    This study was about the application of guessing games technique in speaking ability of the first year students. The aim of this study was to find out the improvement students' speaking ability through guessing games technique at MTS Hassanah and to find out the effectiveness of guessing games technique in improving students' speaking ability. 24 out of 120 students were chosen through cluster random technique sampling. The analysis was based on giving oral test to the students. It was found that there were significant improvement; 4 students (16.7%) were in excellent level, 20 students (83.3%) were in good level, and there is no students in mediocre, poor and very poor level. It implies that the students' ability falls into good ability level. Based on the result, it is recommended that teachers pay attention more to the students about how to speak English well. It is also important to apply games especially guessing game in the term of motivating the students so that they are brave to speak up and fun to learn English

    Pengaruh Bahan Organik Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Hasil Tanaman Padi (Oryza Sativa L.) Varietas Inpari 13 Sistem Tanam Jajar Legowo

    Tanaman Padi (Oryza sativa L.) merupakan makanan pokok di Indonesia. Penggunaan pupuk kimia sintetik yang terus-menerus pada budidaya padi dan sisa panen dikeluarkan dari lahan mengakibatkan kandungan bahan organik tanah rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh bahan organik hijauan terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman padi varietas inpari 13 sistem tanam jajar legowo. Penelitian dilaksanan pada bulan April sampai Juli 2012 di Desa Nyormanis, Blega - Bangkalan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 7 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan ialah pupuk anorganik (K), Crotalaria juncea 2 t ha-1 kombinasi pupuk kandang sapi 7,2 t ha-1 (C1), Crotalaria juncea 4 t ha-1 kombinasi pupuk kandang sapi 4,8 t ha-1 (C2), Crotalaria juncea 6 t ha-1 kombinasi pupuk kandang sapi 2,4 t ha-1 (C3), Sesbania rostrata 1,75 t ha-1 kombinasi pupuk kandang sapi 7,2 t ha-1 (S1), Sesbania rostrata 3,5 t ha-1 kombinasi pupuk kandang sapi 4,8 t ha-1 (S2), Sesbania rostrata 5,25 t ha-1 kombinasi pupuk kandang sapi 2,4 t ha-1 (S3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian bahan organik Sesbania rostrata 1,75 t ha-1 kombinasi pupuk kandang sapi 7,2 t ha-1 (S1) mampu menghasilkan berat kering gabah sebesar 5,27 t ha-1 lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan perlakuan bahan organik lainnya. Konstribusi tertinggi terhadap unsur hara tertinggal dalam tanah untuk musim tanam selanjutnya, ditunjukkan oleh pemberian Sesbania rostrata 5,25 t ha-1 kombinasi pupuk kandang sapi 2,4 t ha-1 (S3) dengan nilai kandungan N total 0,13 %; P2O5 2,87 mg/kg; K2O 0,01 mg/kg dan bahan organik 1,45 %
