An experiment was conducted on Nadooshan goats of Iran, during the breeding season, to evaluate the effectiveness of flushing and equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) treatment on reproductive traits.Ninety-two intact does with an average live weight of 25.11 ± 3.933 kg were randomly divided into four equal experimental groups. Controlled internal drug release device (CIDR) were inserted for 18 days inall groups. Experimental groups consist of: 1- Control (C); 2- eCG (600 IU; E); 3- eCG (600 IU) + Flushing (E+F); and 4- Flushing (F). Does in two last groups (E and E+F) were injected intramuscularly, at the timeof CIDR withdrawal, with 600 IU of eCG. The first group (C) received no treatment and served as a control. All animals were submitted to pasture and mineral licks and groups E+F and F additionally received flushing ration. Pregnancy rate in group F was more than the control group (p < 0.05). Twinning rates and kid crops in groups E+F and F were significantly higher than control group (p < 0.05). Time of onset of estrus decreased in groups with eCG administration (E and E+F). Therefore, it is concluded that the flushing especially coupled with the eCG treatment can improve reproductive performance in Nadooshan goats treated with CIDR during the breeding season

Association between GH encoding gene polymorphism and semen characteristics in Iranian Holstein bulls

The objective of this present study was to investigate relationships between the growth hormone gene restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and bull sperm characteristics. A total of 89 bullsfrom two semen evaluation stations were genotyped for the bovine growth hormone (bGH)-AluI polymorphism by polymerase chain reaction and followed by 4% metaphor agaros gel electrophoresis. The overall allele frequencies for two L and V alleles were 0.50, respectively. The relationship between the bGH-AluI polymorphism and semen characteristics was evaluated according 1500 ejaculated records. Five sperm characteristics were analyzed. Sperm characteristics showed significant variabilityin relation to bGH genotypes. LL bulls had a lower ejaculated volume and higher percentage of live sperm, and VV bulls had higher fresh sperm concentration and minimum effect after cryopreservation. This polymorphism could be further used for semen evaluation process in artificial insemination program in Iranian Holstein bulls.Key word: Semen characteristics, growth hormone (GH) polymorphism, Holstein bulls

Abstract The Iranian Light Source Facility (ILSF) project is a first large scale accelerator facility which is currently under planning in Iran. On the basis of the present design, circumference of the 3 GeV storage ring is 297.6 m. Beam current and natural beam emittance are 400 mA and 3.278 nm.rad respectively. The facility will be built on a land of 50 hectares area in the city of Qazvin, located 150 km West of Tehran. The city is surrounded by many universities, research centers and industrial companies. The design and construction of prototype items such as radio frequency solid state amplifier, dipole magnets, highly stable magnet power supplies and girders have already begun. Site selection studies, including geotechnical and seismological measurements are being performed. Conceptual Design Report, CDR, as the first milestone of the project was published in October 2012

Design and simulation of an accelerating and focusing system

Electrostatic focusing lenses have a vast field of applications in electrostatic accelerators and particularly in electron guns. In this paper, we first express a parametric mathematical analysis of an electrostatic accelerator and focusing system for an electron beam. Next, we At design a system of electron emission slit, accelerating electrodes and focusing lens for an electron beam emitted from a cathode with 4 mm radius and 2 mA current, in a distance less than 10 cm and up to the energy of 30 keV with the beam divergence less than 5°. This is achieved by solving the yielded equations in mathematical analysis using MATLAB. At the end, we simulate the behavior of above electron beam in the designed accelerating and focusing system using CST EM Studio. The results of simulation are in high agreement with required specifications of the electron beam, showing the accuracy of the used method in analysis and design of the accelerating and focusing system

In this paper, we introduce RF electron gun of Iranian Light Source Facility (ILSF) pre-injection system. Design, fabrication and low-power microwave tests results of the prototype RF electron gun have been described in detail. This paper also explains the tuning procedure of the prototype RF electron gun to the desired resonant frequency. The outcomes of this project brighten the path to the fabrication of the RF electron gun by the local industries &nbsp

In vitro organic matter digestibility and gas production of fish-meal coated with fat

In this study, an in vitro rumen gas production technique was utilized to evaluate fish-meal coated with different types and levels of fats for total gas production, Metabolizable energy (ME) and organic matter digestibility (OMD) contents. Approximately 200 mg of sample was weighed and inserted in glass syringes, then mixed with the inoculum and artificial saliva, incubated at 39 °C in a ventilated oven and gas production (GP) was recorded after zero to 96 h of incubation. There were differences among different fat coated fish-meals and uncoated fish-meal (FM) in total GP at 12, 24, and 48 h of incubation, and the treatments differed (P<0.01) in rate of, and potential, gas production. The result of the present study showed that experimental fats which mixed by fish-meal, reduced in vitro digestibility of organic matter and GP during the time of incubation. In compare to hydrogenated palm oil (HP), coating fish-meal with hydrogenated tallow (HT) resulted in significant reduced GP (P<0.01). Furthermore the values of b and a+b reduced significantly since fish-meal coated with both types of fat in comparison to uncoated fish-meal (P<0.01). It seems that one of the possible strategies to reduce total GP from dairy cows is coating some portions of dietary concentrate with supplemental fats in the form of hydrogenated fats like HT or HP.Keywords: fish-meal; gas production; hydrogenated tallow; hydrogenated palm oil, fat coating
