The nonlinear evolution of large scale structures in Growing Neutrino cosmologies
We present the results of the first N-body simulations of the Growing
Neutrino scenario, as recently discussed in Baldi et al. (2011). Our results
have shown for the first time how neutrino lumps forming in the context of
Growing Neutrino cosmologies are expected to pulsate as a consequence of the
rapid oscillations of the dark energy scalar field. We have also computed for
the first time a realistic statistical distribution of neutrino halos and
determined their impact on the underlying Cold Dark Matter structures.Comment: 4 pages, 2 Figures. To appear in the Proceedings Volume of the

YouTube Atherectomy Videos: What Industry is Telling Us About this Endovascular Procedure
BACKGROUND:
Patients are turning to the Internet and YouTube for information about their providers, disease states and potential interventions. Endovascular atherectomy is a common procedure undertaken in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease especially in outpatient treatment centers despite its cost. Little is known how this procedure is portrayed in online video content. We set forth to search YouTube to gain insight to how industry and non-industry portrays this endovascular technology.
METHODS:
YouTube (www.youtube.com) website was accessed in July 2017 with a cleared cached web browser for the key search word “atherectomy”. The top 100 videos with greater than 100 views were examined. All results were separated into two categories - industry (I) or non-industry (NI) sources. The duration of video, age of video, total video views, academic information, cost information and if outpatient treatment center focused care were also collected.
RESULTS:
A total of 100 videos were examined. The videos were separated into two groups: Industry (n=20) and Non-Industry (n=80). Videos from Industry and Non-Industry were similar in content in terms of duration (4.8 ± 4.5 and 5.6 ± 4.4 minutes), creation time (3.3 ± 2.2 and 3.4 ± 1.9 years), and total views (7386 ± 14,593 and 5560 ± 13,181). Proportions of videos from each group that contained educational content were also similar (70% and 70%). However, only 7% (n=7) of the videos reference the procedure being linked to care in outpatient treatment center. Only 3% (n=3) mentioned the cost of the procedure. All of these videos from each of these categories were from non-industry sources.
Conclusion:
In our sampling of “Atherectomy” YouTube videos, we find similar video content in terms of duration, creation time, total views and educational content. Interestingly, the cost and its association with outpatient treatment labs is mentioned in only a minority of the videos and only from non-industry sources. These data should inform the vascular surgery community the lack of public understanding of this endovascular technology as evidenced in YouTube videos
The Economics of Next Generation Access Networks and Regulatory Governance: Towards Geographic Patterns of Regulation
This paper examines the mix of technical, regulatory, and business strategy issues that arise in implementing next generation broadband platforms in Europe. Our review of some European studies on NGAN in Europe and our specific focus on the Italian situation, in particular on the competitive situation in Milano, shows the relevant flaw of continuing to advocate national patterns of regulation. In fact, the deployment of NGAN calls for a radical shift of regulation on a geographic level. The recognition that a NGAN business case does exist for OLO in a number of local areas, mainly metropolitan ones, has relevant regulatory implications. In the first place, since the conditions of competition differ significantly among local areas, regulation should promote both incumbents' and OLO's investments in NGAN by limiting ex ante interventions to those enduring economic bottlenecks found at a specific geographic markets level. In the second place, market definition is the most important step in the market analysis procedure to help decide whether to regulate a given service provided over a NGAN or not. We have proposed a taxonomy of local areas that may be adopted in a country like Italy for a correct geographic definition of markets 4 and 5 and, as a consequence, for the imposition of appropriate remedies.Next Generation Networks, geographic markets, geographic remedies, infrastructure sharing, market definition.

Ghost Chaplygin scalar field model of dark energy
We investigate the correspondence between the ghost and Chaplygin scalar
field dark energy models in the framework of Einstein gravity. We consider a
spatially non-flat FRW universe containing the interacting dark energy with
dark matter. We reconstruct the potential and the dynamics for the Chaplygin
scalar field model according to the evolutionary behavior of the ghost dark
energy which can describe the phantomic accelerated expansion of the universe.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, matched to published versio
Atmospheric, Solar, and CHOOZ neutrinos: a global three generation analysis
We perform a global three generation analysis of the current solar and
atmospheric evidence in favor of neutrino oscillations. We also include the
negative results coming from CHOOZ to constrain the nu_e mixing. We study the
zones of mass-mixing oscillations parameters compatible with all the data. It
is shown that almost pure nu_mu nu_tau oscillations are required to
explain the atmospheric neutrino anomaly and almost pure nu_1 nu_2
oscillations to account for the solar neutrino deficit.Comment: 4 pages, talk given at 36th Rencontres de Moriond: Electroweak

Disentangling instrumental broadening
A new procedure aiming at disentangling the instrumental profile broadening
and the relevant X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) profile shape is presented.
The technique consists of three steps: denoising by means of wavelet
transforms, background suppression by morphological functions and deblurring by
a Lucy--Richardson damped deconvolution algorithm. Real XRPD intensity profiles
of ceria samples are used to test the performances. Results show the robustness
of the method and its capability of efficiently disentangling the instrumental
broadening affecting the measurement of the intrinsic physical line profile.
These features make the whole procedure an interesting and user-friendly tool
for the pre-processing of XRPD data.Comment: 9 pages, 1 table, 1 figure; typos correcte
