Types and Abundance of Phytoplankton of the Boko-Boko Peat Swamp in the Langgam Village, Langgam District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province
The area around the Boko-Boko peat swamp has been used for palm plantation. Remains of fertilizer and pestiside used in the plantation may enter the water and decrease the water quality of the swamp and thus reduce the water quality in general. To understand the type and abundance of phytoplankton in the Boko-Boko peat swamp's waters, a research was conducted in March 2016. There were three sampling stations namely Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3. Samplings were conducted 3 times, once/week. Results shown that there are 18 species of phytoplankton present in the peat swamp. They were classified into four classes, namely: Bacillariophyceae (6 species), Chloropyhceae (1 species), Cyanophyceae (5 species) and Xanthophycea (3 Species). The average of phytoplankton abundance was around 10,948 β 18,186 cells/L, species diversity index (H') was 2.082 -2.424, index equatibility (E) was 0.81 β 0.86 and dominance index (C) was 0.218 β 0.288. While the water quality parameters were as follows: temperature 30.1 β 30.4 0C, transparency 48.6 - 60 cm, depth 148.3 β 180 cm, pH 5, CO2 : 7.32 β 9.99 mg/L, DO : 2.54 β 3.26 mg/L, nitrate : 0.4444 β 0.6436 mg/L and phosphate : 0.7779 β 0.123 mg/L. Based on the abundance of pyhtoplankton, it can be concluded that the peat swamp Boko - Boko can be categorized as mesotropic
The Vertical Profile of Nitrate in Pinang Dalam Oxbow Lake Buluh China Village Siak Hulu Sub District Kampar District Riau Province
This research has been done in Pinang Dalam Oxbow Lake from Maret 2014. Thisresearch aims to understand the vertical profile of nitrate in Pinang Dalam oxbow lake. Theresearch used survey method. Sample were taken in three stations, namely station 1, station 2 andstation 3. Sampling vertical based transparency, at surface, 2,5 secchi disk, and in the bottom. The parameters of water quality measured nitrate, phosphate, temperature, transparancy, depth,pH, free carbon dioxide (CO) and dissolved oxygen (DO). The result shown nitrate range 0,020- 0,337 mg/L, phosphate 0,037 β 0,710 mg/L, temperature 28,3-28,7 oC, transparancy 27,3-28,5cm, depth 145-302 cm, pH 5, free carbon dioxide 5,33 - 9,32 mg/L, and dissolved oxygen 2,40- 6,83 mg/L. The vertical profile of nitrate showed increased with the increment of depth. Theparameters of water quality were observed still support the aquatic organisms
Analisis Sumberdaya Ikan Tembang (Sardinella Fimbriata) Di Perairan Selat Sunda Yang Didaratkan Di Ppp Labuan, Banten (Analysis of Fringescale Sardinella (Sardinella Fimbriata) Resources in Sunda Strait That Landed on Ppp Labuan, Banten)
Fringescale sardinella (Sardinella fimbriata) is one of the economically important fish resources found in Sunda Strait waters. High economic value with the increasing demand of fish makes it as one of the main targets of capture. Intensive utilization on fringescale sardinella resulted in overfishing. The aim of this research is to identify production pattern, fishing ground, fishing season pattern and appropriate alternative management. This research carried out on April to June 2014. The results show that fringescale sardinella has a fluctuated production pattern. Fishing season for fringescale sardinella is on May-October, while the fringescale sardinella bad season (low catches) is on March. Fishing ground for fringescale sardinella in Sunda Strait waters are Labuan Bay, Tanjung Lesung, Sumur, Panaitan Strait, Rakata Island, Ujung Kulon, Sebesi Island, Tanjung Alang-alang, and Peucang Island. Management for fringescale sardinella can be accomplished by increase the mesh size, management fishing season (open-close system) and fishing areas
Trophic Status of the Boko-Boko Peat Swamp in the Langgam Village, Langgam District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau
The area around the Boko-Boko peat swamp has been used for palm plantation. Remains of fertilizer and pestiside used in the plantation may enter the water and decrease the water quality of the swamp. To understand the trophic status of the Boko-Boko peat swamp\u27s waters, a research was conducted in March 2016. There were three sampling stations namely Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3 and in each station there were three sampling points, in the surface, 1.5 secchi and in the bottom. Samplings were conducted 3 times, once/week. Trophic status was calculated based on Carlson\u27s Trophic State Index (TSI). Results shown that the transparency was 49 β 60 m, total phosphorus 0.13 β 0.17 mg/L, chlorophyll-a 3.12 β 6.19 ΞΌg/L, depth 45 β 250 cm, temperature 30 - 31ΒΊC, pH 4 β 5, dissolved oxygen 0.41 β 3.26 mg/L, free carbondioxide 7.33 β 21.31 mg/L and nitrate 0.44 β 0.72 mg/L. Based on Carlson\u27s TSI, the water of the Boko-Boko peat swamp is categorized as moderate-eutrophic
Water Quality of Parit Belanda River Based on Physical-chemical Parameters, Rumbai Pesisir District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province
The area around the Parit Belanda Riverhas been used by human activity. Remains of the activity may enter the water and decrease the water quality of the river. To understand the water quality of the Parit Belanda River, a research was conducted in March-April 2016. There were three sampling stations namely Station 1 in up stream, Station 2 in the middle of the stream, and Station 3 in down stream. Samplings were conducted 4 times, once/week.Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, velocity, pH,DO,CO2,nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that temperature: 29-30oC, pH : 5, DO:3.15-3.96 mg/L, CO2: 22.98-56.93mg/L,velocity : 0.9-0.27 cm/second, transparency: 30.75-38.75 cm, nitrate: 0.13-0.21 mg/L, and phosphate 0.25-0.33 mg/L. Nitrate concentration indicate that the Parit Belanda River was categorized as oligotrophic, but base on phosphate concentration indicate that the Parit Belanda River is mesotrophic
Study of Periphyton on Glass Substrates in Sago River Pekanbaru
Periphyton is a group of microorganism that grow in some natural substrates such as rock, wood, plants and aquatic animals.A research aims to understand the type and abundance of periphyton in the Sago River has been carried out in April-May 2015. Samples were taken from three station, once/ week for a 4 weeks period. Type of periphyton was identified based on Prescot (1974), and Yunfang (1995). Result shown that there are 39 types of periphyton and they are belonged to 8 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (13 species), benthic Crustacean (1 species), Chlorophyceae (6 species), Cyanophyceae (8species), Cryptophyceae (3species), Dinophyceae (4species), Euglenophyceae (2 species) and Xanthophyceae (2 species). The abudance of periphyton in the all station Sago River is significantly different, there were S1 (7,533cells/cm2), S2 (10,206cells /cm2), and S3 (13,277cells /cm2). The abundance of periphyton in the Sago River in general was around 7,533β 13,277 cells /cm2
