Physical and chemical parameter effects of UF pretreatment system

In seawater, plankton and suspended solids causes a problem in operating a seawater pretreatment system. Since such substances are filtered as they pass through pretreatment equipment, the importance of pretreatment emerges. This study used disc filters and UF membranes as the pretreatment equipment. As the processes of filtration and washing were repeated, flow and velocity would change as time passed. So it seems that steady experimental conditions not be achieved. This study conducted a fouling analysis using two flow conditions: constant r.p.m and constant flow rate regarding the conditions of flow in the process of filtration. For the fouling analysis, TMP(Trans Membrane Pressure) and permeability were analysed, and turbidity and SDI(Silt Density Index) value were compared. Each specimen was sampled, measured and compared using a measuring instrument.

    Syntax and Syntactic Unit

This paper is concerned with how to analyze syntactic constructs and with how to categorize the syntactic unit which is established as the result of analyzing syntactic constructs. In this paper I examine the nature of different syntactic units first and then argue that there are two useful syntactic units in Korean. One is syntactic function unit and the other syntagmatic unit. Syntactic function unit is defined as the minimal unit possessing a syntactic function, and syntagmatic unit is defined as the minimal unit possessing a combining ability. Therefore there are two levels of syntax in Korean. One is syntax based on syntactic function units and the other syntax based on syntagmatic units. Secondly, this paper considers the category of ko which introduces the quoted clause in Korean. I suggest that ko is not a final ending but a case marker. This consideration is led to how to categorize the syntactic unit in the system of Korean syntax. In this respect I examine the nature of complementizer in Korean. Therefore I find that it is necessary that not only the syntactic position of syntactic unit but also the syntactic features of syntactic unit should be investigated carefully in order that the syntactic study on the basis of syntactic unit might be deepened and widened

Pragmatic effects of number and person in Korean pronominal system: Three uses of first person plural wuli

    No full text
This paper examines the pragmatic effects of a combination of number and person in Korean pronominal system. Korean has specialized associative plural markers such ney, huy, and li. First person plural wuli is composed of first person pronoun wu and associative marker li. In this regard, wuli not only represents normal plurality, but also has special uses. Such special uses of wuli can be classified into opinion-presenting wuli, non-possessive wuli, and solidarity-expressing wuli based on their opposition relations, distributions, and pragmatic effects. Opinion-presenting wuli is used to display the effect of objectification and impersonalization. Non-possessive wuli indicates that the following referents are not individual possessions of the speaker. Solidarity-expressing wuli is used before a nominal to refer to the hearer as a device that shows solidarity. Opinion-presenting wuli is not usually used when a superior speaks to an inferior. Non-possessive wuli can be replaced by singular nay when the following kinship term is downward. Solidarity expressing wulifunctions as a minimal/dual inclusive. All these phenomena point to close relatedness between wuli uses and politeness. (c) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
