Information system is widely adopted in many fields including healthcare. Healthcare organizations now consider increased efficiency, improved patient care, quality of services, and safety. Hence Health Information System (HIS) is basically introduced to transform the traditional way of data collection and organization in hospitals, to a modern way of systematic collection, maintaining and dissemination of data. Its implementation is to support medical practitioners and administrative staff in securing patientsโ€™ health information in a digital-based record, to efficiently and effectively improve performance in the health system or any of its component parts. However, despite its numerous benefits, some of barriers still hinder its successful implementation and adoption, which needs to be addressed. This study discussed these barriers related to technology using the IS Success Model. This review paper becomes necessary in order to highlight the barriers that led to technical difficulties facing HIS implementation in hospitals, so as to suggest possible solutions that will improve services rendered in health industry based on finding

A novel conceptual framework of Health Information Systems (HIS) sustainability

Sustainable technology means technology is capable of being maintained over a long span of time; independent of shifts in both hardware and software. Effective implementation and use of Health Information Systems (HIS) for years to come are crucial as sustainable HIS. Numbers of studies have discussed various factors contributes towards barriers for successful implementation of HIS. However, very few studies discussed factors on HIS sustainability. Through critical analysis of existing literature on success, failure, and challenges of HIS adoption, this paper identifies four crucial factors that shape the sustainable HIS. The importance of strong leadership support, proper contingency planning, and practice, continuous vendor support, and protection of security and privacy issues are identified by classifying all the factors within these four constructs, and with it, we argue these factors crucial for sustainable HIS. This paper proposes a novel conceptual framework which incorporated all these constructs as HIS sustainability factors. This paper also described the theoretical basics behind the development of the model and methodology to be employed to validate the proposed model

The culture of knowledge creation and knowledge sharing play very important role in the successful implementation of Knowledge Management in any Public or Private Institution of Higher Learning. The purpose of this study is to see how the culture of Knowledge Creation (KC) and Knowledge Sharing (KS) is applied in Public or Private Universities in Malaysia. A survey was designed and conducted with students Academician in the universities in Malaysia. Survey questions designed to examine perceptions of all variables were identified. Data from 17 respondents were used to validate the hypotheses. The results of the study show that the individual culture and top managementโ€™s support are important which it will be influencing the knowledge sharing behavior in the institutions

The challenges of human factors for implementation of information systems in the healthcare

Healthcare Information Systems (HIS) play an important roles in helping to coordinate activities across units within hospitals through fast access to patients' electronic records. HIS is an initiative taken by Malaysian government to resolve several issues such as increasing number of patients who are in needs of treatment, increasing waiting time for receiving medication etc. HIS adoption is increasing globally, including Malaysia. Malaysia begin to adopt HIS in 1999 which covers both clinical and non-clinical information system. Since its introduction, hospitals are facing with various challenges to achieve objective of its adoption. Understanding factors that detain the success of HIS implementation is a central concern of Healthcare Informatics. Among others, human factors or HIS users (medical practitioners) is one of the issues that important to be considered as they play a significant role in influencing the HIS adoption in hospitals. Human factors are essential in identifying human constraint and needs when interacting with the system for improving work effectiveness and productivity. Any issue encounters by medical practitioners need to be identified earlier to avoid failure of use once the system is launched. Failure of interaction effectively between human and technology might lead to medical errors. Thus, the aim of this study is to provide a review of challenges associated with human factor through the adoption of information system in hospital and to suggest strategies to tackle or minimize issues associated with human factors. Based on the term โ€œHospital Information Systemโ€, โ€œElectronic Health Recordโ€, and โ€œhuman factorโ€, articles were retrieved from electronic journal databases using a systematic search techniques. Some inclusive and exclusive criteria such as year of publication, writing language etc. were applied. Based on study, there are constraints on human factors with the adoption of information system in hospital. This paper provides view on human-related issues that are important to be addressed in the implementation of information system

Mobile phone is changing the way the world communicates. In the early 1990s, only one per cent of the world's population owned a mobile phone but today almost all using mobile phone to make phone calls and sending text message. 4G is one of the fastest growing technologies currently available with higher data consumption and increased connectivity. Malaysia continues to grow in tandem, riding on the telecommunications service evolution over the last 10 years. This includes a firm grounding for high-speed connection in the last few years. In this paper, we will discuss on 4G provided by Malaysia service providers

Comparison of Business Model Canvas (BMC) among the three consulting companies

The Business Model Canvas (BMC) helps the companies in creating their business models based on nine building blocks. BMC is a tool that provides a clear view of what the company needs to achieve and focuses on the strategic elements that matter most and will have the greatest impact to the business. In this paper, we discuss on three consulting companies: ITECH Consulting, Kincardin Group, and Glen Fordโ€™s Project Management Consultant. These three companies are then compared among the nine building blocks in the BMC and we focused on key resources, value proposition, and customer segments in order to identify which BMC is the best among those three companies

The culture of knowledge creation and knowledge sharing play very important role in the successful implementation of Knowledge Management in any Public or Private Institution of Higher Learning. A literature review study is being conducted to explore the culture of Knowledge Creation (KC) and Knowledge Sharing (KS) among the Community of Practice (CoP) in Malaysian Public Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) and the possible framework that has been practice in the education field
