Photon redshift and the appearance of a naked singularity

    Get PDF
In this paper we analyze the redshift as observed by an external observer receiving photons which terminate in the past at the naked singularity formed in a Tolman-Bondi dust collapse. Within the context of models considered here it is shown that photons emitted from a weak curvature naked singularity are always finitely redshifted to an external observer. Certain cases of strong curvature naked singularities, including the self-similar one, where the photons are infinitely redshifted are also pointed out.Comment: Latex file, 14 pages, no figures, one change in the reference. Anthelmintic Activity of a Polyherbal Preparation

    Get PDF
The present study was done with the aim to investigate the anthelmintic activity of polyherbal formulation containing herbs Thespesia populnea (bark), Terminalia alata (bark), Clematis triloba (roots) and Ceratophyllum demersum (leaves) using adult earthworm Pheritima posthuma. The aqueous and ethanolic extract of the crude drug of different concentration were tested which involve determination of paralysis time and time to kill the worms. Piperazine citrate was used as standard and it was found that the PHF ethanolic extract activity is higher than PHF aqueous extract

Calcined Phosphate Fertilizer from Jhamarkotra Secondary Phosphate Ore and Rock Phosphate Beneficiation Plant Bulk Circuit Tail

    Get PDF
The secondary phosphate ore of RSMML 's Jhamarkotra rock phosphate mines have high iron content that renders it unsuitable for manufacturing of phosphatic fertilizers like SSP,DAP and phosphoric acid. This paper explores the feasibility of utilizing the secondary phosphate ore by thermal treatment, which involves calcination as well as fusion. The calcined and fused products both have good citrate solubility and thus have a potential to be used as a citrate soluble phosphatic fertilizer. This paper also deals some phosphate resources which are added during thermal treatment. These additives not only assist in the fusion and calcination but also improves soil fertility. These are more beneficial to the soil. Calcined dolomite tailing among these has a potential to be utilized as citrate soluble phosphate rich magnesium fertilize

Null Geodesic Expansion in Spherical Gravitational Collapse

    Get PDF
We derive an expression for the expansion of outgoing null geodesics in spherical dust collapse and compute the limiting value of the expansion in the approach to singularity formation. An analogous expression is derived for the spherical collapse of a general form of matter. We argue on the basis of these results that the covered as well as the naked singularity solutions arising in spherical dust collapse are stable under small changes in the equation of state.Comment: 10 pages, Latex File, No figure

Utilization of Nano Technology in Reducing Moisture Content of Phosphate Cake at RSMML Rock Phosphate Beneficiation Plant

    Get PDF
After the induction of High Pressure Grinding Rolls at rock Phosphate Beneficiation Plant, The belt Drum Filters (BDF's) performance rapidly deteriorated. This was mainly attributed to fine grinding i.e., about 85% < 25 microns. The phosphate cake produced by BDF was sloppy and posed problems in handling and transportation. The sloppier the product the more inefficient in loading and transportat-ion'. Thus the most daunting task was to reduce moisture content of phosphate cake from about 22% to 13-15%. This paper discusses the most critical role played by nano-technology in tackling this problem

Dysfunctional uterine bleeding: ormeloxifene versus combined oral contraceptive pills

    Get PDF
Background: Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is abnormal bleeding that occurs in the absence of recognizable pelvic pathology, general medical disease, or pregnancy.  Globally, health care systems are focusing on low morbidity and low cost therapeutic interventions. Hence, medical treatment for DUB is high on the priority list. This comparative study was conducted to analyse the efficacy of ormeloxifene and combined oral contraceptive pills in reducing the blood loss and endometrial thickness in cases of DUB.Methods: This prospective study was conducted on women with dysfunctional uterine bleeding, who attended Gynaecology OPD at Hind Institute of Medical Sciences, between August 2015 and April 2016. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 72 women diagnosed with DUB were enrolled randomly in two groups A and B. Group A was treated by Ormeloxifene and Group B patients were treated with combined oral contraceptive pills for three consecutive cycles. The efficacies of the studied drugs were compared by analyzing the mean change in the pre and post treatment PBAC score, haemoglobin level and endometrial thickness using unpaired t-test.Results: Ormeloxifene was found to be significantly more effective (p <0.0001) than OCPs in controlling the menstrual blood loss (79% reduction in group A Vs 55.5% reduction in group B). Reduction in endometrial thickness was also more in the group receiving Ormrloxifene, however this was statistically not significant (p = 0.19). No major side effect observed with the use of Ormeloxifene. Conclusions: Ormeloxifene can be an effective and safe therapy in the treatment of Dysfunctional uterine bleeding

Naked strong curvature singularities in Szekeres space-times

    Get PDF
We investigate the occurrence and nature of naked singularities in the Szekeres space-times. These space-times represent irrotational dust. They do not have any Killing vectors and they are generalisations of the Tolman-Bondi-Lemaitre space-times. It is shown that in these space-times there exist naked singularities that satisfy both the limiting focusing condition and the strong limiting focusing condition. The implications of this result for the cosmic censorship hypothesis are discussed.Comment: latex, 9 page

Traditional Phytotherapy used in the Treatment of Malaria by Rural People of Bhopal, District of Madhya Pradesh, India

    Get PDF
Malaria is caused by Plasmodium and transmitted through female Anopheles mosquito. The disease is common in rural areas. Although a number of synthetic medicines have been used for the treatment of malaria, but they have adverse effects and their high cost is beyond the reach of common people. It is, therefore, worthwhile to look towards antimalarial herbal drugs. Herbal drugs are cheaper, easily available and with no fear of any side effects. The present paper enumerates the herbs used in malaria by the rural people of Bhopal district of Madhya Pradesh, India

Divergence of the Quantum Stress Tensor on the Cauchy Horizon in 2-d Dust Collapse

    Get PDF
We prove that the quantum stress tensor for a massless scalar field in two dimensional non-selfsimilar Tolman Bondi dust collapse and Vaidya radiation collapse models diverges on the Cauchy horizon, if the latter exists. The two dimensional model is obtained by suppressing angular co-ordinates in the corresponding four dimensional spherical model.Comment: 16 pages, no figures, LaTeX fil
