An Unconventional Turn: a Linguosynergetic and Diachronic Study of Evolving English Business Discourse

This paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the transformational changes observed in English business discourse over time. Employing cutting-edge methodologies such as functional linguistics, linguosynergetics, and diachronic analysis, the authors delve into the evolutionary dynamics of business communication, examining the extralinguistic factors that drive the inner discursive mechanisms of self-regulation and modification of the functional field. By highlighting these factors, the study sheds light on the complex interplay between language, society, and cognition in shaping business communication. Drawing on a rich corpus of oral and written English business discourse spanning from the late 19th century to the present day, the research reveals that the rise of new tendencies in social and political life, coupled with the historical development of British and American societies, have sparked changes in the cognitive models of structuring speech behavior in business verbal interaction. Consequently, new trends have emerged, including simplification, deregulation, deviation from communicative norms of standardized Business English, and popularization of unconventional, non-standard business rhetoric

In the present article, we studied a correlation between an increased resistance of winter wheat seedlings of different varieties to powdery mildew and high levels of constitutive expression of genes encoding one of two pathogenesisrelated proteins: thaumatin-like protein (Tlp) or oxalate oxidase (OxOxid). Highly resistant varieties have shown either high Tlp expression and low OxOxid expression or high OxOxid expression and low Tlp expression. We propose to use a combination of both Tlp and OxOxid gene expression levels as a marker for resistance of winter wheat breeding material to powdery mildew.

    The Drosophila melanogaster host model

The deleterious and sometimes fatal outcomes of bacterial infectious diseases are the net result of the interactions between the pathogen and the host, and the genetically tractable fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, has emerged as a valuable tool for modeling the pathogen–host interactions of a wide variety of bacteria. These studies have revealed that there is a remarkable conservation of bacterial pathogenesis and host defence mechanisms between higher host organisms and Drosophila. This review presents an in-depth discussion of the Drosophila immune response, the Drosophila killing model, and the use of the model to examine bacterial–host interactions. The recent introduction of the Drosophila model into the oral microbiology field is discussed, specifically the use of the model to examine Porphyromonas gingivalis–host interactions, and finally the potential uses of this powerful model system to further elucidate oral bacterial-host interactions are addressed

THE TACTIC OF ASSESSMENT IN ECONOMIC DISCOURSE (THE CONCEPT OF SINGLE MARKET)

The aim of the article is to describe the trends ongoing in modern economic discourse. Economic discourse is considered to be a part of business discourse texts united by the topic of commerce and economic relations. The author looks into speech influence means used by the participants of online communication in social media posts. The work is carried out in the framework of functional pragmatic paradigm. Studying the correlation between the speech forms and their functions, this approach allows to identify the main speech strategies and tactics used by specialists in economics and ordinary people discussing economic issues. The tactic of assessment is the object of the current study. The excerpts from social media involving debate on single market issue were chosen by method of continuous sampling. They included the posts from accounts of European Union Commission, EU Finance, Confederation of British Industry, BBC Politics et al. The author singles out speech means characterizing the phenomenon from a positive and negative perspective. They are treated as a reflection of collective consciousness of Europeans and demonstrate an attitude of doubt and skepticism towards the single market. To conclude, online communication in the field of economics and business proves to be a valuable object for linguistic research. New mass media play an important role in formation of discourse field and a powerful tool for expressing public opinion

Cooperative Communicative Strategies and Tactics as Means of English Business Discourse Harmonization

    No full text
The article investigates the cooperative communicative strategies and tactics of English business discourse. There is a necessity of harmonization of business discourse as a sphere of positional and interest collision. Harmonization is a process of maintaining cooperative communication leading to mutually beneficial results. The pragmatic properties of cooperative communicative strategies enable the speakers not only to achieve the set goal but also to sustain positive relationship with the partner

3D bioactive coatings with a new type of porous ridge/cavity structure

In this study, biocompatibility of plasma-sprayed 3D CP Ti-coated wire implants has been evaluated. Plasma- sprayed 3D CP Ti coatings have a porous structure consisting of ridges and cavities whose height is equal to that of the thickness of the coating. The porosity of plasma-sprayed 3D CP Ti coatings was found to be higher in cavities and it made up 46%. To study the clinical success of these implants, post-mortem computed tomography (CT) of distal femurs of animals (mainly dogs) was carried out. In vivo studies failed to demonstrate an increase in the amount of new bone tissue around uncoated implants. The amount of new bone tissue around implants with additional ceramic coatings made up 60% after 8 weeks. The amount of new bone tissue around 3D CP Ti-coated implants was only 5% after 8 weeks; however, after 16 weeks, an intensive growth of bone tissue around implants was observed. The amount of new bone tissue around implants with an additional ceramic coating was insufficient after 16 weeks. Forty-eight weeks after implant placement, the distribution of bone tissue in 3D CP Ti, 3D CP Ti-HA- and 3D CP Ti-HA-CaP-coated implants was 74.5%, 89.2% and 92.5%, respectively. The amount of bone tissue around uncoated implants did not exceed 10%. 3D CP Ti-HA coatings demonstrated better osseointegration compared with 3D CP Ti coatings and were found to have higher shear strength (9.8 ± 1.54 MPa) at early stages of osseointegration
