An Analysis Of Lexical Relations In Amnesia Song Taken From 5 Seconds Of Summer Album
This research is about semantics analysis of lexical relations in Amnesia song taken from 5 Seconds of Summer album. The objectives of the study are to describe lexical relations used in the lyric of Amnesia song and to find out the most dominat lexical relations between the five lexical devices. This research apllies descriptive qualitative design. The researcher used the lyric of Amnesia song as the data source. The technique of collecting data was content analysis. The results of the research showed that there are 243 cases of lexical relations with 99 cases of synonym, 75 cases of antonym, 61 cases of polysemy, 7 cases of homonym, and 1 case of hyponym. The most dominant of lexical relations was
synonym and the lowest is homonym
The Implementation Of Google Classroom In Teaching Reading For Senior High School Students During Covid-19 Outbreak
The research aims to describe the implementation of Google Classroom in teaching Reading Comprehension Course for Senior High School students during Covid-19 outbreak. The research is descriptive qualitative, and the data are collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The findings show that the implementation of Google Classroom in teaching Reading Comprehension for Senior High School students during Covid-19 outbreak appears to be effective. The teachers use several teaching methods such as Reciprocal Teaching, Question Answer Relationship (QARs), and scaffolding method. In using Google Classroom as their learning platform, the teachers encountered some challenges, which include difficulties in explaining the teaching materials through online media, the studentsâ readiness in using the application, limited time for reading text materials, internet connection problem, and other technical problems such as in operating the features in the application itself. Similarly, the students faced problems caused by environmental and technical factors. The research proposes solutions to these problems, they include teachersâ motivational encouragement and positive attitude in utilising Google Classroom, teacher-parent discussion and agreement through Whatsapp Group to prevent non-conducive learning environment, and both teachersâ and studentsâ commitment to have early preparation of online class to solve any technical problems that may arise
Subtitling Analysis Of Interrogative Sentence Found In Crazy Rich Asians Movie
This research focuses on analyzing the interrogative sentences found in Crazy Rich Asians movie. The aims of this research are to explain the types of interrogative sentences, to describe the most frequent type of interrogative sentence, and to explain the equivalent of translation of interrogative sentence found in Crazy Rich Asians movie. This research applies descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data of this research is Crazy Rich Asians movie and its subtitle. The data of this study are interrogative sentences found in Crazy Rich Asians and its subtitle. This research use documentation analysis to collect the data. The researcher found 219 data of interrogative sentences. The results of the research show that, firstly, From 219 data of interrogative sentence, there are 74 (33,78%) belongs to Yes/No questions, 71 data (32,42%) belongs to WH-interrogative questions (who, why, what, where, how, which), 50 (22,83%) belongs to declarative questions, 12 (5,47%) data belongs to Tag-questions, 6 (2,73%) belongs to rhetorical questions, and 6 (2,73%) belongs to alternative questions. Secondly, from the analzed data show that the most dominant data of interrogative sentences are yes/no question with 74 with 33,78%. Lastly, From 219 analyzed data, 197 data or 89,95% belongs to equivalent translation and 22 or 10,04% data belongs to non-equivalent translation
Scientific Approach in Teaching Reading to The Eight Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Mantingan Ngawi in The Academic Year 2014/2015
The current study investigates the implementation of scientific approach (SA) in teaching reading in the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Mantingan Ngawi in the academic year 2014/2015. The objectives of study are to find out how teachers applied scientific approach, what problems the teachers faced in implementing scientific approach and what the studentsâ perception about their reading class. The writer used qualitative descriptive as the research design. This study used observation, questionnaire, and interview for getting data. The object of the study are two English teachers and 44 eight grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Mantingan Ngawi. The data was analyzed using qualitative analysis. The research findings are : firstly, implementation of scientific approach in teaching reading ; 1. Teachers only applied four steps of scientific approach (observing, questioning, associating and communicating) or sometimes they applied three steps of scientific approach (questioning, associating and communicating) 2. They did not implement teaching reading appropriate with five steps of the scientific approach in the class. Secondly, problems faced by teachers in implement of scientific approach. (1). From the teachers : Teachers did not have basic knowledge of scientific approach because (a) they were lack of training, or socialization about scientific approach, (b) the curriculum 2013 or K-13âs assessment system is complicated than the KTSPâs assessment system. (2). From the students : (a) Students have difficulties in finding out the main idea of reading text, (b) Students have difficulties in grammar, (c) the students did not have extensive vocabulary or their English vocabulary is limited. Thirdly, the studentsâ perception when scientific approach applied in teaching reading. (1). Students felt enthusiastic with the teachersâ way of teaching reading. The Implementation Of Pesma English Conversation Program At Pesma KH Mas Mansur University Of Muhammadiyah Surakarta
This study aimed to describe the Pesma English Conversation program implementation at Pesma KH Mas Mansur. The research design was a descriptive study. The subjects of this study were eight students who stayed in the international boarding school of Pesma KH Mas Mansur. In collecting data, the researcher used observations, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed qualitatively. The findings of this study revealed that the implementation of the Pesma English Conversation program consists of three components: techniques, learning media, and handouts. On the other hand, there are problems in this program, such as the lack of collaboration between the language department and English tutors, the limitation of learning media, and less practice. Then the appropriate solutions for these problems include strengthening the collaboration between the language department and English tutors, improving learning media, and more practicing. As a result, these findings confirm the implementation, problems, and solutions to the problems in the Pesma English Conversation program at Pesma KH Mas Mansur
