CP Nonconservation in e+e−→ttˉge^+e^-\to t\bar tg

CP violation effects in e+e−→ttˉge^+ e^- \to t\bar tg are examined. CP-odd, TnT_n-odd and TnT_n-even observables can both be used to extract information on the real and imaginary parts of Feynman amplitudes. Two Higgs doublet model with CP violating phase from neutral Higgs exchange is used to estimate possible effects.Comment: 9 pages, 4 Figures, Late

Bounds on charged higgs boson in the 2HDM type III from Tevatron

We consider the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) of type III which leads to Flavour Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) at tree level. In the framework of this model we can use an appropriate form of the Yukawa Lagrangian that makes the type II model limit of the general type III couplings apparent. This way is useful in order to compare with the experimental data which is model dependent. The analytical expressions of the partial width Γ(t→H+b)\Gamma (t \to H^+ b) are derived and we compare with the data available at this energy range. We examine the limits on the new parameters λij\lambda_{ij} from the validness of perturbation theory.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures, Universidad Nacional de Colombia. typos correcte

Determining the top-antitop and ZZZZ Couplings of a Neutral Higgs Boson of Arbitrary CP Nature at the NLC

    Get PDF
The optimal procedure for extracting the coefficients of different components of a cross section which takes the form of unknown coefficients times functions of known kinematical form is developed. When applied to \epem\to t\anti t+Higgs production at \rts=1\tev and integrated luminosity of 200\fbi, we find that the t\anti t\toHiggs CP-even and CP-odd couplings and, to a lesser extent, the ZZ→ZZ\toHiggs (CP-even) coupling can be extracted with reasonable errors, assuming the Higgs sector parameter choices yield a significant production rate. Indeed, the composition of a mixed-CP Higgs eigenstate can be determined with sufficient accuracy that a SM-like CP-even Higgs boson can be distinguished from a purely CP-odd Higgs boson at a high level of statistical significance, and vice versa.Comment: 8 pages, full postscript file also available via anonymous ftp at ftp://ucdhep.ucdavis.edu/gunion/eetottbh.p

    CP Nonconservation in ppˉ→tbˉXp\bar p\to t\bar b X at the Tevatron

The reaction ppˉ→tbˉXp\bar p\to t\bar bX is found to be rather rich in exhibiting several different types of CP asymmetries. The spin of the top quark plays an important role. Asymmetries are related to form factors arising from radiative corrections of the tbWtbW production vertex due to non-standard physics. As illustrations, effects are studied in two Higgs Doublet Models and in Supersymmetric Models; asymmetries up to a few percent may be possible.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures. This issue has been inspired by a path-breaking conference held by the Canadian Society for Ecologi-cal Economics (CANSEE), which took place this past May 2019 in Waterloo, Ontario. Entitled Engaging Economies of Change, the conference aimed to ex-pand existing research networks in the economy-environment nexus by building connections beyond the academy in order to meaningfully engage with the practicalities of building and implementing change. This issue captures the rich content shared during the event, as well as descriptions of the pro-cesses and efforts made to create a welcoming and respectful space where academics and community activists could build alliances and discuss common challenges. The conference organizers – all graduate students and activists themselves -- called this ‘building a brave space’.This research was supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canad

Large Tree Level CP Violation in e+e−→ttˉH0e^+e^-\to t\bar{t}H^0 in The Two Higgs Doublet Model

We find a large CP violation effect within the Two-Higgs-Doublet-Model for the reaction e+e−→ttˉH0e^+e^-\to t\bar{t}H^0 at future linear colliders. The CP-asymmetry arises already at the tree level as a result of interference between diagrams with H0H^0 emission from tt (and tˉ\bar{t}) and its emission from a Z0Z^0 and can be about 10--20\%. In the best case one needs a few hundred ttˉH0t\bar{t}H^0 events to observe CP violation at the 3σ\sigma level.Comment: UU encoded tar compressed tex file with postscript figure

