Quantum data hiding with spontaneous parameter down-conversion
Here we analyze the practical implication of the existing quantum data hiding
protocol with Bell states produced with optical downconverter. We show that the
uncertainty for the producing of the Bell states with spontaneous parameter
down-conversion should be taken into account, because it will cause serious
trouble to the hider encoding procedure. A set of extended Bell states and a
generalized Bell states analyzer are proposed to describe and analyze the
possible states of two photons distributing in two paths. Then we present a
method to integrate the above uncertainty of Bell states preparation into the
dating hiding procedure, when we encode the secret with the set of extended
Bell states. These modifications greatly simplify the hider's encoding
operations, and thus paves the way for the implementation of quantum data
hiding with present-day quantum optics.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure, adding some analyse for security proof, to be

GRIDCC: Real-time workflow system
The Grid is a concept which allows the sharing of resources between distributed communities, allowing each to progress towards potentially different goals. As adoption of the Grid increases so are the activities that people wish to conduct through it. The GRIDCC project is a European Union funded project addressing the issues of integrating instruments into the Grid. This increases the requirement of workflows and Quality of Service upon these workflows as many of these instruments have real-time requirements. In this paper we present the workflow management service within the GRIDCC project which is tasked with optimising the workflows and ensuring that they meet the pre-defined QoS requirements specified upon them
Secondary Rayleigh-Taylor type Instabilities in the Reconnection Exhaust Jet as a Mechanism for Supra-Arcade Downflows
Supra-arcade downflows (hereafter referred to as SADs) are low-emission,
elongated, finger-like features usually observed in active-region coronae above
post-eruption flare arcades. Observations exhibit downward moving SADs
intertwined with bright upward moving spikes. Whereas SADs are dark voids,
spikes are brighter, denser structures. Although SADs have been observed for
decades, the mechanism of formation of SADs remains an open issue. In our
three-dimensional resistive magnetohydrodynamic simulations, we demonstrate
that secondary Rayleigh-Taylor type instabilities develop in the downstream
region of a reconnecting current sheet. The instability results in the
formation of low-density coherent structures that resemble SADs, and
high-density structures that appear to be spike-like. Comparison between the
simulation results and observations suggests that secondary Rayleigh-Taylor
type instabilities in the exhaust of reconnecting current sheets provide a
plausible mechanism for observed SADs and spikes
Constructions of free commutative integro-differential algebras
In this survey, we outline two recent constructions of free commutative
integro-differential algebras. They are based on the construction of free
commutative Rota-Baxter algebras by mixable shuffles. The first is by
evaluations. The second is by the method of Gr\"obner-Shirshov bases.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1302.004
Possible under the peak in photoproduction
The LEPS collaboration has recently reported a measurement of the reaction
with linearly polarized photon beam at
resonance region. The observed beam asymmetry is sizably negative at
, in contrast to the presented theoretical
prediction. In this paper, we calculate this process in the framework of the
effective Lagrangian approach. By including a newly proposed
state with mass around 1380~MeV, the experimental
data for both and experiments can be well reproduced. It
is found that the and/or the contact term may play
important role and deserve further investigation.Comment: modified version to be published at Phys. Rev.
Radio light curves during the passage of cloud G2 near Sgr A*
We calculate radio light curves produced by the bow shock that is likely to
form in front of the G2 cloud when it penetrates the accretion disk of Sgr A*.
The shock acceleration of the radio-emitting electrons is captured
self-consistently by means of first-principles particle-in-cell simulations. We
show that the radio luminosity is expected to reach maximum in early 2013,
roughly a month after the bow shock crosses the orbit pericenter. We estimate
the peak radio flux at 1.4 GHz to be 1.4 - 22 Jy depending on the assumed orbit
orientation and parameters. We show that the most promising frequencies for
radio observations are in the 0.1<nu<1 GHz range, for which the bow shock
emission will be much stronger than the intrinsic radio flux for all the models
considered.Comment: 15 pages, 10 figures, accepted for publication in MNRA
Neutrino Masses, Lepton Flavor Mixing and Leptogenesis in the Minimal Seesaw Model
We present a review of neutrino phenomenology in the minimal seesaw model
(MSM), an economical and intriguing extension of the Standard Model with only
two heavy right-handed Majorana neutrinos. Given current neutrino oscillation
data, the MSM can predict the neutrino mass spectrum and constrain the
effective masses of the tritium beta decay and the neutrinoless double-beta
decay. We outline five distinct schemes to parameterize the neutrino
Yukawa-coupling matrix of the MSM. The lepton flavor mixing and baryogenesis
via leptogenesis are investigated in some detail by taking account of possible
texture zeros of the Dirac neutrino mass matrix. We derive an upper bound on
the CP-violating asymmetry in the decay of the lighter right-handed Majorana
neutrino. The effects of the renormalization-group evolution on the neutrino
mixing parameters are analyzed, and the correlation between the CP-violating
phenomena at low and high energies is highlighted. We show that the observed
matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe can naturally be interpreted
through the resonant leptogenesis mechanism at the TeV scale. The
lepton-flavor-violating rare decays, such as , are also
discussed in the supersymmetric extension of the MSM.Comment: 50 pages, 22 EPS figures, macro file ws-ijmpe.cls included, accepted

Microscopic DC-TDHF study of heavy-ion potentials and fusion cross sections
We study heavy-ion fusion reactions at energies near the Coulomb barrier, in
particular with neutron-rich radioactive ion beams. Dynamic microscopic
calculations are carried out on a three-dimensional lattice using the
Density-Constrained Time-Dependent Hartree-Fock (DC-TDHF) method. New results
are presented for the Sn+Ca system which are compared to
Sn+Ca studied earlier. Our theoretical fusion cross-sections
agree surprisingly well with recent data measured at HRIBF. We also study the
near- and sub-barrier fusion of O on C which is important to
determine the composition and heating of the crust of accreting neutron stars.Comment: Talk given by . Volker E. Oberacker at the 11th International

Finding Person Relations in Image Data of the Internet Archive
The multimedia content in the World Wide Web is rapidly growing and contains
valuable information for many applications in different domains. For this
reason, the Internet Archive initiative has been gathering billions of
time-versioned web pages since the mid-nineties. However, the huge amount of
data is rarely labeled with appropriate metadata and automatic approaches are
required to enable semantic search. Normally, the textual content of the
Internet Archive is used to extract entities and their possible relations
across domains such as politics and entertainment, whereas image and video
content is usually neglected. In this paper, we introduce a system for person
recognition in image content of web news stored in the Internet Archive. Thus,
the system complements entity recognition in text and allows researchers and
analysts to track media coverage and relations of persons more precisely. Based
on a deep learning face recognition approach, we suggest a system that
automatically detects persons of interest and gathers sample material, which is
subsequently used to identify them in the image data of the Internet Archive.
We evaluate the performance of the face recognition system on an appropriate
standard benchmark dataset and demonstrate the feasibility of the approach with
two use cases
Spin interference and Fano effect in electron transport through a mesoscopic ring side-coupled with a quantum dot
We investigate the electron transport through a mesoscopic ring side-coupled
with a quantum dot(QD) in the presence of Rashba spin-orbit(SO) interaction. It
is shown that both the Fano resonance and the spin interference effects play
important roles in the electron transport properties. As the QD level is around
the Fermi energy, the total conductance shows typical Fano resonance line
shape. By applying an electrical gate voltage to the QD, the total transmission
through the system can be strongly modulated. By threading the mesoscopic ring
with a magnetic flux, the time-reversal symmetry of the system is broken, and a
spin polarized current can be obtained even though the incident current is
unpolarized.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
