The Global Food Security Act: America\u27s Strategic Approach to Combating World Hunger
The world’s farms currently produce enough calories to adequately feed everyone on the planet. From the 1960s through 2008, per capita food availability worldwide has risen from 2220 kilocalories per person per day to 2790. Specifically, developing countries have recorded a rise in kilocalories per person per day, from 1850 to 2640. Yet, despite overall availability, around 815 million people still suffer from hunger or some form of malnutrition. Approximately one in ten people are undernourished

Irrational constants in positronium decays
We establish irrational constants, that contribute to the positronium
lifetime at and order. In particular we show, that a
new type of constants appear, which are not related to Euler--Zagier sums or

Search for CP and CPT violation in positronium decay
Positronium, the electron-positron bound state, is described to a good
approximation by pure QED. The states of positronium have definite values of C
and P. Consequently, positronium is an attractive system for the investigation
of possible violations of the discrete symmetries in the leptonic sector. We
discuss signals for CP and CPT violation in the decay of spin-polarized
orthopositronium and show where such correlations might arise in the context of

Exploring the Perception and Identity of Place through Sound and Image
In this paper the concept of place is explored as the stimulus for the creation of original works combining electronic music and photography. Although the compositions of both authors take inspiration from different facets of place there is a similarity of theoretical approach regarding the identity of the individual and their relationship to geographical situations and place. Perspectives on Gerhard expands several papers given at the 2nd and 3rd International Roberto Gerhard Conferences in 2012 and 2013. The book focuses on two aspects of Gerhard. Firstly, the pre-1939 period in which he was a student of Schoenberg and then, on returning to Catalonia, began to establish a reputation as a composer. Secondly, and more generally on the composer's stylistic and aesthetic evolution. This latter focus includes both Gerhard's approach to serialism both harmonically and melodically as well as the pivotal role the USA was to play in his later life. The book concludes with two personal reminiscences given at the conferences by Ferran Gerhard and Mariona Agustà Badia
A search for massive neutral bosons in orthopositronium decay
We have searched for an exotic decay of orthopositronium into a single photon
and a short-lived neutral boson in the hitherto unexplored mass region above
900 , by noting that this decay is one of few remaining
candidates which could explain the discrepancy of the orthopositronium
decay-rate. A high-resolution measurement of the associated photon energy
spectrum was carried out with a germanium detector to search for a sharp peak
from this two-body decay. Our negative result provides the upper-limits
of\mbox{ } on the branching ratio of such a decay in the
mass region from 847 to 1013 , and excludes the
possibility of this decay mode explaining the discrepancy in the
