The issue of tissue irritation and biocompatibility has long been raised for all types of sealers. The calcium phosphate based root canal sealers, which is currently under new development (new CPS group; CAPSEAL I, CAPSEAL II) already showed good canal sealing ability, physical properties and low inductivity of inflammatory mediators in human periodontal ligament cells. The aim of this study was to compare the biocompatibility of CAPSEAL group with other sealers in the periapical bony tissue and to investigate the biological effects of the calcium phosphate sealers on the periapical osseous healing process of endodontic lesion. The biocompatibility of sealers was examined using cell viability assay (MTT) and the osteogenic potential of CAPSEAL group was analyzed by comparing the effects on the osteoblast differentiation of precursor cells. The MG63 human osteoblast-like cells were treated with sealers and the mRNA levels of the differentiation marker genes (alkaline phosphatase, osteonectin, osteopontin, osteocalcin) were detected by reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR). CAPSEAL I, CAPSEAL II, another types of commercially available calcium phosphate sealers (Apatite Root Sealer type I [ARS I]and Apatite Root Sealer III [ARS III]; Sankin Kogyo, Tokyo, Japan) and a zinc oxide eugenol based sealers (Pulp Canal Sealer EWT [PCS EWT]; Kerr, Detroit, MI) were examined. The results showed the cytotoxicity of CAPSEAL group was very low, and the mild cytotoxic effect of ARS I and III was observed in MG63 cells at 14days. RT-PCR analysis showed the early stage markers (alkaline phosphatase and osteopontin) were upregulated at 1, 3, and 7 days in CAPSEAL I, II, and ARS III and the effects were prominent at 7 days. The another early marker osteonectin was also upregulated at 1 day. The expression of the late stage marker osteocalcin was detected at 14 days when exposed to ARS I and CAPSEAL I. In this study, CAPSEAL group showed more biocompatible results than ZOE-based sealer (EWT) and another types of available calcium phosphate sealers (ARS I and III) in MG63 osteoblast-like cells. Moreover, beyond the bioinert and biocompatible properties, CAPSEAL group were observed to facilitate the periapical osseous healing process of endodontic lesion.     Background & Objective : In 2018, the proportion of the elderly(65โ‰ฅ) exceeded 14.3% and entered the aging society. In the case of Western welfare states, since the 1990s the โ€˜active agingโ€™ has been newly developed in response to the aging society. In 2020, WHO defined โ€˜active agingโ€™ as the process of aging that leads to active life through opportunities for health, participation, and safety in the multi-dimensional domains of individuals, organizations, and society. Most previous studies have investigated the association with cognitive decline using only individual independent variables or health and participation index factors that are components of active aging. In this study, we investigated the relationship between the active aging index and cognitive decline by using the active aging index(AAI), which is used to measure the elderly's activity ability and healthy aging. Method : This study utilized the 2nd(2008) and 6th(2016) of the aging research panel(KLoSA). The subjects of the study were 3,037 people with a K-MMSE score at least 24 points and at least 55 years of age as of 2008. As of 2016, the subjects with a K-MMSE score of less than 24 were selected as the cognitive decline group. The mean age of the study subjects was 64.8 years old for men(standard deviation, SD : 6.83) and 64.0 years old for women(SD : 6.48). The active aging index(0 to 1) was measured by health, participation, safety score and their average score in 2008. Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the association between the active aging index and cognitive function decline. Multivariate correction models included demographic characteristics(gender, age, education, residence, marriage) and health behaviors(smoking, drinking, exercising). Result : The mean scores of each active aging index were 0.64 ยฑ 0.22 points for health index 0.56 ยฑ 0.17 points for participation index, and 0.70 ยฑ 0.24 points for safety index. The mean score of the overall active aging index was 0.56 ยฑ 0.17 points. According to the multivariate correction model of the relationship between the active aging index and the cognitive decline, the odds ratio to be included in cognitive decline group after 8 years was 1.32(95% CI: 1.06-1.64) in low-health index group, which was significantly higher compared to the mid-level group. In the participant index, the low-level group had a significantly higher odds ratio of 1.52(95% CI: 1.20-1.94) compared to the mid-level group. In the safety index, the odds ratio for cognitive decline in the lower level group was 1.59(95% CI: 1.26-1.99), which is significantly higher than the mid-level group. Compared to the mean score of the overall active aging index of each group, the low-level group had a significantly higher odds ratio of 1.69(95% CI: 1.36-2.11) than that of the mid-level group, and the high-level group had 0.87(95% CI: 0.63-). 1.20). Conclusion : In the Korean elderly aged 64.4 years(SD : 6.67), the low active aging index group showed a 69% higher risk to be included in the cognitive decline group after 8 years of follow-up. [์˜๋ฌธ] Metabolic syndrome including obesity, diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia is associated with significant morbidity and mortality and is increasing in prevalence worldwide. To detect metabolic syndrome earlier, the most important thing is to recognize its associating risk factors. Recently, a growing number of studies have observed an association between sleep and metabolic syndrome. The present study aims to investigate the association of sleep quality assessed by Pittsburgh sleep quality index and metabolic syndrome. One hundred eighty-seven volunteers (men 115, women 72) with a mean age of 42.4 ยฑ 10.3 years were included in the study. Age, body mass index, blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, triglyceride, aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), and HDL cholesterol were significantly different between the subjects with and without metabolic syndrome. Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, high sensitivity C-reactive protein and the PSQI global score were higher in subjects with metabolic syndrome, however, there was no stastical significance between two groups. In logistic regression models adjusting for age, sex, alcohol, smoking and exercise, the PSQI global scores were not significantly associated with the metabolic syndrome. After further adjustment for body mass index, AST, and ALT, the PSQI global scores were significantly related to the metabolic syndrome (Odds ratio = 1.32, 95% Confidence interval = 1.00 &#8211; 1.74). Furthermore, our present study also showed that age and ALT predicted metabolic syndrome. In conclusion, self-reported sleep quality is related to the presence of metabolic syndrome.ope
