Many Body Correlation Corrections to Superconducting Pairing in Two Dimensions.
We demonstrate that in the strong coupling limit (the superconducting gap
is as large as the chemical potential ), which is relevant to the
high- superconductivity, the correlation corrections to the gap and
critical temperature are about 10\% of the corresponding mean field
approximation values. For the weak coupling () the correlation
corrections are very large: of the order of 100\% of the corresponding mean
field values.Comment: LaTeX 12 page
Collective dynamics of internal states in a Bose gas
Theory for the Rabi and internal Josephson effects in an interacting Bose gas
in the cold collision regime is presented. By using microscopic transport
equation for the density matrix the problem is mapped onto a problem of
precession of two coupled classical spins. In the absence of an external
excitation field our results agree with the theory for the density induced
frequency shifts in atomic clocks. In the presence of the external field, the
internal Josephson effect takes place in a condensed Bose gas as well as in a
non-condensed gas. The crossover from Rabi oscillations to the Josephson
oscillations as a function of interaction strength is studied in detail.Comment: 18 pages, 2 figure
Laser-induced collective excitations in a two-component Fermi gas
We consider the linear density response of a two-component (superfluid) Fermi
gas of atoms when the perturbation is caused by laser light. We show that
various types of laser excitation schemes can be transformed into linear
density perturbations, however, a Bragg spectroscopy scheme is needed for
transferring energy and momentum into a collective mode. This makes other types
of laser probing schemes insensitive for collective excitations and therefore
well suited for the detection of the superfluid order parameter. We show that
for the special case when laser light is coupled between the two components of
the Fermi gas, density response is always absent in a homogeneous system.Comment: 6 pages, no figure
Exact Master Equation and Non-Markovian Decoherence for Quantum Dot Quantum Computing
In this article, we report the recent progress on decoherence dynamics of
electrons in quantum dot quantum computing systems using the exact master
equation we derived recently based on the Feynman-Vernon influence functional
approach. The exact master equation is valid for general nanostructure systems
coupled to multi-reservoirs with arbitrary spectral densities, temperatures and
biases. We take the double quantum dot charge qubit system as a specific
example, and discuss in details the decoherence dynamics of the charge qubit
under coherence controls. The decoherence dynamics risen from the entanglement
between the system and the environment is mainly non-Markovian. We further
discuss the decoherence of the double-dot charge qubit induced by quantum point
contact (QPC) measurement where the master equation is re-derived using the
Keldysh non-equilibrium Green function technique due to the non-linear coupling
between the charge qubit and the QPC. The non-Markovian decoherence dynamics in
the measurement processes is extensively discussed as well.Comment: 15 pages, Invited article for the special issue "Quantum Decoherence

Manifestation of triplet superconductivity in superconductor-ferromagnet structures
We study proximity effects in a multilayered superconductor/ferromagnet (S/F)
structure with arbitrary relative directions of the magnetization . If
the magnetizations of different layers are collinear the superconducting
condensate function induced in the F layers has only a singlet component and a
triplet one with a zero projection of the total magnetic moment of the Cooper
pairs on the direction. In this case the condensate penetrates the F
layers over a short length determined by the exchange energy . If
the magnetizations are not collinear the triplet component has, in
addition to the zero projection, the projections . The latter component
is even in the momentum, odd in the Matsubara frequency and penetrates the F
layers over a long distance that increases with decreasing temperature and does
not depend on (spin-orbit interaction limits this length). If the thickness
of the F layers is much larger than , the Josephson coupling between
neighboring S layers is provided only by the triplet component, so that a new
type of superconductivity arises in the transverse direction of the structure.
The Josephson critical current is positive (negative) for the case of a
positive (negative) chirality of the vector . We demonstrate that this
type of the triplet condensate can be detected also by measuring the density of
states in F/S/F structures.Comment: 14 pages; 9 figures. Final version, to be published in Phys. Rev.
