Using Multiple Regression Analysis in Modelling the Role of Hospitality Industry in Cross River State
The overwhelming and rapid growth of hospitality (hotel) industry is of greatconcern especially its role in the economy of Cross River State. This paperseeks to evaluate the contribution of hotel industry in each of the socioeconomic variables such as employment, revenue generation, urbandevelopment, tourism development and local economy development usingmultiple regression analysis. The result shows that 0.2, indicating 21.50% of the total variations in hospitality (hotel) industry have influenced socioeconomic development of Cross River State. The overall fit of the regression was 6.65 statistically significant at 1% confident coefficient level while 0.275 showed auto correction insignificant among the errors. However, findings have shown that even though much has not been felt from the hospitality (hotel) industry. The analysis shows that the industry has much to offer socioeconomically to the growth of Cross River State if properly managed
Impact of Conservation Activities of Non-Governmental Organizations on Sustainable Tourism and Economic Growth in Cross River State, Nigeria
The quest for how best to preserve the natural resources of the planet Earth and how best they can be used environmentally, economically and socially for the benefit of man has become the centre of discussions on sustainable development world-wide. One concept which seems to achieve this is conservation for development, which if fully applied, can engender sustainable development. Thus, different initiatives have been evolved by concerned agencies on how environmental resources can be preserved for continuous use and benefit - in perpetuity. Such a sustainable use of resources can also boost the development of tourism and economic growth through provision of necessary ingredients for a viable and sustainable tourism industry. Here, we examine the efforts of some environment-related non-governmental organizations in conservation of flora and fauna resources and the impact of conservation efforts in tourism development and economic growth of Cross River State, Nigeria.Keywords: Non-governmental organizations, conservation activity, fauna and flora, sustainable tourism, economic growth
