Hepatitis C virus epidemiology and prevention in Polish and Swiss population – similar and contrasting experiences

Objective The aim of the study was to review available data on HCV in Poland and Switzerland, in order to compare the two European countries with respect to epidemiological situation and efficiency of the response systems. Material and Methods A search of registries, published and grey literature was performed to assemble data on prevalence, rate of detection of new cases, identified risk factors for transmission, mortality due to HCV, prevalence of HCC and the consequent liver transplantations, as well as data on treatment in Poland and Switzerland. Results Overall, the prevalence of anti-HCV antibodies was similar, not exceeding 1%. However, the major transmission routes of HCV infections were different: medical procedures in Poland and drug injections in Switzerland. By combining the available information it was also possible to demonstrate important differences in efficiency of the response systems. There was approximately 1 new diagnosis per 100 estimated undiagnosed cases in the population in Poland per year, compared to 6 in Switzerland, and the treatment rate per 100 estimated active infections was 2 and 4, respectively. Conclusions Scaling up of the diagnosis and treatment is necessary in both countries; however, the means to achieve this might differ, taking into account the higher concentration of the infections in risk groups in Switzerland than in Poland

BIBLIOTEKARKA nowoczesną KOBIETĄ - sprawozdanie

Sprawozdanie z cyklu bezpłatnych spotkań: BIBLIOTEKARKA nowoczesną KOBIETĄ zorganizowanych przez Bibliotekę Główną Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego przy współpracy z Biurem Promocji i Karier Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Krakowie. Zajęcia odbyły się 23 lutego i 15 marca 2012 roku w Bibliotece Głównej Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w godzinach od 16.00 do 20.00. Dotyczyły zagadnień psychologicznych, a także aspektów związanych z wizerunkiem zewnętrznym. Istotą wykładów był rozwój osobisty, trening interpersonalny, podniesienie samooceny, jak również integracja kobiet pracujących w zawodzie bibliotekarza. Wykłady prowadzili specjaliści z danej dziedziny: psycholog społeczny prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Nęcki, personal coach Michał Mącznik, stylistka Małgorzata Kusper, kosmetolog/wizażystka Aldona Malarz oraz fryzjer stylista Piotr Janus

Priority Programme “Clean Air” – Changes in Management Necessary

Powietrze w Polsce jest jednym z najgorszych w krajach Unii Europejskiej. Na jego jakość wpływają przede wszystkim wysokie poziomy pyłu zawieszonego PM10 i PM2,5 oraz benzo(a)pirenu, oznaczonego w pyle PM10. Dominującym źródłem zanieczyszczeń są pozaprzemysłowe procesy spalania, tzw. niska emisja, pochodzące z kotłów grzewczych gospodarstw domowych. Antidotum na te problemy miał być utworzony w Narodowym Funduszu Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej Program priorytetowy „Czyste powietrze”. Ustalenia Najwyższej Izby Kontroli wskazują, że sposób jego wdrażania, obsługa i realizacja nie gwarantują jednak osiągnięcia zakładanych rezultatów do 2029 r., tj. planowanego terminu zakończenia programu.The air in Poland is one of the most polluted in the European Union. Its low quality is mostly due to the high levels of particulate matters PM10 and PM2,5 and of benzo(a)pyrene, marked PM10. The main source of pollutants are non-industrial combustion processes, so called low emissions, coming from households. The problem was supposed to be solved with the Priority Programme “Clean Air” developed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The findings of the audit conducted by NIK indicate that the implementation, management and realisation of the programme do not guarantee that the results foreseen will be met by 2029 though. Among the audited entities there were the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (activity of the Prime Minister Proxy for the Clean Air Programme), the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, eight regional funds for environmental protection and water management, and 24 municipal offices

Biblioteka Główna Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Krakowie w celu promocji instytucji rozszerza zakres działań między innymi poprzez organizację konkursów plastycznych dla dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym, wczesnoszkolnym i szkolnym. W artykule omówiono konkursy plastyczne, które były zorganizowane w bibliotece. Przedstawiono etapy realizacji konkursu oraz ich przebieg. Dodatkowo poruszono kwestie wpływu podejmowanych działań na wizerunek biblioteki
