Background: Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders that can cause social anxiety and perceived stress in individuals. This study aimed to investigate the effects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) on social anxiety and perceived stress in patients with epilepsy. Methods: It was a quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test design and equal control group performed on people with epilepsy under the auspices of the Khorasan Razavi epilepsy support association in 2019. Thirty patients were selected by purposive sampling method and randomly assigned to two groups (15 patients in the experimental group and 15 patients in the control group). Research tools including Conver's social anxiety questionnaire (2000) and Cohen et al.'s (1983) perceived stress questionnaire were used. Multivariate analysis of MANCOVA and ANCOVA multivariate analysis of covariance was used for data analysis. Results: The results showed that the mean of social anxiety and perceived stress in the experimental group decreased significantly compared to the control group in the post-test (Pvalue<0.05). The results of one-way analysis of covariance with pre-test control showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups in terms of social anxiety (F=65.75 and Pvalue<0.001). Moreover, there was a significant difference between patients with epilepsy in the experimental group and the control group in terms of perceived stress (F=138.56 and Pvalue<0.001). Conclusions: It can be said that the ACT can reduce social anxiety and perceived stress in patients with epilepsy. Keywords: Epilepsy, Patient, Acceptance and commitment therapy, Social anxiety, Perceived stres

Background: The satisfaction of self-determination needs and alleviation of academic burnout help students reduce/adjust the stress and psychological pressure resulting from studies and the university entrance examinations. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) on self-determination needs and academic burnout among students showing depressive symptoms in Dehloran (Iran). Methods: In this experimental study, the statistical population comprised all female twelfth-grade high-school students studying for the university entrance exam in Dehloran, Iran in the academic year 2020-21. The sample consisted of 45 students showing depressive symptoms who were selected by convenience sampling, and then randomly divided into two experimental (MBSR and DBT) and a control group (n=15 each). Either MBSR or DBT intervention was administered to the experimental groups, but the control group received no intervention. The research instruments included the Self-Determination Needs Scale, Academic Burnout Scale, and Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). The data were analyzed via descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). Results: The results showed that MBSR and DBT both positively affected the self-determination needs (F=92.44, Pvalue=0.001) and academic burnout (F=68.54, Pvalue=0.001) of students studying for the university entrance exam and showing depressive symptoms. According to the results, MBSR was more effective in students' self-determination and academic burnout (Pvalue=0.01). Conclusions: It was found that both MBSR and DBT can help improve the self-determination needs and academic burnout of female high-school students studying for the university entrance exam and showing depressive symptoms. This study aims to determine and analyze the quality of services that include physical evidence, appeal, responsiveness, assurance and empathy affect the decision to use Sequis Life insurance services in the city of Samarinda, either partially or simultaneously. The analytical tool used in this research is multiple linear regression. The research instrument test was carried out with validity and reliability tests, as well as classical assumption tests consisting of normality tests, linearity tests, multicollinearity tests, heteroscedasticity tests and autocorrelation tests. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the t statistical test, f statistical test and the coefficient of determination (R2).The results of the research conducted indicate that the physical evidence variable and the alarm variable have a positive and insignificant effect on the decision to use Sequis Life insurance services in the city of Samarinda, while the responsiveness variable, guarantee variable, empathy variable have a positive and significant effect on the decision to use Sequis Life insurance services in Samarinda. Samarinda city.Based on the results of the statistical test f, the independent variables consisting of physical evidence, appeal, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the decision to use Sequis Life insurance services in the city of Samarind

This study aims to determine and analyze knowing and analyzing the effect of products, prices, and word of mouth on consumer purchasing decisions at Best Fried Chicken in Samarinda, either partially or simultaneously. The analytical tool used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis. This research was conducted by conducting validity tests and reliability tests, as well as classical assumption tests consisting of normality test, autocorrelation test, multicollinearity test, and heteroscedasticity test. The hypothesis testing is done by using the coefficient of determination (R2), the t statistical test, and the F statistical testThe results of the research conducted indicate that the product variable partially has a positive and significant effect on the purchasing decision of Best Fried Chicken in Samarinda, meanwhile the price and word of mouth variables partially have a negative and insignificant effect on the purchasing decision of Best Fried Chicken in Samarinda. Based on the results of the F statistical test, the independent variable consisting of product, price, and word of mouth variables simultaneously has a significant effect on the purchasing decision (Y) of Best Fried Chicken in Samarinda. These findings indicate that the product variable is a variable that motivates consumers to choose to buy Best Fried Chicken, where the better the product, both in terms of quality and quantity, the more demanded by consumers, while consumers are not affected by price factors and that how the assessment or information from word of mouth by consumers does not affect the decisions of other consumers to make purchases at Best Fried Chicken

A Method to Identify and Analyze Biological Programs through Automated Reasoning.

Predictive biology is elusive because rigorous, data-constrained, mechanistic models of complex biological systems are difficult to derive and validate. Current approaches tend to construct and examine static interaction network models, which are descriptively rich but often lack explanatory and predictive power, or dynamic models that can be simulated to reproduce known behavior. However, in such approaches implicit assumptions are introduced as typically only one mechanism is considered, and exhaustively investigating all scenarios is impractical using simulation. To address these limitations, we present a methodology based on automated formal reasoning, which permits the synthesis and analysis of the complete set of logical models consistent with experimental observations. We test hypotheses against all candidate models, and remove the need for simulation by characterizing and simultaneously analyzing all mechanistic explanations of observed behavior. Our methodology transforms knowledge of complex biological processes from sets of possible interactions and experimental observations to precise, predictive biological programs governing cell function

Ornamental Stones of Piemonte (NW Italy): an updated geo-lithological map

    Get PDF
The 'Ornamental Stones of Piemonte Region' geo-lithological map at 1:250,000 scale aims at reviewing the ornamental stone heritage of Piemonte at the regional scale. The map derives from a thorough revision of the available literature, integrated with some unpublished original data. The map shows the location of the main quarries of ornamental stones of the region, selected on the basis of their historical, cultural and architectonic relevance. A geo-lithological basemap was produced, deriving it from a basic Geological Map of Piemonte, available at the same scale. The large varieties of lithotypes of Piemonte have been resumed, in the new map, into 21 classes, which all the ornamental stones have been assigned to. The Main Map is enriched by some significant examples of using the ornamental stones in historical buildings, and it is supported by a supplementary data base containing essential information about the quarry sites and the quarried material
