Patients with traumatic brain injury(TBI) have unique cognitive-linguistic aspects due to extensive nature of injury to the brain. TBI patients often have difficulty in functional communication in daily life. This study targeted 10 TBI patients and a control group of 18 normal adults to examine the difference of story comprehension performance and error types. The results of the study demonstrated that the TBI patients' story comprehension ability in literal information, text-connected inference, and gap-filling inference was lower than that of normal adults. The total number of errors in the TBI group was higher than that in the normal group, and these were faulty inference, lack of expressive language, and no response errors. Especially, error type analysis of the story comprehension tasks showed that the two groups produced inference errors. The patient group manifested difficulty in context inference, and thus demonstrated incomplete and immature inference procedures. This study is significant in that it dealt with diverse error types in story comprehension task in TBI patients.ope
