Numerical solution of a fuzzy time-optimal control problem

In this paper, we consider a time-optimal control problem with uncertainties. Dynamics of controlled object is expressed by crisp linear system of differential equations with fuzzy initial and final states. We introduce a notion of fuzzy optimal time and reduce its calculation to two crisp optimal control problems. We examine the proposed approach on an example.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figure

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the 8-weeks core training program on balance and vertical jump in female volleyball players. 24 female volleyball players aged 12-14 (12 in experimental group, 12 in control group) voluntarily participated in the study. While the core training program and routine volleyball training was applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks, 3 days in a week/ 60 minutes per day, only routine volleyball training was applied to the control group for 8 weeks. Balance and vertical jump tests were applied to the subjects before (pre-test) and after (post-test) 8 weeks core training program. Paired and Independent Samples t Tests on SPSS 22.0 program were used for statistical analysis. There was a significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test in terms of balance and vertical jump values of the experimental group (p <0.05). While there was no statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of the control group in non-blind standing stork test (p> 0.05), there was significant difference in blind stork test and vertical jump tests (p <0.05). When the change between the groups was examined by looking at the difference of the pre-posttests, non-blind stork test was 3.73 cm, blind stork test was 2.45 cm and vertical jump test was 2.50 cm. After 8 weeks of core training, a significant difference was found between the two groups’ balance and vertical jump values (p <0.05). As a result, it could be said that the core training program has positive effects on balance and vertical jump when applied with volleyball training.  Article visualizations

Errand into the East : a history of evangelical American Protestant missionaries and their missions to Ottoman Istanbul during the nineteenth century

Ankara : The Department of History, Bilkent University, 2004.Thesis (Master's) -- Bilkent University, 2004.Includes bibliographical refences. This thesis introduces a history of evangelical American Protestant missionary experience in Ottoman Istanbul during the nineteenth century. It argues that the New England Puritan heritage from the eighteenth century determined the scope and objectives of American missionaries in the Ottoman Empire although the missionaries sometimes disagreed with the missionary plans set by the ABCFM Prudential Committee in Boston. Contrary to the expectations of the American Board, the missionaries directed their full force to teaching often more than preaching once they landed in Istanbul. They believed that the natives of Istanbul needed education, attributing their backwardness and lack of faith to iliteracy. At the turn of the twentieth century, their institutions became prototypical and the later missionaries in the Middle East modeled their missions on those missionary establishments in late nineteenth-cenury Istanbul. Overall, the thesis, with its emphasis on the continuities and changes in evangelical American missionary mindset, the successes and failures of the missionary activities in the Ottoman capital, and the American missionary experience and life with the Ottomans, revises and provides fresh insights into American religious attitudes, relations between Ottomans and Americans, and the American "Errand into the East."Şahin, EmrahM.S

The purpose of this research is to examine the positive and negative aspects of foreign athletes competing under the name of Turkish athletics in international competitions, which have often occurred in recent years. What do Turkish sportsmen and coaches think about the foreign athletes who are competing in the name of Turkish athletics? What do these athletes think about their contribution to the sport of the country? What are the achievements of them? What are the difficulties seen in the work with them? Answering these and other questions guides to possible methods to eliminate the difficulties that can be experienced in working with foreign sports athletes competing under the name of Turkey and under the flag of Turkey. This research has been limited to answers given by participants which they had been questioned to collect data. 20 sportsman 15 coaches participated in this research. 15 questions were asked to coaches and 16 questions to sportsmen for prepare interview record. All interviews were recorded and written. In conclusion findings shown that sportsman that converted to Turkish citizenship won some medals but in higher goals like to promote Turkey's recognition by other countries and to advertise Turkey, they have failed.  Article visualizations
