Propagation of mesons in asymmetric nuclear matter in a density dependent coupling model
We study the propagation of the light mesons sigma, omega, rho, and a0(980)
in dense hadronic matter in an extended derivative scalar coupling model.
Within the scheme proposed it is possible to unambiguously define effective
density-dependent couplings at the Lagrangian level. We first apply the model
to study asymmetric nuclear matter with fixed isospin asymmetry, and then we
pay particular attention to hypermatter in beta-equilibrium. The equation of
state and the potential contribution to the symmetry coefficient arising from
the mean field approximation are investigated.Comment: 17 pages, 15 PostScript figure
A supersymmetric exotic field theory in (1+1) dimensions. One loop soliton quantum mass corrections
We consider one loop quantum corrections to soliton mass for the
supersymmetric extension of the (1+1)-dimensional scalar field theory with the
potential . First, we compute
the one loop quantum soliton mass correction of the bosonic sector. To do that,
we regularize implicitly such quantity by subtracting and adding its
corresponding tadpole graph contribution, and use the renormalization
prescription that the added term vanishes with the corresponding counterterms.
As a result we get a finite unambiguous formula for the soliton quantum mass
corrections up to one loop order. Afterwards, the computation for the
supersymmetric case is extended straightforwardly and we obtain for the one
loop quantum correction of the SUSY kink mass the expected value previously
derived for the SUSY sine-Gordon and models. However, we also have
found that for a particular value of the parameters, contrary to what was
expected, the introduction of supersymmetry in this model worsens ultraviolet
divergences rather than improving them.Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures; Major modifications included to match version

Grassmanian and Bosonic Thirring Models with Jump Defects
In this paper we discuss the Lax formulation of the Grassmanian and Bosonic
Thirring models in the presence of jump defects. For the Grassmanian case, the
defect is described by B\"acklund transformation which is responsible for
preserving the integrability of the model.
We then propose an extension of the B\"acklund transformation for the Bosonic
Thirring model which is verified by some B\"acklund transitions like
Vacuum-One soliton, One soliton - One soliton, One soliton - Two solitons and
Two solitons - Two solitons. The Lax formulation within the space split by the
defect leads to the integrability of Bosonic Thirring model.Comment: Latex 21 page
Type-II super-Backlund transformation and integrable defects for the N=1 super sinh-Gordon model
A new super-Backlund transformation for the N=1 supersymmetric sinh-Gordon
equation is constructed. Based on this construction we propose a type-II
integrable defect for the supersymmetric sinh-Gordon model consistent with this
new transformation through the Lagrangian formalism. Explicit expressions for
the modified conserved energy, momentum and supercharges are also computed. In
addition, we show for the model that the type-II defect can also been regarded
as a pair of fused defects of a previously introduced type. The explicit
derivation of the associated defect matrices is also presented as a necessary
condition for the integrability of the model.Comment: Latex 31 pages. Version accepted for publicatio
On the Superradiance of Spin-1 Waves in an Equatorial Wedge around a Kerr Hole
Recently Van Putten has suggested that superradiance of magnetosonic waves in
a toroidal magnetosphere around a Kerr black hole may play a role in the
central engine of gamma-ray bursts. In this context, he computed (in the WKB
approximation) the superradiant amplification of scalar waves confined to a
thin equatorial wedge around a Kerr hole and found that the superradiance is
higher than for radiation incident over all angles. This paper presents
calculations of both spin-0 (scalar) superradiance (integrating the radial
equation rather than using the WKB method) and and spin-1
(electromagnetic/magnetosonic) superradiance, in Van Putten's wedge geometry.
In contrast to the scalar case, spin-1 superradiance decreases in the wedge
geometry, decreasing the likelihood of its astrophysical importance.Comment: Submitted to The Astrophysical Journal Letter
Thirring Model with Jump Defect
The purpose of our work is to extend the formulation of classical affine Toda
Models in the presence of jump defects to pure fermionic Thirring model. As a
first attempt we construct the Lagrangian of the Grassmanian Thirring model
with jump defect (of Backlund type) and present its conserved modified momentum
and energy expressions giving a first indication of its integrability.Comment: Poster contribution to the 5th International School on Field Theory