A Case Study: English Teachersâ Perception Of Authentic Assessment And Its Implementation Of SMA Negeri 1 Widodaren And SMK PGRI 6 Ngawi
This study aims to 1) identify perceptions of English teachers in Widodaren 1 and SMK PGRI 6 SMA Ngawi towards authentic assessment; 2) describe the implementation of authentic assessments, 3) identify the problems faced, and 4) find out how English teachers at Widodaren 1 High School and SMK PGRI 6 Ngawi solved it. This type of research is qualitative case study. The population of this study were two English teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Widodaren and SMK PGRI 6 Ngawi. The results of this study indicate that 1) there are differences in perceptions of athentic assessment of teachers of SMA Negeri 1 Widodaren with SMK PGRI 6 Ngawi; 2) the implementation of authentic assessment through the same stages (planning, implementation, and report)which cover cognitive, affective, and psychomotor, using 4 types of authentic assessment (performance, observation, portfolio, and project; 3) the problem faced by the teacher are inability to manage the class, removal of affective value coloumn on studentâs report, lack of teaching learning facilities, limited time allocation, difficulties in determining on scorring rubric items, and the studentâs lack ability in language skill; 4) the problems faced by the teachers can be overcome by make notes about the assessment of observations and changethe rules of assessment, following government regulation, take time allocation, utilizing simple media, using simple valuation items, and assessing easy teaching material.

A STUDY ON POLITENESS STRATEGIES USED IN DISAGREEMENTS BY INDONESIAN LEARNERS OF ENGLISH
The aim of this paper is to classify the types of disagreement strategies used by Indonesian learners of English based on Graham hierarchies and to classify the types of politeness strategies in disagreement used by Indonesian learners of English based on Brown and Levinsonâs theory. The researcher did this study by usingWDCT (Written Discourse Completion Test) techniques which consists of three situations (unfamiliar â equal, unfamiliar â lower, and unfamiliar â higher). The data were obtained from 30 respondents of English learners in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The findings of the this research show that Indonesian learners used three strategies in showing disagreement and four politeness strategies in disagreement. Majority of Indonesian learners likes to show their disagreement by countering their argument and giving some evidences or opinions to support their ways. Then, some of them also used contradiction strategiy and responding to the tone, and refuting the topic strategy to express their disagreement. While, in politeness strategies, the writers found some of politeness strategies in each WDCT or situation. They are Negative Politeness (be conventionally indirect, do not assume willingness to comply, question hedge (hedging), be pessimistic about ability or willingness to comply, give deference, apologize, and impersonalise the speaker and the hearer), positive politeness (notice, attend to the hearer, and be optimistic), bald on record amd off record strategy. The Application Of Google Classroom In Teaching Writing For Senior High School Students During Covid-19 Pandemic
The objectives of the research were: 1) To describe the implementation of google classroom in teaching writing for Senior High School students during Covid-19 pandemic; 2) To identify the teacherâs and studentsâ roles in google classroom; 3) To find out strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of google classroom in teaching writing for Senior High School students during Covid-19 pandemic.
The type of the research was descriptive qualitative. The data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. Findings show that the application of google classroom in teaching writing for Senior High School students during Covid-19 pandemic shows that methods used by the teacher in teaching writing in google classroom planning, drafting, and editing was effective. The teacher delivered the material simply and gave orders to students step by step. The methods used by the teacher in teaching writing in google classroom are planning, drafting, and editing. In terms of classroom procedure, the finding show that activities of teaching writing were modified into Warmer (Boardgame), Vocabulary Building, Questioning Activities, Vocabulary Exercises, Grammar Review, Text Structure, and Construction a Text, and they were included in three steps of teaching learning activities as opening, main activity, and closing. Meanwhile, the material used by the teacher is audio visual, printed, and non-printed material. English asessment was carried out in daily test or Ulangan Harian (UH), mid semester test or Penilaian Tengah Semester (UTS), and final test or Ulangan Akhir Semester (UAS). The media used in writing class are google classroom, google meet, and powerpoint presentation. The roles of teachers in google classroom are as controller, observer, organizer, tutor and evaluator, while studentsâ roles are as processor, performer, and listener. The strengths of the implementation of google classroom in teaching writing for Senior High School students during Covid-19 pandemic are: the use of Google Classroom for writing skill are practicality, autonomous learning, feature, and simplicity. It is effective application to complete implementation of the learning approach and gadget friendly. The Implementantion Of Project Based Learning During The Learning Process At SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo
Project based learning is a method that has different characteristics which uses student centered learning. To develop this method the teacher uses writing learning in implementing this project based learning. The aims of this study are (1) to find out the Implementation of project based learning during the learning process, (2) to find out what problem faced by the teacher during the learning process and (3) to find out perception of English teacher in implementing project based learning during in learning process at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with observation, interviews and documentation as data collection. The results of this study reveal that teachers by implementing Project based learning can help students improve their writing skills by developing students' ideas into a unique and creative writing and also to encourage studentsâ motivation in learning English
