3D Printed Microfluidic Cell for Spectroelectrochemical Analysis

    No full text
Recent advances in fused deposition modeling 3D printing (FDM 3DP) enabled \nthe manufacture of customized spectroelectrochemical (SEC) devices. Despite significant progress, \nreported designs still rely on conventional optical components (windows and cuvettes). In this \nwork, we apply bi-material FDM 3DP combining electrically conductive and optically \ntranslucent filaments to manufacture a fully integrated microfluidic SEC device. Employing cyclic \nvoltammetric measurements with redox probes, we demonstrate that the platform allows SEC sensing of \nreactants, intermediates, and products of charge transfer reactions in an oxygen- free \nenvironment. Developed approaches pave the way for SEC d vices with dramatically\nreduced costs compared to currently available commercial platforms.\

Methods of nonlinear effects analysis al the output signal of tested objects give the possibility of defects and damage examination in materials and electronic devices what is useful in reliability prediction. For passive elements a very effective tool exemplifies Third Harmonic Index (THI). The THI measurements for interference suppressor capacitors and its properties have been described in detail. The application of bispectrum in analysis of resistance fluctuations in gas sensors was briefly presented. Advantages of nonlinear spectroscopy in non-destructive testing of objects have also been pointed out.

Limits of validity of the Rashba model in BiTeI: High-field magneto-optical study

    Get PDF
International audienceIt was recently shown that BiTeI, a semiconductor with polar crystal structure, possesses a giant spin splitting of electrons, which has been interpreted in terms of Rashba-type spin-orbit coupling. Here we use high field magneto-optical spectroscopy to quantify the deviations of the conduction-band profile from this appealing, but at the same time, strongly simplifying model. We find that the optical response-comprising a series of inter-Landau level excitations-can be described by the Rashba model only at low magnetic fields. In contrast, the high-field response appears to be more consistent with a simple picture of massless electrons in a conical band. This points towards more linear rather than parabolic dispersion at energies well above the bottom of the conduction band

Preparation and noise analysis of polymer graphite cathode

    No full text
The paper deals with the preparation and measurement of an experimental polymer graphite cathode that seems to be a promising and cheap source of electrons utilizing cold field-emission in high- and ultra-high vacuum. Polymer graphite seems to be a proper material as it contains a large amount of hybridized carbon with a low degree of surface oxidation and silicon monoxide (SiO). Within the frame of this work, a special experimental method of tip preparation has been designed and tuned. This method is based on ion milling inside a dual-beam electron microscope enabling to obtain ultra-sharp tips of a diameter smaller than 100 nm with a predefined opening angle. The charge transport within experimental samples is evaluated based on results provided by the noise spectroscopy of the total emission current in the time and frequency domains
