The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of vitamin A and zinc interaction in laying hens fed on diets supplemented with two different levels of vitamin A (0, 10.000 IU/kg) in combination with five different levels of zinc (0, 25, 50, 100, 200 mg/kg) on egg yield, plasma and yolk concentration of zinc, and the levels of plasma triglyceride and phosphorus for 12 weeks. Egg production, egg weight, feed intake, body weight and feed efficiency did not differ among the groups. Plasma and yolk zinc concentrations were affected only by zinc supplementation. An interaction between vitamin A and zinc had an effect and the independent effect of vitamin A supplementation increased the plasma triglyceride levels of laying hens. The level of phosphorus in plasma was altered by zinc supplementation and an interaction between zinc and vitamin A. Since the positive relationship between plasma zinc and egg production was observed (r=0.279 p<0.01), it is suggested that plasma zinc may be an indicator for the estimation of egg production or hen performance. *İpek, Hüdai ( Aksaray, Yazar )The combination of ketamine HCl and xylazine HCl has been used to immobilize numerous wild and domestic carnivores. The aim of this study was to determined heamotological and biochemical effects of xylazine-ketamine anesthesia on Bozova greyhounds. In this study the anesthetic effects of the ketamine and xylazine were investigated in 8 greyhounds which were in different age, body weight and sex. The animals were injected with the ketamine (10 mg/kg) and xylazine (1 mg/kg) intramuscularly. Heamotological and biochemical findings were recorded before and during anesthesia. The study show that there were no significant differences between before and during anesthesia heamotological and biochemical effects of xylazine-ketamine anesthesia on Bozova greyhounds except increase of glucose, CK and desrease of TP, TRG. In this study; results demonstrated that the combinations of ketamine and xylazine can be used in practice as anesthetics in Bozova greyhounds.

WOS: 000466333800024Bovine ephemeral fever is an economically important viral disease of cattle and water buffalo. In this study, it was aimed to investigate oxidant-antioxidant status in cattle with ephemeral fever disease. A total of 32 Holsteins aged between 12- 18 months kept under same care and feeding conditions were used. Activities of GPx, CAT and SOD and the levels of TAC, TOS, CP, SH and MDA were measured. Levels of CP and TAC were significantly (p<0,05) higher in IG compared to HG. Levels of SH and CP were significantly (p<0,05) lower and CAT activity were significantly (p<0,05) higher in RG compared with IG. Levels of SH and activity of GPx and were significantly (p<0,05) lower and CAT levels were significantly (p<0,05) higher in RG compared with HG. The results or this experiment suggest a possible relationship between oxidant/antioxidant balance in favor of antioxidants in ephemeral fever in cattle
