    Defect detection in textile fabric images using subband domain subspace analysis

    In this work, a new model that combines the concepts of wavelet transformation and subspace analysis tools, like Independent Component Analysis, Topographic Independent Component Analysis, and Independent Subspace Analysis, is developed for the purpose of defect detection in textile images. In previous works, it has been shown that reduction of the textural components of the textile image by preprocessing has increased the performance of the system. Based on this observation, in present work, the aforementioned subspace analysis tools are aimed to be applied on the sub-band images. The feature vector of a sub-window of a test image is compared with that of the defect-free image in order to make a decision. This decision is based on a Euclidean distance classifier. The performance increase that results using wavelet transformation prior to subspace analysis has been discussed in detail. While all the subspace analysis methods has been found to lead to the same detection performances, as a further step, independent subspace analysis is used to classify the detected defects according to their directionalities

    Dose–Response Effect of Antibodies to S100 Protein and Cannabinoid Receptor Type 1 in Released-Active Form in the Light–Dark Test in Mice

    Earlier studies have shown that combination of antibodies to S100 protein and to cannabinoid receptor type 1 in released-active form (Brizantin) may possess anxiolytic properties and decrease nicotine dependence. Released-active form of antibodies is a novel approach that permits to modify natural functions of the target molecule (antigen) under investigation. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the anxiolytic-like effect of Brizantin in the light–dark test in mice, according to its ability to influence the number of entries into the lit compartment and the total time spent there. Three doses of Brizantin (2.5, 5, and 10 mL/kg) were compared with diazepam (1 mg/kg), placebo, and vehicle control. Anxiolytic-like effect of the tested drug was shown to be dose dependent, with an increasing trend from 2.5 to 10 mL/kg. Brizantin in its highest dose significantly increased studied behavioral parameters, although its effect was less pronounced than that of the reference drug diazepam (1 mg/kg)

    2D Four-Channel Perfect Reconstruction Filter Bank Realized with the 2D Lattice Filter Structure

    <p/> <p>A novel orthogonal 2D lattice structure is incorporated into the design of a nonseparable 2D four-channel perfect reconstruction filter bank. The proposed filter bank is obtained by using the polyphase decomposition technique which requires the design of an orthogonal 2D lattice filter. Due to constraint of perfect reconstruction, each stage of this lattice filter bank is simply parameterized by two coefficients. The perfect reconstruction property is satisfied regardless of the actual values of these parameters and of the number of the lattice stages. It is also shown that a separable 2D four-channel perfect reconstruction lattice filter bank can be constructed from the 1D lattice filter and that this is a special case of the proposed 2D lattice filter bank under certain conditions. The perfect reconstruction property of the proposed 2D lattice filter approach is verified by computer simulations.</p
