Fistulisation of appendix to other organs or to the exterior through abdominal wall is a rare complication of appendicitis. We present one such rare case of appendicocecal fistula due to appendicitis in a patient initially managed conservatively for appendicular lum

Effect of an Inclined Magnetic Field on the Flow of Nanofluids in a Tapered Asymmetric Porous Channel with Heat Source/Sink and Chemical Reaction

    Get PDF
This article deals with the effect of an inclined magnetic field with heat source/sink on the flow of nanofluids in a tapered asymmetric porous channel. Effect of chemical reaction has been taken into account. The blood is considered as an incompressible electrically conducting viscous fluid. The assumption of low Reynolds number and long wave length approximations has been adopted. Exact solutions for dimensionless axial velocity, concentration and temperature profile are obtained analytically. The obtained results are displayed and discussed in detail with the help of graphs for the variation of different emerging flow parameters

Literariness of Globalization: A Study of The White Tiger

Aravind Adiga`s The White Tiger was published in 2008 and it reflects India after globalization. The thematization of globalization in literature and in turn the influence of globalization on literature has been the concern of many critics in last few years. James Annesley’s Fictions of Globalization (2006) also treats globalization as a theme in a range of contemporary American fiction. But as it is evident that this project of analysing and discussing the relationship between literature and globalization is very vast and requires a lot of time and space, therefore the concern of this paper will be only The White Tiger. The process of globalization in India started with the introduction of New Economic process in 1991 after pursuing the import substitution for nearly forty years. Globalization as an economic activity has not remained detached with other cultural canons of the society. Not only in India, but the interchange of worldviews and ideas has resulted in a major transformation of the lifestyle living standard of people globally

The Effect of Corruption and Governance on Tax Revenues

    Get PDF
Developing countries are typically unable to generate sufficient amount of revenue from taxation because these countries face a number of institutional problems in the process of revenue generation. One of the main problems is corruption in tax administration. The two important components of revenue generation are tax administration and tax system reforms [Brondolo, et al. (2008)]. The main objective of these is to increase the efficiency of tax administrations, specifically by reducing corruption and tax evasion. The second main problem of low revenue generation is political instabilities in developing countries. One of the important characteristics of political instability is unstable and governments and, hence, incoherent policy framework, which hinder in the process of long-term reforms in the system. The quality of governance as a whole is also relevant in this context. It is widely agreed that the presence of tax evasion and corruption of public officials is a social phenomenon that can significantly reduce tax revenue and seriously hurt economic growth and development

    Congenital Intranasal Glioma

Congenital midline swellings of nose are encountered rarely, and nasal gliomas constitute about 5% of such lesions. Various theories have been suggested to explain the pathogenesis. Imaging preferably by MRI is mandated to study the extent and to rule out intracranial extension. Treatment is complete excision, and the approach depends upon the extent of the lesion and availability of expertise. We present the management of one such case of congenital intranasal glioma without any intracranial extension that presented as a septal polyp

SECURING CENTRALIZED SDN CONTROL WITH DISTRIBUTED BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY

    Get PDF
Software Defined Networks (SDN) advocates segregation of network control logic, forwarding functions and management applications into different planes to achieve network programmability, automated and dynamic flow control in next generation networks. It promotes deployment of novel and augmented network management functions to have flexible, robust, scalable and cost-effective network deployments. All these features introduce new research challenges and require secure communication protocols among the segregated network planes. This manuscript focuses on the security issue of southbound interface which operates between the SDN control and data plane. We have highlighted the security threats associated with an unprotected southbound interface and the issues related with the existing TLS based security solution. A lightweight blockchain based decentralized security solution is proposed for southbound interface to secure the resources of logically centralized SDN controllers and distributed forwarding devices from opponents. The proposed mechanism can operate in multi-domain SDN deployment and can be used with wide range of network controllers and data plane devices. In addition to it, the proposed security solution is analyzed in terms of security features, communication and reauthentication overhead

RELAXIN: A MAGICAL THERAPY FOR HEALTHY HEART

    Get PDF
Relaxin (a peptide hormone) has emerged as a cardioprotective agent and plays a vital role in normal cardiac function. By activation a complex network of signaling cascade, relaxin is responsible for creating a healthy environment for heart functioning. Under pathological conditions, such as cardiomyopathy and heart failure, expression level of relaxin is increased dramatically to protect heart. By promoting angiogenesis, vasodilatation, improving ischemia/reperfusion injury and remodeling, relaxin has emerged as a magical agent to address cardiac abnormalities. Over the past 3 decades, various cardioprotection strategies are in use to deal with cardiac diseases, however till date no effective therapy is in clinical practice. Relaxin has emerged as a novel therapeutic agent to have beneficial action during various pathological conditions. In this review, we have discussed different cardioprotective roles of relaxin that marks it, as an effective agent to tackle heart related diseases.Â

TARGETING HIF-1 PATHWAY: A THERAPEUTIC APPROACH TO KILL CANCER CELLS

    Get PDF
Tumorous growth often faces hypoxic (low oxygen tension) conditions and the adaptations of these cells to hypoxic conditions determine their survival. The cancer cells respond to hypoxia by altering the expression of different genes and Hypoxia-Inducible Factor (HIF)-1 is one of it. HIF-1 is a transcriptional factor that response to hypoxia (low oxygen tension) conditions quickly. Expression of HIF-1 gene is essential for increase in vascularization of hypoxic region such as tumor and thus aid in proliferation and survival of cancerous cells. Moreover, HIF-1 signaling in cancer cells has a diverse influence on the metastatic cascade. Targeting HIF-1 is therefore one of the most promising approach to treat cancer. In this review, we have focused on the potential of targeting HIF-1 pathway as therapeutic intervention to treat cancer. Key words: HIF-1 Pathway, Cancer, Hypoxia-Inducibl
