    Get PDF
In the present paper the method of substructures is used to derive transverse vibration equations of a continuous beam on rigid and elastic supports under the action of moving bodies. An algorithm for calculating the solutions of vibration equations of a continuous beam is presented. From this algorithm, a computer program is created using C++ language

EFL TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS AND THEIR REPORTED PRACTICES OF ENACTING THE COMMUNICATION AND CULTURE SECTION IN THE NEW ENGLISH TEXTBOOK

    Get PDF
The development of globalization and integration requires a modern workforce with 21st-century skills, especially intercultural communicative competence (ICC). Thanks to the National Foreign Language 2020 project, the new English textbooks were introduced to Vietnamese students with the hope prepare them for ICC. Research on how EFL teachers explored the new teaching materials has been made, but previous findings show limitations on EFL teachers’ practices in the communication and culture section. Hence, this descriptive research was conducted to investigate EFL teachers’ perceptions and their reported practices of enacting this section. A mixed-method approach was employed to collect quantitative and qualitative data. Seventy-two EFL teachers in the Mekong Delta responded to the questionnaire and seven of them joined the semi-structured interviews. Results revealed various EFL teachers’ perceptions and high levels of agreement on their practices of four dimensions of ICC. The study also suggested further research should look into students’ perspectives.  Article visualizations

Epidemiology of Leprosy in Vietnam and the Effectiveness of Multidrug Therapy (MDT) in the Management of the Disease

    Get PDF
Leprosy is a chronic infection caused by the acid-fast, rod-shaped bacillus Mycobacterium leprae. Leprosy can be considered connected diseases that primarily affect the superficial tissues, especially the skin and peripheral nerves. The social and psychological effects of leprosy, as well as its highly visible debilities and sequelae, have resulted in a historical stigma associated with leprosy. Vietnam has seen a highly significant decrease in the prevalence rate (PR) of leprosy since 1983. From 1983 onwards, with the introduction of multidrug therapy (MDT), the prevalence of the disease has dropped to less than one case per 10,000 individuals from 1995. After over two decades, a total of 109 cases were registered with a prevalence rate of 0.01 per 10,000 population in 2017. It is clear that over the past 35 years, the profile of leprosy in Vietnam has been changed significantly followed by the treatment with MDT. Leprosy has become a rare disease in Vietnam. This chapter presents the trend in the epidemiology of leprosy in Vietnam from 1983 to 2018 and also mentions the effectiveness of multidrug therapy (MDT) in the management of this disease. Based on individual records and annual reports, the prevalence of registered cases, the number of new cases detected yearly, their sex, age, classification (MB, multibacillary; PB, paucibacillary) and disability status are carefully presented

Calculation of nonlinear vibrations of piecewise-linear systems using the shooting method

    Get PDF
In this paper, an explicit formulation of the shooting scheme for computation of multiple periodic attractors of a harmonically excited oscillator which is asymmetric with both stiffness and viscous damping piecewise linearities is derived. The numerical simulation by the shooting method is compared with that by the incremental harmonic balance method (IHB method), which shows that the shooting method is in many respects distinctively advantageous over the incremental harmonic balance method

UIT-ADrone: A Novel Drone Dataset for Traffic Anomaly Detection

    Get PDF
Anomaly detection plays an increasingly important role in video surveillance and is one of the issues that have attracted various communities, such as computer vision, machine learning, and data mining in recent years. Moreover, drones equipped with cameras have quickly been deployed to a wide range of applications, starting from border security applications to street monitoring systems. However, there is a notable lack of adequate drone-based datasets available to detect unusual events in the urban traffic environment, especially in roundabouts, due to the density of interaction between road users and vehicles. To promote the development of anomalous event detection with drones in the complex traffic environment, we construct a novel large-scale drone dataset to detect anomalies involving realistic roundabouts in Vietnam, covering a large variety of anomalous events. Traffic at a total of three different roundabouts in Ho Chi Minh City was recorded with a camera-equipped drone. The resulting dataset contains 51 videos with total data traffic of nearly 6.5 h, captured across 206K frames with ten abnormal event types. Based on this dataset, we comprehensively evaluate the current state-of-the-art algorithms and what anomaly detection can do in drone-based video surveillance. This study presents a detailed description of the proposed UIT-ADrone dataset, along with information regarding data distribution, protocols for evaluation, baseline experimental results on our dataset, and other benchmark datasets, discussions, and paves the way for future work

Transverse vibration of orthotropic rectangular plates under moving bodies

    Get PDF
The use of orthotropic plates is common in all the fields of structural engineering: civil, traffic, aerospace and naval. In this paper the transverse vibration of orthotropic rectangular plates under moving bodies is investigated. The method of substructures is used to derive transverse vibration equations of an orthotropic rectangular plate under the action of moving bodies. For the calculation of dynamic response of orthotropic rectangular plate we use Ritz method and numerical integration method

A Design of Similar High-gain and Dual-band Frequency/Polarization Reconfigurable Antenna for ISM Band Applications

    Get PDF
This paper proposes a frequency/polarization reconfigurable antenna (RA) incorporating with Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) to achieve dual-band and similar high-gain characteristics. The proposed RA-FSS design using 4 PIN Diodes can switch between circular polarization (CP) at 1.8 GHz and linear polarization at 2.45 GHz. The fabricated prototype shows good CP performance at 1.8 GHz while the measured peak broadside gains are about 7.2 dBi at 1.8 GHz and 8.5 dBi at 2.45 GHz when PIN diode ON and OFF, respectively

Factors Affecting E-Commerce Customer Satisfaction in Hanoi, Vietnam

    Get PDF
The escalating ubiquity and cost-effectiveness of internet facilities have precipitated a notable surge in the adoption of e-commerce among Vietnamese inhabitants, particularly those residing in urban areas. This research endeavours to enhance comprehension of factors affecting e-commerce customer satisfaction in Hanoi, Vietnam. A quantitative survey of this research was conducted in which online questionnaires were distributed to 382 respondents through social media. The amassed data underwent meticulous analysis utilizing Microsoft Excel. The findings of this investigation underscore that information quality, system quality, service quality and price simultaneously influence e-commerce customer satisfaction. Keywords: factors, e-commerce customers, satisfaction DOI: 10.7176/EJBM/16-2-03 Publication date:March 31st 202
