Development of the theory of the institution of ḥisbah in medieval Islam
The main focus of this study is to examine the development of the theory of the institution of ḥisbah in medieval Islam. In particular, the study will provide an analysis and paraphrase of the work of Yaḥyā ibn ʻUmar (d. 289/901) which is considered the earliest source on the subject. The study is divided into seven chapters, an Introduction and a Conclusion. The Introduction explains the aims of this study and is followed by the discussions on the origin of the role of market supervision and the definition of ḥisbah. Next, works of medieval Muslim scholars and studies made by the contemporary scholars are reviewed. Chapter One discusses the life and career of Yaḥyā ibn ʻUmar, followed by an analysis of the two texts of his work; Kitāb Aḥkām al-Sūq and Kitāb al-Aḥkām fī Jamiʻ Aḥwāl al-Sūq. In Chapter Two, a paraphrase of these two texts is made. Chapter Three deals with the elements of ḥisbah, covering the discussions on the person carrying out the duty of ḥisbah (i.e. the muḥtasib), the person to be supervised, subject of ḥisbah's supervision and stages of ḥisbah's penalties. The remaining four chapters examine the duties of the muḥtasib. The duty of the muḥtasib to supervise the market is discussed in Chapter Four and Chapter Five examines his duty to supervise moral and religious behaviour. The discussions in Chapter Six is concerned with the supervision of medical professions while Chapter Seven deals with the administration of the city. This is followed by a Conclusion which summarizes the discussions previously made and presents the findings of this study
Perbezaan Personaliti Ekstrovert Dan Introvert Dalam Kalangan Pelajar Pintar Cerdas Akademik (Pca) Berdasarkan Gender (The Diffrences Between Extrovert And Introvert Personality Among Academically Talented Student Based On Gender)
Kajian ini bertujuan mengkaji personaliti ekstrovert dan introvert dalam
kalangan pelajar pintar cerdas akademik (PCA).
Transformasi isu dalam penyelesaian konflik Patani di Selatan Thailand (transformation of issue in reconciling Pattani conflict In Southern Thailand)
The struggle for independence in the Patani conflict remains ongoing until today. Incidents of shooting, bombing, school arsons, and guerrilla raids are still occurring on daily basis. The Thai government has been working to overcome this problem with various approaches and yet, it remains unresolved. Nonetheless, the reconciliation process between 2004 and 2015 had experienced discernible changes when the Patani Liberation Movement (GPP) and the Thai government
were willing to negotiate and dialogue. Moreover, Malaysia is perceived to have successfully played its role as a facilitator in driving both parties to participate in the reconciliation process. This study examines research data which focused on the transformation of issue championed by the GPP from its previous demand for independence to the issue of identity of Malay Patani that has been awhile
subjected to assimilation and discrimination. Identity issue (soft) has been the main factor behind the willingness of both parties to
negotiate in comparison to the issue of claiming independence (hard). Qualitative-based data were analysed using theories and variables
involving conflict triangle approach, symmetric and asymmetric relationships and conflict transformation. The findings of this study
found that the unbalanced structure of relationships (asymmetric) is the cause behind the assimilation of the identity of Malay Muslim
Patani (OMIP). This asymmetric relationship has led to a domination policy over OMIP by the Thai government which eventually triggered the rise of the GPP’s spirit to demand independence for the Patani. Nevertheless, in the years following the January 4, 2004 event, GPP has opted diplomatic approach when consigning the issue of identity
as its main demand than its previous struggle for independence. Hence, the prioritization on the issue of identity is seen as one of the transformation process that unfolded within GPP that eventually resulted a series of dialogue and negotiation. Thus, the transformation
of the issue of independence to identity is perceived as opening up the space for both parties to negotiate. Asymmetric conflict is difficult to
resolve because the Thai government has a greater power than OMIP for which the latter is reluctant to negotiate
Development of Wakf Fund in Public Higher Education Institutions
In light of evolving socioeconomic factors, the annual rise in education costs presents a pressing concern. Johor Islamic Religious Council has appointed special trustees from the UTM Education Wakf Fund and UTHM Education Cash Wakf Fund to address this challenge. This paper aims to analyze the development of wakf funds as practiced by UTM and UTHM. The research methodology employed for this study encompasses content analysis and interviews, unveiling the systematic and effective management of wakf funds for education. Notably, enhancements are evident in fund accumulation, refined management strategies, and the proactive adoption of fundraising approaches. These findings underscore the institutions' commitment to mitigating the escalating cost of education while ensuring sustainable financial support for their student communities
Proposing Waqf New Form (WNF) In waqf land registration system in Malaysia
This paper highlights and discusses the various forms and procedures involved in the registration process of waqf land and suggest the Waqf New Form (WNF) as a solution to the issues that arise in the registration of waqf land in Malaysia. The study sought to answer the following two research questions: What issues arise in the method of waqf land registration in Malaysia? In what ways can such issues be resolved? Design/methodology/approach: This study employed a qualitative research approach and used content analysis to analyse data. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with lawyers, academicians, and executive officers from the Department of Land and Mines (DLM) and the State Islamic Religious Council (SIRC), and reviewed documents were collected mainly from the Department of Waqf, Zakat and Hajj Malaysia (JAWHAR). The study found the WNF to be a solution to the issues that arise in waqf land registration. It was developed to address the current waqf issues such as problematic registration methods, lengthy and complicated procedures, interference in the civil court jurisdiction, and idle waqf land. The WNF resolved the flaws of the previous waqf land registration system in Malaysia. The WNF will provide solutions to the current registration system within the National Land Code, 1965 (NLC), which will secure property rights in the future