Transverse Tau Polarization in Decays of the Top and Bottom Quarks in the Weinberg Model of CP Non-conservation

We show that the transverse polarization asymmetry of the τ\tau-lepton in the decay t→bÏ„Îœt\rightarrow b \tau \nu is extremely sensitive to CP violating phases arising from the charged Higgs exchange in the Weinberg model of CP non-conservation. Qualitatively, the polarization asymmetries are enhanced over rate or energy asymmetries by a factor of ≈mtmτ≈O(100)\approx {m_t\over m_\tau}\approx O(100). Thus for optimal values of the parameters the method requires ≈104\approx 10^4 top pairs to be observable rather than 10710^7 needed for rate or energy asymmetries. We also examine τ\tau polarization in b decays via b→cΜτb \rightarrow c \nu \tau and find that it can also be very effective in constraining the CP violation parameters of the extended Higgs sector.Comment: 11,1 figure, SLAC-PUB-608

Polarized Single Top Production at Leptonic Colliders from Broken R Parity Interactions Incorporating CP Violation

    Get PDF
The contribution from the R parity violating interactions in the associated production of a top quark with a charm antiquark is examined for high energy leptonic colliders. We concentrate on the reactions associated with the semileptonic top decay. A set of characteristic dynamical distributions for the signal events is evaluated and the results contrasted against those from the standard model W-boson pair production background. Next, we turn to a study of a CP-odd observable, associated with the top spin, which leads to an asymmetry in the energy distribution of the emitted charged leptons for the pair of CP-conjugate final states, blˉΜcˉb \bar l \nu \bar c and bˉlΜˉc \bar b l \bar \nu c . A non vanishing asymmetry arises from a CP-odd phase, embedded in the R parity violating coupling constants, through interference terms between the R parity violating amplitudes at both the tree and loop levels.Comment: revtex file. 17 pages. 7 postscript figures. 1 table. Search for anomalous top-gluon couplings at LHC revisited

Through top-quark pair productions at LHC, we study possible effects of nonstandard top-gluon couplings yielded by SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1) invariant dimension-6 effective operators. We calculate the total cross section and also some distributions for p p -> t tbar X as functions of two anomalous-coupling parameters, i.e., the chromoelectric and chromomagnetic moments of the top, which are constrained by the total cross section sigma(p pbar -> t tbar X) measured at Tevatron. We find that LHC might give us some chances to observe sizable effects induced by those new couplings.Comment: One comment and related two refs. added. Final version (to appear in Eur.Phys.J. C

Flavor changing single top quark production channels at e^+e^- colliders in the effective Lagrangian description

    Get PDF
We perform a global analysis of the sensitivity of LEP2 and e^+e^- colliders with a c.m. energy in the range 500 - 2000 GeV to new flavor-changing single top quark production in the effective Lagrangian approach. The processes considered are sensitive to new flavor-changing effective vertices such as Ztc, htc, four-Fermi tcee contact terms as well as a right-handed Wtb coupling. We show that e^+ e^- colliders are most sensitive to the physics responsible for the contact tcee vertices. For example, it is found that the recent data from the 189 GeV LEP2 run can be used to rule out any new flavor physics that can generate these four-Fermi operators up to energy scales of \Lambda > 0.7 - 1.4 TeV, depending on the type of the four-Fermi interaction. We also show that a corresponding limit of \Lambda > 1.3 - 2.5 and \Lambda > 17 - 27 TeV can be reached at the future 200 GeV LEP2 run and a 1000 GeV e^+e^- collider, respectively. We note that these limits are much stronger than the typical limits which can be placed on flavor diagonal four-Fermi couplings. Similar results hold for \mu^+\mu^- colliders and for tu(bar) associated production. Finally we briefly comment on the necessity of measuring all flavor-changing effective vertices as they can be produced by different types of heavy physics.Comment: 34 pages, plain latex, 7 figures embadded in the text using epsfig.
