    Geometric measure of entanglement for pure multipartite states

    We provide methods for computing the geometric measure of entanglement for two families of pure states with both experimental and theoretical interests: symmetric multiqubit states with non-negative amplitudes in the Dicke basis and symmetric three-qubit states. In addition, we study the geometric measure of pure three-qubit states systematically in virtue of a canonical form of their two-qubit reduced states, and derive analytical formulae for a three-parameter family of three-qubit states. Based on this result, we further show that the W state is the maximally entangled three-qubit state with respect to the geometric measure.Comment: A minor error on the explanation of three-qubit GHZ state has been corrected in the fourth paragraph of page 1.     Describing coevolution of business and IS alignment via agent-based modeling

    The coevolution of business and IS alignment is a growing concern for researchers and practitioners alike. Extant literature on describing and modeling the coevolution is still in infancy, which makes it hard to capture the complexity and to offer reasonable decisions in the evolution of organizations. This paper focuses on the actors’ behaviors, and explores their emergent effects on the holistic alignment. We build an agent-based model to describe the complex alignment landscape and to improve the coevolution governance. The model embraces the emergent behaviors shaped by the interactions of business and IS agents, and guides the coevolution of alignment driven by the external changes. The development of this model forms a necessary step towards suggesting guidance how to analyze and implement coevolution in companies. The paper also shows the capability of an agent-based model to capture some of the emergent behaviors that emerge from bottom-level behaviors

    Synthesis and Antiproliferative Activity of Some Steroidal Lactams

    Using cholesterol as starting material, a series of 6-substituted-3-aza-A-homo-3-oxycholestanes and 6-substituted-4-aza-A-homo-3-oxycholestanes were synthesized by the oxidation, reduction, oximation, Beckman rearrangement and condensation reaction. These synthesized compounds displayed a distinct cytotoxicity against MGC 7901, HeLa and SMMC 7404 cancer cells. Our results revealed that the structures of functional groups at position-6 on the steroidal ring are crucial for the IC50 value of antiproliferative activities of these compounds and the cytotoxic activity against MGC 7901 and SMMC 7404 cells was not significantly different between 4-N-lactams and 3-N-lactams when its 6-substituted group was a carbonyl or a hydroximino, but all 3-N-lactams showed a higher cytotoxicity against HeLa cells than 4-N-lactams. In particular, compounds 6, 8, 9 (IC506: 6.5 μmol/L; 8: 7.7 μmol/L; 9: 5.6 μmol/L) were even more cytotoxic than cisplatin to HeLa cells (positive contrast, 10.1 μmol/L). The information obtained from the studies may be useful for the design of novel chemotherapeutic drugs

    WinDB: HMD-free and Distortion-free Panoptic Video Fixation Learning

    To date, the widely-adopted way to perform fixation collection in panoptic video is based on a head-mounted display (HMD), where participants' fixations are collected while wearing an HMD to explore the given panoptic scene freely. However, this widely-used data collection method is insufficient for training deep models to accurately predict which regions in a given panoptic are most important when it contains intermittent salient events. The main reason is that there always exist "blind zooms" when using HMD to collect fixations since the participants cannot keep spinning their heads to explore the entire panoptic scene all the time. Consequently, the collected fixations tend to be trapped in some local views, leaving the remaining areas to be the "blind zooms". Therefore, fixation data collected using HMD-based methods that accumulate local views cannot accurately represent the overall global importance of complex panoramic scenes. This paper introduces the auxiliary Window with a Dynamic Blurring (WinDB) fixation collection approach for panoptic video, which doesn't need HMD and is blind-zoom-free. Thus, the collected fixations can well reflect the regional-wise importance degree. Using our WinDB approach, we have released a new PanopticVideo-300 dataset, containing 300 panoptic clips covering over 225 categories. Besides, we have presented a simple baseline design to take full advantage of PanopticVideo-300 to handle the blind-zoom-free attribute-induced fixation shifting problem
