    Two cases of acute renal failure associated with non-typhoid Salmonella infection

    Two cases of acute renal failure associated with non-typhoid Salmonella infection are reported. Case 1: A 49-year-old man was admitted with the complaint of severe watery diarrhea and oliguria. Stool culture revealed Salmonella typhimurium. Laboratory data showed hyponatremia and acute renal failure. Hemodialysis was performed 3 times and renal failure was improved. Case 2: A 63-year-old woman was admitted with complaint of severe watery diarrhea, nausea, and fever. Stool culture revealed Salmonella E group. Septic shock appeared after admission, and anti-shock therapy was immediately carried out. Acute renal failure was cured without hemodialysis, even though multiple organ failure had occurred concomitantly. We discussed the management of patients with Salmonella infection, especially those with acute renal failure

    Recently, electric power demand goes on increasing. It is necessary to more electric substations and small cubicles. It is also wanted to compact gears and substations. This situation results in the narrow distance arrangement of the current buses and the handling of the high current and high temperature of the buses. Since the temperature rise of the bus is due to many heat transfer factors in the vicinity of the bus surface, it is analysed inclusively in this paper. From the engineering aspect, that is, the design aspect, it is important to know two fundamental values of heat transfer coefficiency and radiation efficiency necessary to decide the final temperature of the bus. The temperature are known from the method of phase plane of the nonlinear differential equation on the temperature rise including the radiation loss with their values. The calculated temperature is consisted with the experimental ones.最近,電力需要が増加してきており,より多くの変電設備やキュービクルが必要である。これはまた,コンパクトな装置や変電設備を求めている。このような事情から,狭い間隔での電流母線の配置やこれら母線を大電流で,しかも高い温度で取り扱わなくてはならなくなってきている。母線の温度上昇はその表面周辺での多くの熱伝達因子によるが,この論文では,この温度上昇を総括的に解析した。工学的すなわち設計の立場から,母線の最終温度を決める基本的な2つの値,熱伝達係数と放射効率を知ることは重要である。この温度はこれらの値を用いて放射損失の項をもつ温度上昇に関する非線形微分方程式を位相平面の方法で知ることが出来る。この計算で求めた値と実験値とは一致を見た

    Theoretical pressure head was derived to a laminar flow fan. And the head losses, due to a flow friction and the losses in the rotor inlet and of the divergent flow at the rotor outlet, were predicted theoreticaly. The calculation with these theories shows that the optimum parameters exist to this type fan. The theoretical pressure head goes down when a radius ratio (ri/ro) is greater than 0.8 or a distance between two disks δD is large, and the degree of the going down is so much at flow coefficient less than 0.05. The pressure head losses is consisted mostly of the losses due to a flow friction at δD less than 1.0 mm, but mostly of the losses out of the rotor outlet at δD greater than 1.0 mm. The losses in the rotor inlet isn\u27t so great at any conditions. That is, the minimum head losses is obtained at δD = 0.8 mm

    Effects of the parameters on Noise Generated by Laminar Flow Fans

    The effects of four design parameters, the number of disks, the rotational frequency, the thickness of disk and the distance of two disks on noise generated from laminar flow fan were experimentally investigated, and discussed. The fan noise increases with increasing the number of disks and the rotational frequency. That is, the sound pressure is nearly proportional to the number of disks and the rotational frequency of the sixth power. The thickness of disk and the distance of two disks are little independenent of fan noise. According to specific noise level, the laminar flow fan is by no means inferior to the centrifugal fan. The laminar fan noise is almost turbulent noise

    As computers are now playing highly significant roles in our society, the education of information processing engineering becomes increasingly important. In order to meet the needs, the department of information processing engineering was newly founded in Fukuyama University in April 1986. In this department we emphasize not only the fundamental education, but also the education of image information processing. We summarize, in this report, the object and the contents of our edu cation, especially of software, the configuration of the computer system and some considerations on the intror duction of the system. We hope that this report will be of help to those who are intending to found similar departments
