La integración sociocultural de los inmigrantes en Lleida

En aquest article sobre Noves i velles migracions: dimensions de la integració sociocultural dels immigrants a Lleida (1999), s'analitza de forma concisa aquest fenòmen per identificar les principals característiques diferenciadores dels immigrants de la zona lleidatana. L'article consta de tres apartats. En el primer, la introducció, es resumeixen breument els continguts del treball que donen títol a l'article. El segon apartat tracta sobre la integració dels immigrants i comença per una breu reflexió sobre els canvis d'enfocament a l'hora d'estudiar el fenòmen migratori que ajuda a entendre, per exemple, perquè avui parlem d'integració i no d'assimilació. Posteriorment, s'analitza el model migratori català del qual destaca la inexistència de fractura social malgrat l'elevada arribada d'immigrants a Catalunya, i valora els diferents nivells d'integració assolida en cada onada immigratòria del segle XX. Finalment, es detallen els diferents factors relacionats amb la integració sociocultural (impacte en el creixement demogràfic, sistema educatiu, integració en el mercat laboral i adopció de la llengua catalana) de la població immigrada a la ciutat de Lleida i comarques. El treball conclou que el repte és trobar el model d'integració sociocultural adient per al col•lectiu extracomunitari que integra, majoritàriament, l'onada migratòria iniciada en la dècada dels noranta.The present article, which deals with the issue of New and old migrations: dimensions of the socio-cultural integration of immigrants in Lleida (1999), analyses this phenomenon in detail in order to identify the main differentiating characteristics of migrants in the area of Lleida. The article includes three different sections. The first part, which is the introduction, provides a brief summary of the contents of the work after which the article is named. The second section deals with the integration of the immigrants and starts by making a brief reflection on the changes of approach that need to be made when it comes to study the migratory movement that will help understand, for instance, we nowadays talks about integration instead of assimilation. Subsequently, an analysis is provided of the Catalan migratory model, in which the non-existence of a social fracture is emphasised, despite the high number of new immigrants that arrive in Catalonia. Furthermore, an evaluation is made of the different levels of integration achieved in each wave of immigration during the 20th century. Finally, a list is made with the different factors linked to socio-cultural integration (impact on the demographic growth, educational system, integration in the labour market and adoption of the Catalan language) of the immigrants in the city of Lleida and neighbouring regions. The conclusion of the survey is that the challenge is to find a model of socio-cultural integration that would be appropriate and fitting for the extra-community group integrating mainly the migratory wave that began in the nineteen-nineties.En este artículo sobre Nuevas y viejas migraciones: dimensiones de la integración sociocultural de los inmigrantes en Lleida (1999), se analiza de forma concisa este fenómeno para identificar las principales características diferenciadoras de los migrantes de la zona leridana. El artículo consta de tres apartados. En el primero, la introducción, se resumen brevemente los contenidos del trabajo que dan título al artículo. El segundo apartado trata sobre la integración de los inmigrantes y comienza por una breve reflexión sobre los cambios de enfoque a la hora de estudiar el fenómeno migratorio que ayuda a entender, por ejemplo, porqué hoy hablamos de integración y no de asimilación. Posteriormente, se analiza el modelo migratorio catalán del cual destaca la inexistencia de fractura social a pesar de la elevada llegada de inmigrantes a Cataluña, y valora los diferentes niveles de integración conseguida en cada oleada inmigratoria del siglo XX. Finalmente, se detallan los diferentes factores relacionados con la integración sociocultural (impacto en el crecimiento demográfico, sistema educativo, integración en el mercado laboral y adopción de la lengua catalana) de la población inmigrada a la ciudad de Lleida y comarcas. El trabajo concluye que el reto consiste en encontrar el modelo de integración sociocultural adecuado para el colectivo extracomunitario que integra, mayoritariamente, la oleada migratoria iniciada en la década de los noventa
