To clarify the taxonomy of Clematis of Ranunculaceae, herbarium specimens collected from South Korea past forty years were examined on the basis of leaf, flower and fruit morphology, The qualitative and quantitative characters showed that eleven taxa could be recognized. The current study rejected several taxa, such as C. heracleifolia var. davidiana Hemsl, C. chiisanensis Nakai, C. nobilis Nakai, C. subtriternata Nakai. On the other hand C. fusca var. coreana Nakai justified varietal status as an endemic plant to Korea. Also, a plausible suggestion was that C. ochotensis, be recognized under a variety of European taxa, i.e., C. alpina(L.) Mill. var. ochotensis (Pall.) S. Wats. Results from this current study showed that C. fusca var. coreana Nakai, C. brachyura Maxim, and C. trichotoma Nakai justified endemic plants to Korea..

This study was conducted in order to explore general flora of the Gyonggi-do Province and to clarify the distribution of some specificated taxa of the Korea. Daebu-do Island, Mt. Taewha, Mt, Hwaya, Mt. Gumdan, Mt. Chilhyun, and Mt. Chulma among eighth grade-area of the Degree of Green Naturality (DGN) within the boundary of the Gyounggi-do Province were visited to investigate local flora. The number of identified vascular plant species were as follow; Mt. Hwaya: 120 species (99 genera of 67 families), Mt. Taewha: 132 species(103 genera of 56 families), Daebu0do Island: 124 species(103 genera of 50 families), Mt. Chulma: 129 species(99genera of 67 families), Mt. Gumdan: 121 species(96 genera of 52 families), Mt Chilhyun: 90 species (74 genera of 42 families). The endemic Clematis brachyura Maxim. was found to distibute Daebu-do. ..

This study was carried out to investigate the flora of Mt. Undal(alt. 1,097.2m) located on the northwestern side of province Gyeongsangbuk-do, near Mungyeong-si city, from April 2000 to Sept. 2000. Total number of vascular plants discovered in Mt. undal were 70 families, 154 genera, and 243 taxa(including species, subspecies, varieties and forma). Major vegetation was Acer pictum var. mono - Quercus mongolica - Carpinus laxiflora community. The overall forest stand age of this area was 40 to 50 years, and occasionally ca 70 years old Abies holophylla trees were found. Although, there were no rare and endangered species, we found two species of level IV by the Ministry of Environment - Anemone koraiensis Nakai, Anemone reflexa. Steph. et Willd

Reproductive allocation in Lychnis cognata and Solidago virganrea in relation to dry weight and mineral nutrition

In case that reproductiγe allocation in Lychηis cognata and Solidago virganrea was represented by dry weight, that of Lychnis cognata was lower in the deciduous forest region than in the conifer one. In Solidago virganrea, however, there is no differences between the two forest regions. In case that reproductive allocation was represented by quantities of the four minerals (N,P,K and Ca) in Solidago virganrea, there were no difference between Figures of dry weight and four minerals. But there are some differences in Lychnis cognata. In Solidage and Lychnice, the change of the ratio of minerals in reproductive allocation is extremly different from that of dry weight. And the ratio of N and P of reproductive allocation was increased, on the contrary that of Ca was decreased

This study was carried out to investigate the flora of Mts. Dae-am, Dae-woo, Baek-suk and Sa-myung located on the east side of DMZ in province Yang-gu-gun from July 1999 to August 2000. Although two hundred and fifty eight vascular plant taxa (70 families 167 genera) were recorded, this was only a part of representatives in this community because of the restriction of collections within the military zone. The overall forest stand age of this area was 40 to 50 years, but occasionally ca 70 years old trees were found. We reported 11 taxa of the rare and endangered species proposed by the Ministry of Environment in this area..

Mt. Baek-am is located near east Sea of Ul-Jin gun of Kyong-sang-buk-do. The winter mean temperature 5℃ was higher than that of the same latitude inland areas. Major vegetation was Pinus densiflora-Quercus mongolica community. It was thought that the forest of Mt. Baek-am was disturbed by anthropogenic activity such as the visitation of hot spring and forest fire. Total vascular plants were recorded as 58 families, 125 genera and 164 species, and these numbers were lower than those of Mt. Jum-bong and Mt. Doo-ta located at the Tae-baek Mountains of Kangwon-do province. Two taxa, Lilium cerrum Korn. and Vaccinium koreanum Nakai as endemic taxa to Korea were recorded here. Especially the rare and endagered plants registered to the Ministry of Environment in Korea government were Lilium cernum Kom. and Wisteria floribunda (Willd.) DC. from this area
