Patterns of supersymmetry breaking in moduli-mixing racetrack model

We show some structures of moduli stabilization and supersymmetry breaking caused by gaugino condensations with the gauge couplings depending on two moduli which often appear in the four-dimensional effective theories of superstring compactifications.Comment: 1+4 pages, 2 figures; Talk given at the 14th International Conference on Supersymmetry and the Unification of Fundamental Interactions (SUSY06), UC Irvine, California, USA, 12-17 June 2006 and the International Workshop on Supersymmetry, Electroweak Symmetry Breaking and Particle Cosmology (Summer Institute 2006), APCTP, Pohang, Korea, 21-30 August 200

    Gauged U(1)RU(1)_R supergravity on orbifold

We discuss a gauged U(1)RU(1)_R supergravity on five-dimensional orbifold (S1/Z2S^1/Z_2) in which a Z2Z_2-even U(1) gauge field takes part in the U(1)RU(1)_R gauging, and show the structure of Fayet-Iliopoulos (FI) terms allowed in such model. Some physical consequences of the FI terms are examined.Comment: 4 pages, 8 figures, talk presented at the 11th International Symposium on Particles, Strings and Cosmology (PASCOS'05), May 30 - June 4, 2005, Gyeongju, Kore

Dynamical Radion Superfield in Five-dimensional Action

We clarify the radion superfield dependence of 5D N=1 superspace action. The radion is treated as a dynamical field and appears in the action with the correct mode function. Our derivation is systematic and based on the superconformal formulation of 5D supergravity. We can read off the couplings of the dynamical radion superfield to the matter superfields from our result. The correct radion mass can be obtained by calculating the radion potential from our superspace action.Comment: 5 pages, talks given by Y.Sakamura at PASCOS'05 (Geongju, Korea, May 30-June 4, 2005) and at SUSY'05 (Durham, U.K., July 18-23, 2005

Scherk-Schwarz twist in 5D conformal SUGRA

We reinterpret the Scherk-Schwarz (SS) boundary condition for SU(2)_R in a compactified five-dimensional (5D) Poincare supergravity in terms of the twisted SU(2)_U gauge fixing in 5D conformal supergravity. In such translation, only the compensator hypermultiplet is relevant to the SS twist, and various properties of the SS mechanism can be easily understood. Especially we show the equivalence between the SS twist and boundary constant superpotentials at the full supergravity level.Comment: 4 pages, no figure, talks given at SUSY 2006 (UC Irvine) and Summer Institute 2006 (POSTECH), to appear in Proceedings of SUSY06, the 14th International Conference on Supersymmetry and the Unification of Fundamental Interactions, UC Irvine, California, 12-17 June 200

Superfield description of (4+2n)-dimensional SYM theories and their mixtures on magnetized tori

    Get PDF
We provide a systematic way of dimensional reduction for (4+2n)(4+2n)-dimensional U(N)U(N) supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theories (n=0,1,2,3n=0,1,2,3) and their mixtures compactified on two-dimensional tori with background magnetic fluxes, which preserve a partial N=1{\mathcal N}=1 supersymmetry out of full N=2,3{\mathcal N}=2,3 or 44 in the original SYM theories. It is formulated in an N=1\mathcal N=1 superspace respecting the unbroken supersymmetry, and the four-dimensional effective action is written in terms of superfields representing N=1\mathcal N=1 vector and chiral multiplets, those arise from the higher-dimensional SYM theories. We also identify the dilaton and geometric moduli dependence of matter K\"ahler metrics and superpotential couplings as well as of gauge kinetic functions in the effective action. The results would be useful for various phenomenological/cosmological model buildings with SYM theories or D-branes wrapping magnetized tori, especially, with mixture configurations of them with different dimensionalities from each other.Comment: 37page
