    A New Equipment Effectiveness And Sustainability Performance Model For Palm Oil Mill

    The worldwide demands for sustainable palm oil products are in the increasing trend due to rising awareness of the palm oil industry impact on environment.Hence,the urgency to develop a sustainability strategy to overcome these issues is imminent.The objectives of this research are to investigate the current practices and performance of manufacturing sustainability in the Malaysian Palm Oil Mill (POM),identify factors affecting equipment effectiveness in the Malaysian POM,develop a model for equipment effectiveness and sustainability performance, and validate the model using data from the Malaysian POM. The research opted for an exploratory study using the survey instrument on Malaysian POM against the 20 elements of sustainability programs and practices,18 elements of regulatory compliance,32 elements of factors affecting equipment effectiveness,and 36 elements of manufacturing sustainability opportunity from equipment effectiveness.Out of 250 questionnaires randomly sent to 426 registered POM in Malaysia,a total of 55 were completed and returned by the surveyed mills.After screening,51 of those completed with useful information were further analysed,representing 11.97% of the population with a response rate of 20.4%.The research developed a new model for measuring equipment effectiveness and sustainability performance.This model hybrid the concept of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE),equipment reliability and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).In appraising the criticality in terms of sustainability impact of equipment failure occurrence,the model ranks the sustainability performance of the failure mode by using the Sustainability Priority Number (SPN), formulated using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach.The performance level of the OEE,reliability and SPN resulting scores translated into a five-point rating system.The model has been tested on a POM as the validation approach to demonstrate the feasibility of the model for equipment effectiveness and sustainability performance analysis.The findings emphasis on the fluctuation in the OEE performance depending on the month,suggest that waiting time,breakdown,and preventive maintenance as the key factors affecting equipment effectiveness.Further,reliability performance of the model exhibits an increasing failure rate indicating that the probability of failure occurrence increases over time for the critical equipment (loading ramp,steriliser, thresher,and boiler).The model determines the performance level of 20 functional failure modes of the critical equipment and the results show that the highest SPN ranking for steriliser,signify as the most critical functional failure mode for sustainability impact in the POM.The model is able to analyse equipment effectiveness and sustainability performance in the POM and provide empirical evidence to support the decision making for POM sustainability.This research can be used as an advantage in POM as well as other organisation from different industries to recognise the opportunities of equipment effectiveness in the efforts to enhance the business profile and corporate reputation,and market growth without disregarding the environmental and social impact

This system is able to be upgraded to be amonitoring system for security purposes. The project adds the number of motion detection collection programs that available in the market. Motion detection helps a lot in daily activities that involve security and good monitoring system. Studies have shown that motion detection helps in improvement of the security system and especially in doing aresearch about motion. But it is not the main focus in this project because it focuses more on how motion detection works. Watch Eyes is developed using skin tones algqrithm which is use in the system to detect the skin tones that present in the captured image. The main focus of the system is to ensure that the motion can be detected only using the skin tones. Combination of several related algorithms helps in developing the skin tones algorithm. Many researches have been carried out to identify the needs ofthe system to make it works as expected. The development of this system dope in stages, determined by the planning processes which follow the Water-Spiral model. Early analysis of the existing motion detection system falls under the earlier stage which include information gathering. Through the development of such system, it is hoped that it will help to increase student interest in computer vision that involve multimedia development and as well as to individual who interest in doing motion detection research

Through the study, it shows that many abnormalities were found. As a result, most of the abnormalities at machine were reduced and had improved the machine efficiency

    Malaysian Education Development Plan (2013 - 2025) has outlined 11 shifts that focus on the development of the Malaysian education system. The 5th shift highlights the role of principals as instructional leaders who are responsible for bringing excellence to the organization through improving teachers' knowledge and skills within teaching and learning. Accordingly, this study aimed to identify the relationship of instructional leadership (IL) towards teacher development (TD) through instructional coaching (IC) among Malaysian school leaders. The study design is a survey method with a quantitative approach using questionnaire. Total of sample involved in this study are 1265 respondents consisting of principals and head teachers, Senior Curriculum Assistant, Head of Subject Field, Head of Subject Committee, and teachers. Samples were selected based on multi-stage cluster sampling method. Data were analysed using inferential statistics (Pearson correlation and multiple regressions). Pearson correlation test shows that the relationship between instructional leadership and instructional coaching towards teacher development is significant. Whereas multiple regression analysis shows that instructional leadership and instructional coaching were correlated and contributed significantly to teacher development

    The purposes of this paper are to review and explore the potential of overall equipment effectiveness (also known as OEE) measures on environmental sustainability in palm oil mill operation. Literature review on OEE and current sustainable palm oil mill research, and semi-structured interview on relevant persons on the business nature have been conducted to achieve the determined objectives. The result is presented in a conceptual model to show the potential relationship between the three stated keywords. The model shows that OEE measure initially has positive influenced on environmental sustainability development in palm oil mill especially for reduction of greenhouse gasses emissions, utilisation of raw material, pollution control of soil, air, and water, and utilisation of natural resources. The findings also can be used to understand the effect of OEE measures on the realization of sustainable environment in the palm oil mill

    This paper discusses the implementation of Autonomous Maintenance (AM) program for job base in order to sustain the machine efficiency in Technical University (TU). Grinding machine was selected for case study. In TU, all engineering students especially will use grinding machine for producing very fine finishes or making very light cuts, using an abrasive wheel as the cutting device. As compared with other machining processes, grinding is a costly operation that should be utilised under optimal conditions. The result shows that the AM program had improved responsibility and alertness of the machine users on the machine condition as the standard. In addition, it reduced the total of the problems occurred on the machine and indirectly reduced the cost of breakdown maintenance
