Extrusion die life prediction: A probabilistic approach

9-12<span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height: 115%;font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-fareast-font-family:"times="" new="" roman";="" mso-ansi-language:en-in;mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="" lang="EN-IN">A theoretical model has been proposed to predict the extrusion die life on the basis of the fracture mechanics and the physically meaningful concept of fatigue. Monte-Carlo simulation technique is adopted to simulate the die life data. A comparison is also made with the real life data collected .from an extrusion plant. Weibull model is found to be a suitable distribution for the extrusion die life data. </span
