    Investigation on the Effect of Chemical and Biological Control of Bacterial Soft Root Disease of Potato in Storage.

    Potato soft rot, caused by Erwiniacarotovora subsp. carotovora, greatly affect potato tuber quality in storage of Egypt and indicated that it can affect all potato cultivars. Erwiniacarotovora subsp. carotovora was isolated from the infected potato tuber and was identified by pathological, morphological and biochemical studies.  One antimicrobialchemical compound chitosans (CS) with concentration (1, 3, 5 %) combine with three biocontrol agents (Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichodermavirdi) each. These treatments were screened out in vitro and in storage against the growth of Erwinia carotovora subsp carotovora. All bio-control agents combined with Cs reduced the bacterial soft rot disease to various degrees. The stronger antagonistic activity against Erwinia carotovora was found in treatment Cs 5% with biocontrolagaints (T. virdi, P. fluorescens and B. subtilis respectively). All treatments reduced the soft rot infection to 20-week storage with two types of potatoes (Spunta and Cara) varieties by (91, 86, 83.6 and 77.3% respectively in Spunta c.v.) and (88.6, 86.4 and 79.8% in Cara c.v.). The lowest antagonistic activity against Erwinia carotovora was found in treatment CS 1% with biocontrol agents (T. virdi, P. fluorescens and B. subtilis respectively) varieties by (64.2, 58.6 and 43.7% respectively) compared with the treatments of biocontrol agents individually.     Conjugated Polymer (MEH-PPV:MWCNTs) Organic Nanocomposite for Photodetector Application

    Fabrication of a photodetector consists of the conjugated polymer "MEH-PPV"- poly (2-methoxy-5-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenlenevinylene) and MEH-PPV:MWCNT nanocomposite thin film. The volume ratio investigated was 0.75:0.25. MEH-PPV was dissolved in chloroform solvent and doped with MWCNTs. The spin coating method was used to achieve a facile and low cost photodetector. The absorption spectrum decreases by adding the CNTs. The PL spectrum detected recombination curve results by doping the polymer with CNTs, and AFM measurement showed an increase of roughness average from (0.168 to 2.43nm) of "MEH-PPV" and "MEH-PPV:CNTs", respectively. The doping ratio 0.25, which has a higher photoresponsivity, was evaluated at 1.70 A/W and 2.14 A/W of the UV and Vis. wavelength range. Time-dependent photocurrent analysis showed that the higher sensitivity was 176.56 % at 350nm and 290.99% at 500 nm of the "MEH-PPV:MWCNTs" thin films, while I-V characteristics showed a rectifying behavior

    Combined pitavastatin and dacarbazine treatment activates apoptosis and autophagy resulting in synergistic cytotoxicity in melanoma cells

    Melanoma is an aggressive skin cancer and its incidence is increasing faster than any other type of cancer. Whilst dacarbazine (DTIC) is the standard chemotherapy for metastatic melanoma, it has limited success. Statins, including pitavastatin, have been demonstrated to have a range of anti-cancer effects in a number of human cancer cell lines. The present study therefore explored the anti-cancer activity of combined DTIC and pitavastatin in A375 and WM115 human melanoma cells. Cell survival assays demonstrated that combined DTIC and pitavastatin treatment resulted in synergistic cell death. Cell cycle analyses further revealed that this combined treatment resulted in a G1 cell cycle arrest, as well as a sub-G1 population, indicative of apoptosis. Activation of apoptosis was confirmed by Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide double-staining and an increase in the levels of active caspase 3 and cleaved poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that apoptosis occurs through the intrinsic pathway, evident from the release of cytochrome c. Finally, combined DTIC and pitavastatin treatment was demonstrated to also activate autophagy as part of a cell death mechanism.     Anticancer Activity of New Di-Nuclear Copper (I) Complex

    In-vitro biological activities of the free new H4L ( indole-7-thiocarbohydrazone) ligand and its Ni(II), Pd(II) , Pt(II), Cu(II), Ag(I), Zn(II) and Cd(II)  complexes are screened against two cancerous cell lines, that revealed significant activity only for [Cu2Cl2(H4L)2(PPh3)2]  after 72 h treatment by the highest tested concentrations. The Copper(I) complex was characterized by X-ray Crystallography and the NMR spectra, whereas it has been confirmed to have momentous cytotoxicity against ovarian, breast cancerous cell lines (Caov-3, MCF-7). The apoptosis-inducing properties of the Cu(I) complex have been investigated through fluorescence microscopy visualization, DNA fragmentation analysis and propidium iodide flow cytometry.     Extended of TEA: A 256 bits block cipher algorithm for image encryption

    This paper introduces an effective image encryption approach that merges a chaotic map and polynomial with a block cipher. According to this scheme, there are three levels of encryption. In the first level, pixel positions of the image are scuffled into blocks randomly based on a chaotic map. In the second level, the polynomials are constructed by taking N unused pixels from the permuted blocks as polynomial coefficients. Finally, the third level a proposed secret-key block cipher called extended of tiny encryption algorithm (ETEA) is used. The proposed ETEA algorithm increased the block size from 64-bit to 256-bit by using F-function in type three Feistel network design. The key schedule generation is very straightforward through admixture the entire major subjects in the identical manner for every round. The proposed ETEA algorithm is word-oriented, where wholly internal operations are executed on words of 32 bits. So, it is possible to efficiently implement the proposed algorithm on smart cards. The results of the experimental demonstration that the proposed encryption algorithm for all methods are efficient and have high security features through statistical analysis using histograms, correlation, entropy, randomness tests, and the avalanche effect

To facilitate species identification, we used 16S ribosomal DNA(rRNA) sequence data toidentify genus- and species-specific 16S rRNA signature sequences,its account a stable part of the geneticcode. Based on these sequences we designed simple, rapid, and accurate PCR assays that allow the differentiation of P. aeruginosa from Pseudomonas species and other pathogen genus ,also this test considered as the most specific than the other diagnostic tests like API (20) which give 70% while the 16SrRNA test give more than 90 %
