Traditional and Modern Teaching Methods in Teaching Arabic as a Second Language: A Comparative Study

Being created as a talking animal, man learns many languages ​​along with his mother tongue. Similarly, Arabic is also learned as a second language by some. Traditional and modern teaching methods are used to teach it. How can their contributions be seen in language teaching? This research has been carried out with the question as research problem. This research has been carried out with the objective of studying how the contributions of both of them can be found in teaching Arabic language. This research is based on qualitative research methods and information was obtained through research articles, magazines, websites and books as secondary sources. This research has found out about and the contribution of teaching Arabic language through it, and what is modern teaching method? This research has found about the contribution of teaching Arabic language through it. The comparison between the two methods is the final finding of this study

Identifying Grammatical Mistakes among Learners of Arabic as a Second Language (Undergraduates of the Department of Arabic language of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka as a Model): تحديد الأخطاء النحوية بين متعلمي اللغة العربية لغة ثانوية (طلاب قسم اللغة العربية بجامعة جنوب شرق سريلانكا أنموذجا)

تعلم وتعليم اللغة العربية لغير الناطقين بها ليس أمرا سهلا، بسبب أنها لغة أجنبية، ولهذا يخطئ دارسو اللغة العربية (لغة ثانية) على مستوى الجامعة في تحديد الأخطاء النحوية من الجمل البسيطة وإنشاء الجمل الصحيحة فيها، في حين أنهم قد درسوا قواعد اللغة العربية في المدارس العربية في سريلانكا مدة 5 – 7 سنوات، والمدارس الحكومية أيضا. يهدف هذا البحث إلى تحديد الأخطاء النحوية واللغوية في الجمل البسيطة عند الكتابة بين متعلمي اللغة العربية لغة ثانية. لذا يعتمد الباحثان في هذه الدراسة على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. ويستخدمان الأدوات الآتية لجمع المعلومات. أما الأدوات الأولية فيتناولان فيها الاستبانة والملاحظة، وفى الاستبانة يختار الباحثان 159 طالبا وطالبة عشوائيا من قسم اللغة العربية بجامعة جنوب شرق سريلانكا. وأما المعلومات الثانوية فتعتمد على الكتب والمجلات والبحوث والشبكات الإلكترونية وغيرها. ت بارزة من الطلبة السنة الثالثة بأسلوب حواري. وطرق تحليل المعلومات: يستخدم الباحثان منهج التحليل بمساعدة استخدام البرنامج MS Excel لتحليل وتحقيق المعلومات الحصيلة والتقويم على نتائجها. قد حصل هذا البحث على عدة نتائج ومنها؛ أن الطلبة لديهم معرفة كافية عن نظريات الجمل البسيطة، أنهم يرغبون في كتابة الجمل البسيطة وليست لديهم حيرة في ابتداء الجمل البسيطة، ولكن بالنسبة إلى الجانب التطبيقي فإنهم يتقنون كتابة الجمل البسيطة بالأنماط المتنوعة بدرجة متوسطة، أيضا أنهم يصححون الغلط في الجمل البسيطة في درجة متوسطة.Learning and teaching Arabic to non-native speakers is not easy since it is a foreign language and an unexperienced language. Hence, learners of Arabic as a second language at the university level make mistakes to identify grammatical errors in simple sentences and construct correct sentences in them while they have studied Arabic grammar in Arabic colleges in Sri Lanka for 5-7 years and in government schools as well. This research aims to identify grammatical and linguistic errors in simple sentences when writing among second language learners of Arabic. Therefore, the researchers rely in this study on the descriptive-analytical method. The following data are also used to collect information. As for the primary data, the researcher deals with the questionnaire and observation. In the questionnaire, the researcher randomly selects 159 male and female students from the Department of Arabic Language at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. As for secondary data, it depends on books, magazines, research, and website articles. The researcher uses the analysis method with the help of using MS Excel to analyze and verify the obtained information and evaluate its results. This research has obtained several results, including; that the students have all knowledge of the theories of simple sentences, so they like to write simple sentences and are not confused about the beginning of simple sentences. But as for the practical side, they know the writing of simple sentences in various patterns at a medium level. They also correct the error in simple sentences at a medium level
