    Hadron properties from QCD bound-state equations: A status report

    Employing an approach based on the Green functions of Landau-gauge QCD, some selected results from a calculation of meson and baryon properties are presented.     Covariant solution of the three-quark problem in quantum field theory: the nucleon

    We provide details on a recent solution of the nucleon's covariant Faddeev equation in an explicit three-quark approach. The full Poincare-covariant structure of the three-quark amplitude is implemented through an orthogonal basis obtained from a partial-wave decomposition. We employ a rainbow-ladder gluon exchange kernel which allows for a comparison with meson Bethe-Salpeter and baryon quark-diquark studies. We describe the construction of the three-quark amplitude in full detail and compare it to a notation widespread in recent publications.     Coulomb corrections and multiple e+e- pair production in ultra-relativistic nuclear collisions

    We consider the problem of Coulomb corrections to the inclusive cross section. We show that these corrections in the limiting case of small charge number of one of the nuclei coincide with those to the exclusive cross section. Within our approach we also obtain the Coulomb corrections for the case of large charge numbers of both nuclei.Comment: 7 pages, REVTeX

    This paper describes recent results obtained with the Magnescope, which has been used on location in industrial environments and has successfully detected impending fatigue failure, creep damage, applied stress, and microstructural differences. It is concluded that the device provides a useful nondestructive method for evaluating the mechanical properties of materials through the measurement of their structure sensitive magnetic properties

    Single-shot autocorrelator for KrF subpicosecond pulses based on two-photon fluorescence of cadmium vapor at X = 508 nm

    By excitation of cadmium vapor with a high-peak-power KrF excimer laser pulse, fluorescence of an atomic transition at X = 508 nm is induced by a two-photon ionization process followed by fast recombination. The nonlinear response of the medium is used to develop a simple single-shot autocorrelator for subpicosecond KrF excimer laser pulses operating down to intensities of less than 109W/cm.2 We have measured 360-fs (FWHM) pulses at X = 248 nm with a time resolution of 15 fs

    Process 3 -> 3 and crossing symmetry violation

    Using the Sudakov technique we sum the perturbation series for the process 333\to 3 and obtain the compact analytical expression for the amplitude of this process, which takes into account all possible Coulomb interactions between colliding particles. Compare it with the amplitude of the lepton pair production in heavy ion collision i.e. in the process 24 2\to 4, we show that crossing symmetry between this processes holds only if one neglects the interaction of produced pair with ions (i.e. in the approximation Z1,2α1Z_{1,2}\alpha \ll 1).Comment: LaTeX2e, 10 pages, 5 eps figure
