Impact of Surgical Margin on Survival in Extremity Soft Tissue Sarcoma: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

If the status of surgical margin has by itself a significant impact on survival, wider surgical margins would be needed, and larger functional sequelae justified. However, if the status of surgical margin does not affect survival, closer surgical margins with a lower loss of function may be advantageous. The impact of surgical margin status on survival in extremity STS remains to be clearly defined. Therefore, a systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to determine the impact of SM status on survival in extremity STS. Methods: A literature search of the National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health (PubMed), EMBASE, and Cochrane Controlled Trials Register (CENTRAL) electronic database and by hand searching reference lists of original studies was performed. We searched the studies with the following text words and/or Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) terms: neoplasm or sarcoma or connective tissue or soft tissue and extremity and margin. The quality of each study was assessed using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS). A pooled HR was analyzed using an inverse variance weighting method and the random effects model or fixed effect model was selected according to heterogeneity. For identifying publication bias, Beggs test was used. Results: A total of 6 studies were included in the meta-analysis. All six studies were conducted at a single institution and were of high quality (NOS ≥ 7). Meta-analysis of all 6 studies showed that a positive SM predicted poor 5-year survival compared to patients with negative surgical margin in a random-effects model with moderate heterogeneity among studies (SHRs = 1.56, 95 % CI 1.12–2.17test for heterogeneity p<0.002, I² = 64.18%). Formal evaluation using Beggs test revealed no evidence for significant publication bias in the 5-year survival (p = 0.086). Conclusion: This meta-analysis supports the hypothesis that positive surgical margin is a poor prognostic factor for survival in extremity STS. Networked Individualism and Civil Protest: The Case of Candlelight Protest 2008

최근이 사회운동 연구에 있어서 정체성 지향 패러다임과 자원동원 패러다임은 상보적으로 교호하고 있다. 그것은 사회운동이란 주체와 조건이 효과적으로 결합된 산물이기 때문에. 한 측면만을 배타적으로 강조할 경우 분석의 적실성을 잃어버리기 때문이다. 따라서 집합적 정체성과 운동자원이 복합적으로 조형하는 심리적,물리적 틀이 사회운동의 실행 수준을 규정한다고 이해할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 집단 정체성 형성 기제이자 운동자원으로서의 네트워크의 역할을 주심으로 정보화 시대 사회 운동의 특징을 탐색하였다. 2008년 촛불시위는 이러한 네트워크의 역할이 두드러진 사회운동의 전형으로 운위되는바 그 특징들은 향후 사회운동의 변화상을 전망케 한다. 즉 이러한 변화는 다분히 네트워크 등 정보통신 기술의 발전과 궤를 같이 한다. 그러나 촛불시위에서 확인되 듯이 더욱 본직적인 것은 기술적 인프라를 매개한 시민 역량의 강화이다. 따라서 기술과 시민성의 공진화가 미래 사회운동의 레퍼토리를 재창조하리라는 전망은 그리 무리해보이지 않는다. Recently social movement researches have integrated two contrasting perspectives, collective-oriented paradigm and resource mobilization paradigm. Because social movement is made of its strategy and condition, it is required to analyze synthetically two aspects. This research tries to explore characteristics of social movement in the information era,focusing on network's roles. Network is understood as a important tool forming collective identity and mobilizing resource in modern social movement repertoire in the aspects of identity, mechanism and strategy. Online Public Sphere and Political Participation: The Case of Agorain 2008 Korean Candlelight Demonstration

그동안 촛불시위를 사례로 온라인 메커니즘과 효과를 분석한 정치학 연구들이 수행되어 왔다. 그렇지만 촛불시위에서 차지한 위상과 역할을 되돌아보건대, 정작 운동의 중심지였던 아고라에 대한 실증적 분석이 이루어지지 않는 점은 자못 아쉽다. 이 연구는 왜 아고라가 촛불시위의 본거지가 되었는가 하는 첫 번째 문제의식으로부터 출발한다. 즉 공론장으로서의 아고라 형성의 정치적 경제적 맥락 및 커뮤니케이션 플랫폼의 특징을 논의한다. 둘째, 아고라의 참여자 특성과 활성화 수준을 고찰한다. 이에 대해서는 랭키닷컴에서 제공받은 이용자 프로파일과 트래픽 데이터를 활용하여 분석한다. 셋째, 아고라의 미국산 쇠고기 수입 반대 이슈파급과 의제설정의 특징을 고찰한다. 이에 대해서는 아고라가 집합적으로 동 이슈를 운동의제화하는 데에서 나타난 이용자 행태를 논의한다. 넷째, 아고라 게시글의 형식적 질적 속성을 고찰하여 공론활동 수준을 고찰한다. 이에 대해서는 일정한 정도의 네티즌 반응성을 확보한 게시글들에 대하여 내용분석을 수행한다. Online space has formed multi-level public sphere based on distributed networks and various communications platform. In the last candlelight demonstration, online public sphere was the epicenter triggering a broad political mobilization through the bottom-up agenda-setting and public opinion formation. Especially the Agora of the Media Daum was called the Mecca of the candlelight vigil. In this regard, this study is to explore the function and influence of the Agora as the public sphere. Firstly, the political and economic context and the characteristics of the communication platforms that has formed the Agora will be discussed. Secondly, the behavioral characteristics and activity strength of participants of the Agora will be discussed. Thirdly, the features of rippling and agendasetting of the anti-U.S. beef import issue are to be investigated. Lastly, public debating level is to be discussed by content analysis of the Agora posts
