANCETHE EFFECTIVENESS OF KYAI KHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP IN IMPROVING TEACHER PERFORMANCEABSTRACTThis study aims to find and analyze data about the effectiveness of kharismatic leadership of the Cleric in improving teacher performance in integrated islamic boarding school Darussyifa Al-Fithroh YASPIDA Sukabumi. This research is a kind of quantitative research. The results of this study suggest that the cleric charismatic leadership in in integrated islamic boarding school Darussyifa Al-Fithroh is "effective" charismatic leadership. The effectiveness is obtained from Kai Square calculations obtained by price x2o 119, 3925. This result can then be compared with the criticism price (significance level) x2t 5% with dk 8 = 15,507. Thus it can be concluded that x2o (observation) is greater than x2t (table) at 5% significance level. This research is recommended to cleric and teacher in boarding school as reference material in improving the effectiveness of cleric’s charismatic leadership in improving teacher performance In integrated islamic boarding school Darussyifa Al-Fithroh YASPIDA School of Sukabumi.

Just Measures: A Methodology for Assessing the Global Value Added of Corporate Activities

This article accepts the premise of stakeholder theory, which asserts that corporations, like other human-run entities, have obligations to all parties affected by their actions. As such, corporations should be given suitable credit for projects that add value for these stakeholders, as well as held accountable for any damage done. To provide this credit and accountability, measurement is necessary. The methodology of measurement for corporate social value creation is in its infancy. Models are incomplete, measures are not validated, and methods used to estimate net value accumulated from different domains need improvement. This article builds on one model of global value added (GVA), examining what methods are necessary to identify relevant domains, provide valid measures, and combine findings for the wide range of domains encompassed by a corporations’ projects. Once this methodology is successfully established, creation of valid measurement scales will warrant emergence of a subdiscipline in business and economics. To use these scales will be a challenge on yet another level, but the potential for an industry index based not on economic but global measures will exist, allowing for fair and transparent accountability of commercial sector activities to other sectors of society. This has particular implications for the health sector, with its complex web of numerous stakeholders. The measurement modality presented here provides the possibility of evaluating all these health sector entities’ contributions to society

Mossbauer and Random anisotropy studies on amorphous ribbons

    No full text
We have studied the Mossbauer and magnetization of melt spun amorphous Fe74-xAlxEr6B20 alloys with 0 less than or equal tox less than or equal to 15. Mossbauer studies were carried at room temperature as well as at 80 K. The average hyperfine field values are found to decrease with the Al concentration. Magnetization studies were carried out under magnetic fields up to 140 kOe. The results were analyzed using random magnetic anisotropy model. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved

Neuropsychiatric and Parkinsonian manifestations of dementia: A case report in a Nigerian woman

    No full text
Neuropsychiatric manifestations sometimes referred to as behavioral and psychological symptoms (BPSD) are not uncommon in dementias, especially in moderate-to-severe cases. When these symptoms occur in the setting of Parkinsonism, fluctuating cognition, visual hallucinations and neuroleptic sensitivity, then the most likely diagnosis is dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). Although this type of dementia is not infrequently encountered in primary care, it may be missed because of its tricky modes of presentation. We report a clinically diagnosed DLB in a 67-year-old Nigerian female to raise awareness among primary care and mental health practitioners in order to enhance better detection and treatment, especially in the setting of a developing economy

Ferromagnetic resonance spectra in Co/Nb multilayers with large Co thickness

    No full text
The perpendicular ferromagnetic resonance spectra for four Co/ Nb multilayered films have been studied. Three of these multilayers had the same thickness of Co (210 Angstrom) with Nb layer thicknesses varying between 18 and 135 Angstrom. The fourth film was a trilayer sandwich film. A multimode spectrum was observed for all the films. The results indicated that the Co films are magnetically coupled even when the Nb film thickness was 135 Angstrom. A new approach to understand the multimode ferromagnetic resonance in magnetic/nonmagnetic multilayer thin film structures was worked out. In this approach, the equation of motion is solved in the magnetic layers, which are assumed to be coupled through a boundary condition. The theoretical calculations gave a good agreement with the experimentally observed field positions when it was assumed that the magnetic properties of the top and the bottom Co layers are slightly different from the intermediate ones.
